Thats brilliant. I am a big cyclist, road bikes and have seen a number of electrically assisted bikes more recently.
That looks fantastic. I guess the same system is to be used in the EAV ? What a great idea.
Really is ideal for inner city riding.
Feeks - I looked into setting up a cargo bike ice cream business too; discovered that there was an ice cream 'mafia' or cartel if you will! If you haven't already check out the Velove Armadillo as that was the vehicle I was thinking about purchasing. It's a great bike; very comfortable, high payload. I tested it a few years ago now in Gothenburg; they've gone from strength to strength.

DPD love them. Excellent driving experience. And will be even better once the Revonte stuff is sorted out. Check this out (I want one!!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlKcPrzoN1E
Main market for such vehicles will be last mile deliveries. I also had the idea of mini ice cream vans for seaside resorts- so watch this space!? First micro-depot already set up in Westminster. I'm interested in the planning policy side post Covid, which is more supportive now.
Ok thanks. I had the same thought as you, so that's a pity. I spent years following Torotrak and I think CVT would be very good for this type of application. They see their real USP as software/data, thought it seems a bit surprising
There is no doubt solar will add benefits to the basic EAV modules, particularly since heavy batteries are so bad for driving range. EAV presumably will have by now accumulated a full list of certified data - they can get this with the Revonte system. The India battery factory deal with XNRGI does not relate to EAV as far as I know. It would use the Govt subsidies on offer to hit the massive Tuk Tuk market (retrofitted)
Feeks- Yes, I contacted Revonte a couple of months back as wanted to know if they sold individual units not just OEM or direct to the manufacturer; sadly they don’t. The smooth transition through the gears is very appealing so you can set your desired cadence regardless of topography and the power assist will alter accordingly. I did find out however that you need battery power to operate the transmission, so if you run out of battery you can only use one gear; that was the situation back in May at least when I last spoke with them. On the plus side that does mean that solar would be even more useful as you don’t need much power to operate the transmission.
Forgot to say, time of year makes a huge difference in the northern hemisphere; EAV haven’t been running a whole year yet; Nov last year for DPD, so too early to say but 6 months through winter, spring and early summer is a pretty good indication which one can extrapolate over a 12 month period.

EAV they were due to showcase at the 2020 show which was sadly cancelled. Great little company, especially once they get the Revonte gear programmed into it.
I love cycling and I’ve followed cargo bikes for many years and tested a great deal of them, even went to the cargo bike festival last year in Groningen. Sadly EAV weren’t present. I also used to operate a 4 wheeler cargo bike for work. As I said in another thread, EAV are happy working with Verditek; They’re averaging 25% increase in range or used for auxiliary purposes. Greatly depends on the topography and location (in London it may be fairly flat centrally but tall buildings can limit the solar exposure at certain parts of the day due to shading/blocking. If they’re averaging 25% now for DPD (think they’ve been running with them the longest) then one could add 50% say onto that when Graphene PV is working reliably, which would equate to 37.5%.
These vehicles look like a great idea for scooting around major cities etc.
How popular are they ? Can't say that I have seen anything like this on the roads or cycle paths for that matter. Look like a great idea especially with the solar range extender.
Parob - cross board reply I have been checking the EA mV website regularly thwy updated it about 2 weeks ago (and it has a bit of a glitch on the news page.). Nevermind that though. One thing I spotted with the changes is that they ARE now offering a solar vehicle option which was not being offered there previously. This can only be good news on the solar testing which as you say should be wrapped up this month or maybe already has, given this positive outcome.
