Thank you all for posting and helping answer the IP question. Its a shame we don't have more of these constructive chats here!
Excellent work Kev, thanks for sharing
here is a link for Velocys patents I found if any use to anyone : https://patents.justia.com/assignee/velocys
Like i said i need to do more research into this area, cheers
Sense: For the record I do not want to deramp nor ramp up, I just want to supply factual info to my fellow board members and I am not related to expatbrat.
You just made another erroneous statement about the Velocys catalyst: this is the most active commercially available Fischer/Tropsch catalyst, which converts syngas in to product slate which contains molecules which a range of carbon atoms from 1 to 80+. The product has to converted to jet fuel by a different process and a different catalyst. In the Altalto project, this process will be provided by Haldor Topsoe.
Yeah good point, something I'd not really thought about. Maybe patent pending or maybe they don't need one, tbh I don't know.
What I do know is their catalyst has taken years to develop and doing this is a costly & iterative process. Their catalyst is fine tuned to deliver maximum conversion of syngas to jetfuel although others can be developed I'm not sure how they'd compete with VLS microchannel catalyst & associated FT reactor setup parameters. I'll do more research on this. I believe it to be pretty good hence why they have the IP for it.
All the best
Latest news on VLS website

Thanks Sense. So it seems to me they have IP on their catalyst but others can develop their own which still doesn't make sense to me as the IP gives them no patent rights. Maybe I'm reading this wrong!
Hi Michael, yes they have IP on their microchannel catalyst & FT reactor set up.
FT reactors themselves do not belong to VLS although they are manufacturing them and that in itself is a growing market as companies around the world are buying.
Part of the money raised from the placing earlier this year is being used to debottleneck the FT reactor manufacturing process which should increase revenues further.
Expat policy support is needed from governments to support SAF supply chains & it's on its way and will be in place before Altalto comes online. You already know this, its hilarious watching you work here.
Thanks for that sensetalka haven’t got the funds at present to invest but it looks like there isn’t going to be a significant rise this year. Will monitor for now.
But will go in the watch list.
Perhaps Sense you could clear up something for me. Above you've stated that VLS has IP on their FT process (and indeed Velocys says the same thing)....
My confusion is that the FT process is also available with other Companies (TRI for one)...so how does Velocys have IP. Or is is the type of reactor they've developed rather than the process. And if so, does that give them any advantage?
I'm a firm supporter of the Company and its aims and ambitions but not a technical person, hence the question.

Utter nonesense. I did expect 6p to hold but due to covid, us elections and brexit it hasn't. Nothing to do with VLS fundamentals, all stocks are down and you know that. 5p was the next natural place to look for support given the placing price and so far so good although it has dipped below that to my surprise. I don't see it going lower now, the market has factored in all the bad news in my view.
Bottom line, VLS is a long term hold, these dips are golden opportunities for anyone looking to accumulate shares. VLS SP will be between 50p & £1 in 2022 and you can save this comment for reference.
What happened to the ‘rock solid 6p floor’ you kept going on about? It’s on its way to 4p and headed down to 2. Simply because there is no news and meaningful revenue is 5 years away. Probably need another Placing at the end of 2021, if not sooner.
Markets are down everywhere primarily due to covid but us elections and brexit looming are also having an effect. The shrewed investor uses these opportunities to buy.
Nothing fundamental has changed here, nor in many many other good stocks. In the new year I fully expect stocks to come roaring back to life, especially the green ones, as the climate goes back to being the centre of attention.
Why are you here again expat?
All sounds great Sense. Meanwhile, we are approaching 4p.
In a nutshell they had poor leadership, dodgy dealings and different business model + numerous placings.
On the plus side that's changed now, they have IP on FT reactor technology plus have planning permission for 2 SAF plants, 1 in UK & 1 in USA.
They raised £21m earlier this year in a placing which was 5x oversubscribed and more than twice as much as they initially intended to raise.
They are partnered with BA & Shell & have been backed by the UK Government on national TV. The world has also changed drastically since the 80p days with ever more intense pressure to achieve netzero. Global aviation accounts for approximately 3% of global c02 emissions with long haul flights responsible for 2/3 of that. Vls can decarbonise aviation AND also the solve the thorny issue of what to do with all our mounting pile of black bag waste in 1 process.
Last financial report showed year on year increase in revenue of almost 200k & a reduction in operating losses of 50% indicating the new business model is the right one.
Next BIG news due is the FEED for both plants due Q1 or Q2 2021 can't remember exactly but it's in the RNS's.
Good luck
VLS has just come on my radar, can anyone give a brief on the reason for the 80p peak and then the gradual slide after? What’s the considered time scale for a future rise to a decent peak?
What news is being awaited?
