Hi dibbieboy. I like your strong buy tip 25mins before the 2p vertical rise. Keep them coming. Just between you & me though? I will give you the enigma settings later.
mehmehmeh. Yes that loss doesn't sound great does it, but vod has lost a lot more than 3.2 bn since2014, & as mr cautious & poker state there could be deb't obligation etc issue's as well. I think the big question is where does vod go from here, not harping on the big losses of the past, which could be to down to bad managment, or many other reasons. It's the future that counts & think it is fair to say the vod b.o.d. (whoever that will be) have a major challenge on there hands. Of course if you believe they are all just greedy, upper class twits, then you should not invest in vodafone. Good luck to ALL vod shareholders.
Carltt. I just wish the new tax year was today as I am planning to add to my I.S.A. It would have been nice to have added before the rise today. As for the question what are the odds of this ending in the red today, well obviously it was unlikely, but anything can happen of course with the stock market. Let's all hope this is the turning point for vod.
Will be adding to my ISA in the morning, glad they stayed so low!
They would "ordinarily" take on the debt associated with the subsidiary ...in the Group books each Subsidiary has their own fully separated account....it is quite possibly a separate subsidiary for tax purposes as appropriate for each tax region requirement.
Of course, any debt is factored into the buying price
Its impossible to say without intimate knowledge of the company structure. But I would say if it was set up as a wholly owned subsidiary it would probably have working capital loans and as such the debt obligation should go with the subsidiary, UNLESS a deal was done for all or part payment in the purchase agreement...
when they sell a unit does the debt go with the unit or not?. So for example if its sold at 4b eur does that unit also take on say 4b debt with it?
one of those figure is in Dollars the other is in Euros ..so needs some adjustment
On 17 March 2014, ONO announced it would be acquired by Vodafone Spain for €7.2 billion
So they would loose 3.2b on sale.
Says 4b how much did they buy it for?
That's so pessimistic, but I also thought the same - probably end up in the red
Whats the betting we finish in the red !!!
Why does it only show the percentage change of Vodafone share price on the London Stock Exchange website. It dosnt show the amount in pence, as it does with other shares?..jump very welcome, just need another 15 days of this to get my money back!
who bought 7 million shares lol
"The satellite thing is a good example of why I got tired of VOD. Their single satellite joint venture will hardly register against 3500 starlink sats expanding monthly to 42000."
I don't believe the business model works for Starlink. The average lifespan of a Low Earth Orbit Satellite is around 5 years, so whatever Starlink put up there now will have to be replaced within the next 6 years. My personal opinion, and I'm no expert, is that Starlink are putting up too many Satellites at too low an orbit. OneWeb seem to have the right idea with a lot less Satellites at twice the orbital altitude. Providers could also use High Altitude Platforms in conjunction with LEO's, like OneWeb, to enhance service. Starlink are trying to offer too much to too many, but that's just my opinion and time will tell.
Heavy volume in last 20 minutes too .... hummm !
Yes, spike up. But it is vodafone and anything is possible. Up up an away!
Strange mini spike
Goodbye Narcus, hear from you in a years time then, I can't wait. I better not comment on your last post though, I am trying not to upset too many on here at the moment?
A few nasty people cropping up on here lately. If you have the capacity to know who you are, I wish you nothing.
Hi to Dan. Strong buy.
The satellite thing is a good example of why I got tired of VOD. Their single satellite joint venture will hardly register against 3500 starlink sats expanding monthly to 42000.
The point is, spaceX have spent less lobbing satellites into space than VOD have paid out in divs. They could of been investing instead of building €120bn of losses and substantial debts to pay out divs.
Can they make outsize profits moving forwards. I doubt it.
I wait to see if a new CEO arrives with a credible strategy, and plans to implement the strategy.
Dan, you know you are in trouble when the village I d iot 59 stands up for you
Vodafone’s research and development team is working closely with AST SpaceMobile experts in Midland, Texas, on its test satellite, BlueWalker 3 (BW3), which successfully launched towards the end of last year.
“Once fully operational, it will allow Vodafone to provide direct-to-mobile phone coverage for customers in regions with little or no terrestrial signal,”
Vodafone is also ideally positioned to capitalise on the surge in demand for managed satellite services by enterprise customers, like utility companies, and the launch of new technologies
The strength of Vodafone’s partnerships means it has access to third party services to offer Internet of Things-type services over satellite connectivity. “Whether you are in utilities, banking, retail, oil and gas, environment monitoring or farming, having continuous access to an IoT service is essential,”
