ok so if a bid is closer to the offer then its a sale, but if its closer to the bid its a sell ?
Here's a fuller explanation: https://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/81/idiots-guide-to-the-london-stock-exchanges-setsmm-0379.html
The relevant para says:
"When an investor buys or sells stock from/to a market maker, the transaction is reported to the stock exchange. Each transaction is, of course, both buy and sell. You are the buyer or seller, and the market maker is the other party in the transaction. However, only one trade report is required. The transaction reports are published by the stock exchange with a trade type of O, and services such as ADVFN,iii and MoneyAM, who have a "feed" of information from the exchange, will list the transactions on their Monitor/Watchlist and Trades pages. Some years back, all the online services thought it would be a good idea to attempt to list these transactions as buys or sells, and devised a guesstimate system - if a transaction is executed at a price above the mid-price, it is placed into the buy column. If executed below the mid-price it is placed in the sell column.
Now, unless trading is intense and prices moving rapidly, these buy/sell columns are fairly accurate, and represent a reasonable estimate of the amount of buying/selling BY investors FROM/TO the market makers. "
neilmc..When you buy shares with a bid offer spread, if you buy at a price closer to the bid than the offer, the system reflects it as a Sale FYI. For example spread 1.90-2.05. If the market makers have stock then you might be able to buy at 1.96 which would be shown as a Sale. That’s why just looking at the screen rolls of trades is only a small part of the picture.
The whole process must take years to understand I guess, make sense what you are saying but when watching level 2 there is no way I can interpret that at speed. I guess we are just are the mercy of the markets and what will be will be.
neilmc83 - trades are reported by market participants only as trades, without being tagged as buys or sells. Sites like ADVFN have processes that compare trade prices to the quoted bid and offer at the time of the trade. If the trade is price is above the mid-, ADVFN show it as a BUY. If it below the mid-, they show it as a sell. These are only indications, and are frequently incorrect as you have seen. No-one sitting on the MM's desk is touching this process.
The good news is that if your buy was reported as a sell it indicates that you bought at a price that was toward the bottom of the quoted spread at the point you dealt. That is - you got a good deal!
starbright i disagree I am invested @0.67 average so I am in profit here and I am telling you I am also invested in ALBA yesterday I topped up 1k worth of shares. I have 2x screens one with my Halifax trading account, and another with l2 on advfn and it went through as a sell bright RED and not BLUE.
I believe that aswell Pops.
I doubt Mr Good would have been so open and positive if it was going to be a kick in the balls. Especially so late into the 45 days, we can only assume any major issues would have been communicated earlier on in the agreement, any small problems in the late stages, if any, could be ironed out.
We must remember that this is a 2 way agreement, and it has to be acceptable for both Alien and Capstone and shouldn't be viewed as a loss to Alien if a compromise was not met. Although naturally it would attack the SP.
I don't have a short (Does anyone? I'd be surprised if there is any borrow here), and I'm not looking to add to my holding. I have said nothing negative about the company.
I have commented on recent price action. As evidenced in this very thread the turnover in the last week or so has seen an influx of new investors, most of whom will have averages above 2p. They may do well from this position - I hope so.
But the board has today has been full of people making outlandish claims about buys reported as sells, II's building stakes through off-market purchases, MM's wanting your shares etc etc etc. The posters tell us that the falling share price should be seen as good news by investors! New investors MUST hold, or buy more etc etc etc. These posts are a blatant attempt to influence the inexperienced, presumably for the posters own benefit.
The simpler explanation for an SP that has gone +340% in a few days followed by -31% is that we have a spike in progress and there is plenty of room for further falls given the heights reached late last week.
New investors should treat outlandish "technical" explanations for the falling share price with caution, especially when those explanations are accompanied by instructions as to what they should do. Simpler explanations (eg SP is falling because there are more sellers than buyers now the spike has run out of fuel) are more likely to be correct.
That is all.
must watch this guys https://youtu.be/oydv8lFPeIY
It will. Truly believe the current SP is not fully incorporating the JV and drill results. Just part of a natural re-rate.
