The shares want to break through 290p this week it seems. I project above 300p in January when the Christmas trading results come in.
Looks like we’re going to have a strong end to the year in the run up to the Xmas results in the new year - every store I’ve been in over the last few weeks has been busy with good availability!
Alliance News) - The following London-listed shares received analyst recommendations Thursday morning and Wednesday:
FTSE 100
UBS STARTS KINGFISHER WITH 'NEUTRAL' - PRICE TARGET 338 PENCE
JEFFERIES RAISES TESCO PRICE TARGET TO 350 (330) PENCE - 'BUY'
Yes some resistance in breaking through to 290p at the moment.
Also noticed that Sainsbury shares have flopped a little and TSCO now above Sainsbury share price.
Tesco seem to be resisting the large falls Sainsbury SP are seeing.
I'm not exactly sure Millcottage as the world is strange place at the moment. I think people will be staying in and eating at home which is good for the SP but there does seem some resistance on a couple of occasions now to pushing past £2.86 mark. I do feel that Christmas trade will be good, besides Tesco traded strongly through other Covid related market changes and if you purchased shares during the lows of 2021 then you should be getting in the region 4%+ dividend. I feel this is a great place to be during uncertain times. This is all opinion without any market analysis but GLA and lets have a bumper Christmas if we can!
Will we see 300p per share break through after Christmas trading figures are announced in January 2022?
Strike threat now off.

Just for completeness the next pension increase is 3.1% in April 22 plus the £200 winter fuel allowance. Although 8% would have been more in line with reality.
Heard these rumours about Amazon for the past 6 mths and i keep think WHY would Amazon want to buy over Tesco, the UK's largest Supermarket, no real scope for expansion in an already competitive and saturated market, why would Amazon want the hassle?? if Amazon wanted to buy a supermarket they would have bought Morrisons 4 mths ago and could have competed for No1 spot, but these private equity / hedge funds only want to make short term money.
Wishful thinking ?
What do you base your assumption on?
As the title says, its on the cards folks
4% turned down by warehouse and distribution staff , and we are told they are going on strike. They should swap places with the pensioners who will have to struggle with a 2.5% increase offered by this Government . A lot of pensioners are going to die this winter through cold and not enough to eat. That is those who were not killed in the Care Homes when Covid was transferred by "bed Blocking "elderly people from hospitals to the Care Homes with no means of defence to fight Covid.
Chinese restaurants empty.revenge maybe
Yes I agree with you , the masks are not very good , but if it gives just a little bit of protection , better than nothing. Have been watching the snooker (how sad) , and am amazed that very few are bothering with masks , and quite a few coughing in arena including the ref ! With this attitude as a nation we are a bit like lemmings .
A very good response. As an exercise at work we got a couple of people to put one of the most worn masks, the blue variety.Held a cigarette lighter 6inches away and asked them to blow.Blown out both times.
Tedious but if it keeps the powers in charge happy then i will wear one
Brief we've had is masks mandatory for colleagues unless medically exempt and are prepared to offer proof to any enforcement officer, be that police, local environmental health or otherwise if challenged. In terms of customers again masks mandatory however we are not to challenge/physically refuse entry to anyone or demand proof of exemption.
The proof of exemption part puts us on a very sticky wicket re the Equality Act, and the challenging customers part is simply down to the amount of threats/assaults/spit attacks/etc that colleagues on doors faced last time around. Sadly there is a minority that believe that kind of conduct is totally acceptable whenever they don't get their own way.
Went to Tesco today. 1 in 4 customers not wearing masks. Even some staff not wearing masks. I will avoid Tesco for now - until they get their act together. Other shops are making more effort.
My local tesco has been crazy busy all weekend, bodes well!
@Eddiee - As someone with feet in the Tesco camp , are you seeing a bigger footfall in store prior to Christmas this year than 2020?
I work for Tesco and I invest in both the Save As You Earn and Buy As You Earn share schemes. I do re-invest dividends as it helps to accumulate shares that I will eventually use to supplement my retirement which is still over 30 years away!
Any gains are buried in the Covid related FTSE crash this morning.
Tesco down 1.85p as I type.
Morning Tesco investors as we get an interim dividend payout today does anybody know the figures for the percentage of these payouts that are normally re-invested into Tesco shares automatically as apposed to those that are converted into things like beer tokens and spent down the local pub lol? These re-invested share purchases should support the share price especially during a company share buy back period of activity. I suppose the proof will be evident very shortly.
@Svend - They are saying when they looked share price made them (M&S) cheap, but since then the shares have risen and now not such a bargain.
Also an article mentioned they would want to split off food sales from clothing etc and that was not easy to achieve.
They have looked at Sainsbury and M&S , Tesco might be next :-
Another imminent new take over sector target ''New York-based private equity giant Apollo Global Management is mulling a buyout of Marks & Spencer''
Looks like the impact of inflation on bottom line has pushed shares down today and probably yesterday also.
The expectation is that some of price increases will be absorbed by supermarkets rather than being passed on to consumers.
I expect the increases in market share and Christmas trading figures will bounce shares back to 290 to 300 after Christmas.
