It seems strange how GutterSnipe often says how nobody posting here can possibly influence the sp, in which I totally with him, but then seems to go to extreme lenghs to do just that ,with his strange predictions. Oh well, Happy Easter everybody after another good day today. Thunder, lightning & hail stones outside my house at moment, hope that's not an omen.
I'm bullish as appose to smelling bullish?t. Too much of it on here.
Listen! Strong buy. Happy Easter.
Big fall in America on Monday when our markets are closed. Still fifthteen minutes to sell out. Don't take any notice of Danny boy being bullish, he's normally an inverse indicator.

Margherita I think is going all out to secure the CEO job on a permanent basis , and is using her CFO experience to push through cost cutting, now she has some CEO power in her hands.... Read seemed more hesitant in 2022 to make decisions, whilst I think Margherita seems more willing to push decisions and move things along ..seems more demanding of the business
I am hopeful that Vodafone Business can do well once we get past this uncertainty we currently have with the economies...need Central bank pause in May
Cheers poker, well done buying at 89p. Looking good at the moment, so hope you hang on for a bit before you trade out. Good luck though with whatever you do. In poker we all dream of the royal flush, 3 of a kind should do me though, short term anyway.

I normally just trade VOD and have just bought back in at 89p. I am optimistic about the future, but short term I think things can still be pretty uncertain.....I feel we are in the hands of the Central Banks as to how things go, in general.
... another unelected gang who seem to decide our fate ...everyone messing around trying to decide what data tells them and then having to decide what the ECB or FED etc will do with it.
Pokerchips. Would I be right in saying you are more possitive about vod these days, always good to have you onside. 7Bn euro would be good, well I can dream, can't I ?
" $4Bn seems cheap "
of course it is ...it is "suggested" by Private Equity ...not a chance it will go for that low a price ..especially when you convert that to Euros !
'So they would loose 3.2b on sale.'....if they had sold immediately in 2013!
Last year they generated €1Bn ebitdal off €4Bn revenue according to the segmental analysis.
On the back of a knapkin, that rate would have generated €10Bn ebitdal off the original investment [guess]!!
There is also €4.6Bn deferred tax asset available against the continuing ONO business available to an acquirer (not included in reported group balance sheet I think).
$4Bn seems cheap and I would think the offer will be higher. Just rough figures but asset sales are what I am holding for to realise underlying value imo
New financial year. All realisation of loss has been completed by institutions. Some sold shares to offset gains elsewhere.
Institutions will be loading up from tomorrow. Hope to leave the 90s soon…
Guttersnipe. If only you could have someone on here that would agree with you, Never mind, one day perhaps. Good day today of course, well except for? yeah?
Think Danny boy has opened a second character called dibbieboy1 and he's talking to himself...
It's a strong buy. Nothing more to say. Good luck all who deserve it. The rest not. You can work out who you are. Strong buy for me.
Didn't finish in the red. Sorry for you pessimists. Saying same thing over an over though, you are bound to be right some of the time. Well done!
Hi dibbieboy. I like your strong buy tip 25mins before the 2p vertical rise. Keep them coming. Just between you & me though? I will give you the enigma settings later.
mehmehmeh. Yes that loss doesn't sound great does it, but vod has lost a lot more than 3.2 bn since2014, & as mr cautious & poker state there could be deb't obligation etc issue's as well. I think the big question is where does vod go from here, not harping on the big losses of the past, which could be to down to bad managment, or many other reasons. It's the future that counts & think it is fair to say the vod b.o.d. (whoever that will be) have a major challenge on there hands. Of course if you believe they are all just greedy, upper class twits, then you should not invest in vodafone. Good luck to ALL vod shareholders.
Carltt. I just wish the new tax year was today as I am planning to add to my I.S.A. It would have been nice to have added before the rise today. As for the question what are the odds of this ending in the red today, well obviously it was unlikely, but anything can happen of course with the stock market. Let's all hope this is the turning point for vod.
Will be adding to my ISA in the morning, glad they stayed so low!
They would "ordinarily" take on the debt associated with the subsidiary ...in the Group books each Subsidiary has their own fully separated account....it is quite possibly a separate subsidiary for tax purposes as appropriate for each tax region requirement.
Of course, any debt is factored into the buying price
Its impossible to say without intimate knowledge of the company structure. But I would say if it was set up as a wholly owned subsidiary it would probably have working capital loans and as such the debt obligation should go with the subsidiary, UNLESS a deal was done for all or part payment in the purchase agreement...
when they sell a unit does the debt go with the unit or not?. So for example if its sold at 4b eur does that unit also take on say 4b debt with it?
one of those figure is in Dollars the other is in Euros ..so needs some adjustment
On 17 March 2014, ONO announced it would be acquired by Vodafone Spain for €7.2 billion
So they would loose 3.2b on sale.
Says 4b how much did they buy it for?
