not really, although timing is everything and sometimes you have to miss a move because the prices aren't lined up. what I have noticed over 20 years or more, is that BT and Vodafone move largely in tandem. I think a lot of the buying and selling is done by fund managers who have themes, and UK telecoms tend to sit together. that said, BT tends to have more extreme oscillations. Vodafone is much more static. I suspect this is because BT has a much bigger army of small, private investors, and they tend to react more sharply when the price rises or falls. anyway, there are moments when you can make the jump, and the trick is to figure out when you should make the move. I don't take much interest in the share prices in isolation, it's more the % difference between the two prices
Hello Philip. Interesting post, but don't you find the costs of buying & selling, wipe out any profits?
Hi, I read a lot of comments willing the share price up, but maybe this is not as crucial as it seems. a high dividend, low cost share has a lot of attractions too.
I move between BT and Vodafone collecting as many dividends as I can. I use them to pay the cost of living. I do the same for my daughters, but theirs are reinvested into more shares and their share volumes have increased 40% over 3 years. In the end, should any of us want to cash out then yes, the share price is the main thing, but until then oscillating between two stable shares, both paying good dividends , is just as profitable as rapid growth on the sale price
Hello roofer. I think it is fair to point out that most (3%) of the rise on the nasdaq was due to the change in the £ to $ exch rate, so enough of these silly predictions please?! We wouldn't want to upset Nasty Narcus would we (not to mention) Happy Mikey. Hope we can have a lot of silly predictions for next week please, as it could be a bit rocky with the results coming up, could go either way of course, but I think hopefully upwards. Cheers Roofer keep it coming.
Narcus. I already know you are an idiot, so you don't need to come on here to prove it. You should try reading my post. As mole correctly pointed out the big vod rise on the nasdaq was due to the rise in the £ to $ exchange rate. My value yesterday was based on that. As for silly price guesses, there are some on here who own vodafone shares as opposed to working for vodafone, who think being positive is a good thing. Perhaps there is something about working for vodafone that turns you into a negative, miserable idiot.
Hi Narcus - no surely Dan hasnt been attacking me - haha what a surprise . Back in the 90’s this time next week !!!!
Results on Tuesday with dividend announcement.
So it’s time to hold/buy not sell will be nice to get dividend once again!!!
You are right Dan, better for you and your ilk to spout daily BS about the big rise expected this morning based on a totally incorrect logic regarding the Nas overnight, stick to the silly price guesses and keep knocking Mikey, he is all you have
Finished 12.47$ up 4.53% bodes well for tomorw Doyen Dan should of listen to your spaeman advice n gone all in .....
Vod 12.455 on the nas, which equates to about 1.06.8p So lets hope for a big rise tomorrow? That is Rockets, not ski slopes. (for the benefit of Happy Mikey)
It's very sad when Mikey only posts on here when the sp has fallen, or he predicts it's going to fall. It must be very depressing to be that negative all the time. There is nothing worse, that an ex vod employee, with a big grievance, & massive chip on his shoulder. Instead of ski slopes, how about rockets for change? It might even cheer you up? (stranger things happen)
The outsize gain on the NYSE is due to exchange rate. Dollar weakening so sterling rising 2.73% today. Dollar ADR holders get the additional gain.
Yep Dow flying tonight , inflation numbers lighter
Vod 12.46$ up 4.44% currently ....should hit 1.20p soon .....atb
lets move this up
Strong rise is down to CPI coming in lower than expected in USA. Those yanks again. Everything up, for today that is.
Deutsche Bank Reiteration
Cheapsharesboy. I agree, it is a good compromise deal. It sounds complicated, which is why perhaps, the market took time to realise this, hence the strong rise (so far) today. Of course you will always get the usual nonsense, knee jerk reaction from some on here, but that is why they are just ordinary investors, & not the C.E.O. of vodafone!
I think it's an excellent deal with up to $7B sold, still 50% retain in Vantage towers.
Why would you sell it all?
It's best to retain control of your own operations whilst realising ££££.
See if today will bring in a rise in the share price as the news sinks in
Being positive about it, they have guarenteed funds for debt pay down as it comes due in next 8 years.
Anyways, next week we hear if they are still committed to the dividend policy and if there is any sweetner.
Terrible CEO. They should have sold the whole Holding
KKR and GIP Nab a $16 Billion Telecom Consolation Prize https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-11-09/kkr-and-gip-nab-a-16-billion-telecom-consolation-prize-from-vodafone?leadSource=uverify%20wall
maybe some earnings dilution and completes in 2023 so perhaps market dissapointed not sooner. Liquidity is tight?
When do they get the upfront payment?
The amount of JV VOD will hold is variable. Intitally it is the 81% they already own. I think the initial KKR funds going in are to buy out the listed shares of Vantage. They are then looking for KKR to raise more debt to take it down to 50%.
LondonCentric. It sounds like you should stick to playing Sega games then?
How much of Vantage vod holds after the deal?
