He says the shares/company is valued at less that the debt. Vod's deb't is about 1/2 it's value. The value of vod is its maket cap, + deb't. Vod's market cap is less than it's deb't, but the market cap has already factored out the deb't. It's like if you own a house that is worth 900k, but owe 500k on your mortgage. Your house is still worth 900k, but your investment, 900k minus your deb't 500k is 400k which is less than your deb't, but your house is still worth 400k more than your deb't. Of course we all know that vod's deb't is a concern, & of course time will tell if it is a problem.
Vodafone has become stronger I guess lately... should SP increase now.
another clueless deramper called porsche.
Sounds like you cannot afford the porche anyway.
And it is very amateurish to lump all ftse100 stock in a same lump as if VOD is same as wpp or itv.
Please educate yourself.
You probably don't even know the dividend yield on vodafone shares do you?
Or that E& bought 10% stake in Vod for 130p?
You probably don't know that recently Vod has also received broker upgrades.
Or that the share price has held up really well recently desipre the ftse100 sell off. Vod has not sold as ftse fold off over the past month - but this you missed.
May I suggest that you go play in a sandbox with your little friends. Thanks!
Dumped all these I owned at 1.39 thank god. CEO is brain dead, how he is still there just points up the dogshxt levels of “
talent “acceptable in ftse 100. The shares/company is valued at less than its debt which tells you all you need to know. These will end up an ITV type company, the business model was over 15 years ago, there is no money in mobile and the German purchase turning into a disaster. They were stitched up price wise. Obviously the whole ftse has been a disaster since brexit, index valued at less than it was 21 year ago OMFG but being stuffed full of crxp like Vod/bt/LLoyds /itv/wpp etc is the other part of the problem aside from nobody wanting to invest in UK index or perma depreciating sterling denominated assets.
My only advice is unless you really think you know better than the average retail investor, then don't trade in & out of shares, as you are almost certain to lose, especially if you don't watch your costs. I.E. stamp duty, dealing costs, holding fees. e.t.c. Buy a share, & hold, at least then you have at least a 50/50 chance. Brokers make there money from those who buy, then sell, then buy, then sell! If you keep changing your mind, then the stock market is not for you unless you are an expert, & if I were an expert, I wouldn't waste my time posting on here. Good luck though.
Hi Rob
No worries as my losses are only small compared to many who invested £000s.
Just need a bit/lot of patience hopefully.
Reading the POLY BB, there are many with serious paper losses atm.
Hi Gary
You can't beat a bit of diversification to spread any risk.
You can look at the big yielders from the link below:
https://www.dividenddata.co.uk/dividendyield.py?market=ftse100&sort=yield&order=1
A couple of shares that throw off a good income are:
NCYF
SUPR
WHR
IUKD

Is investor sentiment towards Vodafone becoming more positive?
I ask as with the rest of the FTSE 100 in rapid decline VOD has been performing better than normal, I know it has been going down but not by as much as one would have thought.
Perhaps the decent dividend on offer from a massive business is tempting institutional income investors / pension funds to buy in or buy more, or is that just cr*p?
London - good spot that BR is buying back, a lot it little doesn’t matter trend is higher that’s all that matters. Sp looking strong in a poor market. What would happen to the sp in a strong market??
There would a significant increase in the share price
"soon after BlackRock ups their holdings quote significantly! "
They only up'd from 6.98% to 7.06%, an increase of 0.08%
London Centric. I hope you are right, but I can't see how Black Rock ploughing in to vod will push the sp up to £2. But I agree that vod is a strong buy at the moment, so good luck with that one. waffle, waffle!
You guys have been waffling on but have to failed to notice after Etisalat bought in soon after BlackRock ups their holdings quote significantly! Something is gona go down could be a big shift up towards £2 ?? Good luck all!
csdi, I do hope you realise your not alone, most of my shares have been dropping in value lately, and Vodafone has been holding up better than most, and i expect it's the same for most of us, unless they have picked something spectacular, all we can do is try and turn a bad situation to our advantage by adding more shares at a lower price and collect the dividends, which ones will turn out to be the biggest winners or losers we don't know, we just hope the ones we have picked will bring us the best rewards, hope that Bull market is not too far away, I've been waiting patiently here lol
Hi Gary, well you already have most of the same shares as myself, I know I'm a bit heavy in insurance and financials, but they do pay good dividends and you get to know the ranges they work in, mng and dlg are another two favourites of mine also hold phnx which I'm not so keen on and will be selling when the price is right, both mng and dlg are at a good buying price at the moment, but of course could go lower just as any other shares at the moment, hoping to add to vod at some time, but the sp is too high at the moment, i would never wish a share price down, would always prefer them to rise but if it happens then will try and take advantage of it
as always dyor and good luck with whatever you choose
Welcome home Mr Rob I'm glad you kept away from stocks whilst on hols. I always have a quick glance though whilst away & remember selling my RMG straight after they went public a few years ago whilst I was in Barbados with the lovely Mrs G. That little deal paid for that holiday so happy days back then.
