They are indeed manufacturing in batches right now. The process can be accelerated once approval received. It is being tested globally. not just UK. I believe the government did give TTG £5 million towards manufacturing. The FT article was inaccurate as has been proven by the Daily Mail article recently which completely contradicts the FT findings, (or was it just an unresearched office opinion?). IfJohnson doesn't want it, we will loose out as there will be high global demand . Still awaiting official medical approval, which is why Heathrow asked for it to be fast tracked. There are so many advantages to virolens if it gets approval in practicality, price, time and accuracy, and importantly detecting different pathogens. It is cheap and requires no laboratory test. Could be used for work, travel, sports and entertainment events. They know it works, just a question of proving the highest rate of accuracy required. Nothing is likely to be full proof, but presume they want above 98%
"In the process of manufacturing thousands of machines" ? Does that process inclusive waiting for certification? Or are they manufacturing thousands of machines?

Has Virolens got certified yet? If not anyone got any info as to where it is up to?

An alternative to virolens chosen by UK's government has apparently proved a failure:
"The 20-minute tests, on which the government has spent £323m for use with hospital and care home staff with no symptoms, identified only 46.7% of infections during a crucial trial in Manchester and Salford last month.
This means that many of those carrying Covid-19 were wrongly told they were free of the virus, potentially allowing them to infect others.
The tests were due to be used in the UK’s first city-wide mass-testing initiative, which starts in Liverpool on Friday. There was confusion on Thursday night when the council suggested they would no longer be deployed as part of the trial, but the government later insisted that small numbers of NHS staff would be using them in hospitals.
Scientists with Greater Manchester’s mass testing expert group (MTEG) raised significant concerns about the accuracy of the OptiGene Direct RT-Lamp tests this week, and said the technology should not be widely used as intended in hospitals or care homes."

It's true that the Optigene system was available much earlier, but it is also true that Virolens is available now and has not received £323m of government spending. Optigene is based right next to Heathrow yet were not chosen to provide the airport's test system. Virolens was chosen.
"Don't think TTG has missed the boat, maybe UK has if idiot Johnson doesn't pull his finger out. Plenty more countries out there will grab this"
Yes, the Westminster government is behaving like a chicken with avian flu. It's clear that the inventors of this test are not hanging around waiting for their call:

Quite Trek . Sadly an all too typical LSE poster. Completely untrue and unsubstantiated comment. Any info you can share from IAbra or do I take it that buying back in is the comment! BW
Thanks oogleflugal, I don’t consider myself a ramper. Especially not here, just read mys posts when I sold. I only bought back in after exchanges with iAbra and then I don’t have a significant amount here but enough to make a differences.
Goingundergrounds post would have been fine if it said... ‘because.....’

Nice one Trek. I see this article is dated November 1st. Still no news from Iabra or TTG which is a bit strange after there mess up with the negative FT journalist, picking holes . John Holland-Kaye's assessment couldn't be more emphatic, Virolens is the best, most accurate, easiest to use and quickest. So why are they dithering still? Don't think TTG has missed the boat, maybe UK has if idiot Johnson doesn't pull his finger out. Plenty more countries out there will grab this
Well played. This can be traded at 8%. I just wouldn’t want to be wrong side of any virolens rns. All said we have a background seller atm but it’s being mostly absorbed

Irrespective of Virolens, the price is right for a top up and so that is what I have done. I took profits when the price spiked so if there is another rise I may do so again or I may not. This stock has been good to me so far.
“
Virolens is a screening device that uses a digital camera attached to a microscope to analyse saliva samples, giving results in 20 seconds.
It's developed by British start–up iAbra, with design and manufacturing expertise from TT Electronics and technology powered by Intel, and is about to embark on clinical trials which is necessary for it to be certified for medical use.
Heathrow boss John Holland-Kaye is urging the Government to fast track the test following a successful three-week trial at Heathrow Airport as part of the Government's Condor programme.
He said today: 'Testing for Covid-19 is the lifeline that the UK economy needs to get back on its feet.
'I have experienced iAbra's test myself, alongside the PCR test - it is quicker and cheaper, and potentially more accurate.'
People swab saliva from their cheek and tongue before placing the sample in a cartridge that is analysed by the device, cutting the need for a laboratory.
The Virolens system reportedly has a 99.8 per cent sensitivity, which means almost every single person who tests positive is truly infected, and there are no 'false negatives' - when someone is wrongly told they do not have the coronavirus.
And the test has 96.7 per cent specificity, based on the results of a study at the University of Bristol, meaning just over three in every 100 people will get a 'false positive' result — when people are incorrectly led to believe they have virus.
The company said the test does not need to be carried out by a healthcare professional, making it useful for airports, stadium and music venues.
Each screening device is capable of carrying out hundreds of tests per day. The Telegraph reports each unit can test some 1,650 people per day, and 15,000 units are in the pipeline for production.”

Good effort for a ramp........TTG has missed the boat.
Yes i'd have thought we'd have got an RNS too. Check out SDI group too for a punt in the same area, they make cameras in diagnostic machines...
Thanks for the update Trek. The thing I can't understand is that if 'European CE certifications have been awarded effective last week' surely TT Electronics should have released an RNS!?
Dear Xxxxxx,
I am pleased to provide you an update on the progress of the Virolens Covid-19 screening device.
KeyOptions continues to work closely with the manufacturer to develop the go to market model for the APAC, LATAM and MENA territories.
Due to some Virolens pre-production machine modifications, there has been approximately a 3 week delay in machines being shipped to early customers. Virolens pre-production machines are expected to commence shipping ex works in the UK this week, with full production machines being available in early November.
European CE certifications have been awarded effective last week and clinical trials are currently underway around the world.
KeyOptions will be reaching out to you this week, to further advance discussions on potentially partnering on the Virolens solution in your markets.
Thank you for your patience, I know we all want to see a solution to market as soon as possible.
Regards,
KeyOptions - Virolens® team”