We just need to be calm right now. Let's wait and see what happens with the JV @ Capstone.
I’ll take myself to detention... thanks for the lesson. Really hope the next bit of news wipes off the loss I’ve just made and allows me stay in for the drill results from Mexico..
Schoolboy,
The most appropriate name... You have no idea how many LTH have been underwater, put the share in the bottom draw for years and and waited and are now in profit.
I hear that age old crap comment so many times. I was under water when I first invested here. Nearly sold ASAP as other shares were rocketing off and didn't want to be left behind, but looked back at my notes as to why I put my money in here and left it.
So no, it's not as easy to say when you are on a profit. I have lost enough money from this drop to pay my mortgage for 5 years, but am I bothered about it? No. Because I believe its just a correction before the next step up.
Yes, of course I do 994t
Thanks a lot for your help, you have probably been here much longer than I have and I trust your knowledge as a LTH more than any other short term trader here
Rees I do understand believe me.

Starbright.
No one who is invested is going to infer concern about the sp dropping to warn newbies etc.
Unless you are interested in trying to buy more on the cheap or have a short investment.
Eua was 1 or 2p in recent times now 32.25p.
But it drops 30+ % over the last week and may rise 30%.
That's why we're here.
This may hit 10p in 12 months, however it may not.
If you want security got to a pension provider.
not always easy sitting on profit done it so many times and before you know it, its gone. Sold 2/3 here running free now with whats left keep saying iam just going to leave it but i think i will play it by ear see what this next rns says if its all good and rises i will slice a bit more stick it eua and leave some in here and see what happens next year.
Yes exactly schoolboyknows, I'm sitting on an ever growing loss unfortunately.
Anyway, thanks guys for all ur support. Prepared to wait a long time to ride this out, I hope you can all share my frustration with the stupid MMs and their godamn off book trades
Easy to sit tight when your sitting on a huge profit
Rees
I know it’s hard and seems like doom and gloom but be patient wait till the end of the month JV 45 days is up on Friday so could be announced any time Thursday or Friday but don’t panic if it’s next week. This will I believe change the sp read the RSNs go on google put in Alien Metals watch the videos DYOR. I believe it will come good I have 5M of them and sitting tight.

FOMO yes I did that on Synairgen bought on the spike now under water after being in decent profit. Have i learnt my Lesson probably not lol. It will all come good this will teach you patience so it’s a good life experience
I seem to be a serious victim of FOMO, unfortunately between this, Alba and EUA ive exhausted my funds for now so here's hoping onwards and upwards!
Red panda been there too many times buying on the spike, then It goes against you my advise buy more to average down and just be thankful you have shares in UFO under 3p
That’s what I am hoping for another boom. I made a very nice return on paper the other day and It did cross my mind to take profit. But then I had a word with oneself “just hang on a minute Neil” the chances of this sp going back below 1p are extremely slim. What would Cause the sp to do that ? Errrr nothing as this is only going one way. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like tree shakes or the feeling when you check your profit loss ect. But when you can see your own buy order as a sell, and other investors are also saying the same, well it’s obvious to me what is really happening here. They want our shares well they can jog on they ain’t getting mine until 25-30p
Rees, I would see 10p as a [personal] target for UFO, which is why I maybe don't understand your concern, albeit I know it's difficult to see when your underwater.
For me the difference with UFO is that I see continual development occurring, so that by the time we a personal target, there are more projects in the pipeline to keep pushing your target SP up.
We are a hold and wait though. 2021 will be UFOs year. We just need to be patient.
If the JV comes in Rees, I think you will be alot more relaxed about UFO. Let's see what happens on the next 48 hrs.
Major upside for all at these stages with what is on the cards. (IMO)
You will be O. K, but it will be volatile. :)
Rees,
I'm the same, my average is 2.7p and i bought in on the spike hoping to ride the wave upwards
Unfortunately we have stalled a bit but im not worried, i think this company has great prospects and looking at the paths of other miners there is still a great return to be made
Settle in and enjoy the ride :)
