Here comes the America open drop into the Red
This deal is almost certain to happen…..past mergers have seen mistakes by OFCOM / CMA and unbalanced the mobile market in favour of EE and O2.
My guess is the regulators will impose open access to MVNOs - that has gone badly for 3 and VOD in Italy where Illiad has been taking market share off both…..but that pain is far better than living with two sub-scale networks gradually losing to the current big two.
The alternative is two lame duck networks.
Looked good earlier - looks like we are dropping back again
I think endgame is an IPO and 3 get a return on their investment.
Shares suspended
Probably not earnings accretive as VOD are reducing their share of UK market. To get a larger share 3 are taking on some VOD debt effectively in the 51:49 JV
Like a stealth selling off of assets. New CEO will arrive too late to stop it.
My view is its a very American style strategy ie take out the competition/increase market share. It shouldbe very beneficial in the medium term thts assuming they get the numbers right !
This is Australia ? In the UK it seems all telecom service providers are going to increase prices in unison. I have already seen this from Sky and Plusnet and it was predicted by a Bloomberg analyst some time ago. so if you still want to use mobile or BB services in the UK you won't have a lot of choice. It always annoys me as a retired telecom professional how well EE do whilst VOD always had the better quality network IMO.
Is the tie up esxpected to be earnings adcretive and/or boost the share price?
Any views?
Thanks, Cheap

Vodafone, Three Putting Final Touches on UK Tie-Up
Deal to create UK mobile giant could be announced this month
Companies working to address potential antitrust issues
The point is that I, a 24 year customer and ex employee could have an amaysim , a toddler vno with 600 employees about 32 quid for suoerb coverage and calls to the uk. My wonderful vod with 100000 employees wanted £360. If they think hiking prixesxwilm work they are mistaken
Was looking like we may actually finish positive today - but oh no the last 5 mins put paid to that - like watching paint dry
'Your phone bills are almost certainly going up at the end of this month'
H1 slide 29 shows the price increase progression.
At the end of H1 there were 7 markets in UK/EU with CPI linked pricing.

'Your phone bills are almost certainly going up at the end of this month as mobile providers across the board hike prices. If you are being hit by the hikes then here are the best deals to help get things back under control.'

i hear where you are coming from narcus ,and i think vod are a bad deal , but 60 days @ £6 aday works out @ £360 when i went to school .... sorry , you sound like a labour mp distorting figures to make yer point
Apologies for messing up the maths but you get my point
I am currently in Australia, despite there being a Vodafone network here in Ozz the best the UK offered before I left was was a "£6/day" to use my unlimited calls/data, on a 60 day trip that would be £600 with a min of 1/call per day. Obviously you only incur £6 on days you use it but.... I got a amaysim here for 30 Ozzie dollars about £16.5 which gives me unlimited here for 28 days and allows me to call loads of countries including the UK with unlimited calls/data. Absolutely bonkers and how we are overcharged here in the UK
'Who else is going to build €154Bn of assets with new debt '
Well todays RNS shows the incremental nature of investment in this space and Germany in particular.
'Vodafone said FibreCo will invest around EUR7 billion, to be partly financed by debt, which will be non-recourse to Vodafone and Altice. Debt facilities of EUR4.6 billion have been arranged to support the deployment of FibreCo's fibre network.'

'rates will be higher for longer'
VOD has no material near term debt due to repay and long term coupon c2% or 2.5%
Who else is going to build €154Bn of assets with new debt at higher interest rates. Thats why Malone is also on board with E& and Niel, isnt it?
You misunderstand what happened yesterday. There was no rate decision, Powell was speaking about what to do. He let the markets know they are looking at accelerated rate increase, not a pivot to lower rates, and that rates will be higher for longer.
Big money puts it in their spreadsheet and thinks maybe we get 7% on a us treasuries later this year. Why buy vod for a 7% div that will either see equivalent capital loss or a div cut.
VOD needs that new CEO with a credible financial strategy fast.
I may well buy if the strategy and plans look good from new ceo and the price is right at the time to give a projected total return cagr above 15% next 5 years, but I doubt it somehow.
Yawn dream on, this sxxt on its way to .40p with a zero dividend with new ceo. Like all U.K. dividend stocks, capital destructive rubbish,
With more shares in sticky hands like E&, supply demand should force SP up. Higher interest rates will make margin calls more expensive. Price increases will feed through as revenue growth.
so Mole, it has gone from 4.86 to 4.89 in 24 hours, so an increase of 0.62% , Now according to you this only affects Vodafone and is a crisis that means you would never buy Vod. You really are a joke.