I would like to ask a serious question if okay? Having sold 50% of my VOD, my oilers & with this years ISA for us both I have a healthy wedge sitting doing nothing. I want to buy some good old FTSE income shares purely for dividends to supplement pensions & I would be grateful for opinions as what to buy / research. I have made my mind up to buy AV. LGEN, MRCH, LLOY & NWG when they get to a level I am happy with. I need three or four others, apologies this is not about VOD but there are wise heads here.
Short term is grim but it’s clouding a perfectly bright future. Don’t let mainstream media get inside your head. They only report on what happened yesterday.
The doom is creating buying opportunities.
Hi Robleo
Welcome back to good old sunny Blighty.
That is one of the longest sentences I have seen LOL.
You were spot on with PSN - right idea to sell before ex div day. Its dropped nearly £4 inside a week for a £1.10 divi.
The FTSE has dropped about 3% over the same time, so VOD is holding well.
A lot of pressure on the markets atm, with short term looking pretty gloomy.
GLA - C
Good Morning all, just got back from sunny Tenerife, been trying to stay away from the depressing stock market whilst on holiday, i noticed not much has happened to the Vodafone sp while I've been away, but at least it hasn't dropped much unlike a lot of my other shares, i did make one exception and logged into Persimmon, and sold them off the day before exdiv, as i think the rising interest rates and inflation and reduce numbers of mortgage applications would not be good for the housing market, and we could see house prices going into reverse, I could be wrong about that of course, which would mean my good friend csdi would benefit and i would be pleased about that, and also i could use the money from that sale for topping up a cple of my other shares, I think Gary is right in saying there will be a lot of turmoil with the stock market for a while, but for how long for nobody knows but they say a Bear market is always followed by a Bull market, so will need to take advantage of those wild swings and try and average down when those opportunities arise, I see Dan has been doing a great job with the guessing the sp game and also bagged himself a win well done you, nice to see the vod sp has held up fairly well in these challenging times, and hopefully it will make it's way back up again soon
best of luck all
Agree both YF figures are misleading, the actual yield at todays SP of £1.279 is 5.98%, so that's good.
Not so good is the last dividend cover figure as at 31st March of 0.95, remember anything over 2.0 is classed as good so VOD are not even half way there.
For those interested the dividend coverage ratio indicates the number of times a company could pay dividends to it's shareholders using its net income. Generally, a higher dividend coverage i.e. over 2.0 ratio is more favourable. So if cash earnings don't cover the dividend, VOD would have to pay dividends out of cash in the bank or by borrowing money, neither of which is sustainable long term. I'm still not selling anymore though.
Thanks Dan. Never look at Yahoo Finance so never get misled LOL.
I have enough problems looking after my lonely share.
Divi on PSN > 12%, but SP down 38% in 12 months - makes VOD look brilliant !
Cheers - C
There is an article on Yahoo Finance from Sunday, stating the vod divi yield is 3.7% & the divi cover is 1.56. This is complete nonsense of course. The actual yield is about twice the stated figure, & the cover about half.
Yes, suppose you are correct there Dan. As someone currently out of VOD how dare I suggest a falling SP.
I would like to remind all VOD holders that it may be better in short term for prices to fall so you can buy and accumulate at a better level.
In the long run we all want higher prices so we can sell at a profit.
My only holding is PSN and that has sunk quite a way recently. This is fine while I am building the position over the next few months, but ultimately I want that to rise at least £25, as it was over £30 12 months ago.
It amazes me how long some shares stay out of favour for, and they always end up in my p/f LOL.

CSDI. Oh sorry, did I leave the not out? Come on, I have to give preference to vod real shareholders? Only joking of course, but someone has to come last, & I am hoping it is you. Nothing personal of course, but the higher the sp, the better for me.
Come on you guys BE POSITIVE 130 FOR ME PLEASE
Last and least indeed ..... what are you saying ....
Thank you Dan
Sorry Dan I didn't realise I bid the same after Sidi, so if the rules allow I'll now be 1.271
