Clegg was a lapdog for Cameron....and now he is a lapdog for Zuckerberg. A very well paid lapdog!!
Well, Clegg is a fool, full stop ....that goes without saying in my book!
Clegg is a fool, for suggesting that asking Facebook to pay money to news publishers is “like forcing car makers to fund radio stations because people might listen to them in the car – and letting the stations set the price”.
This simile conveniently ignores the fact that both Facebook and news publishers conduct exactly the same business: showing people content and selling advertising space around it.
For anyone interested in the Google/Facebook grip on advertising, there’s a really good article in ‘The New Statesman’ magazine, unfortunately I was unable to supply a workable link (it’s available via Twitter).
‘What Nick Clegg isn’t telling us about Facebook’s fight with Australia’
Gdog,
"This is about the GOOG announcement yesterday regarding cookies. "
The Google news about cookies was expected. It was one of the industry challenges, together with Apple's ITP, a couple of years ago. Look at my post about ad tech bubble bursting and point no 1 in my 3 reasons I think the ad tech bubble will burst.
Hey Bru,
Oh yeah, it's all connected. I am getting spanked in all of my babies in this sector. Luckily I'm wearing ballistic boxer shorts.
TTD, the industry leader on the DSP side, was down over 12% yesterday, currently down another ca 5% today. The rest down similarly.
...agreed! Of course it is all connected nevertheless.
Ha...I hadn't even noticed. As of this writing we're down 54p or 9.12%.
This pullback on no news is absolutely meaningless. Absolutely, positively meaningless.
It's not about MGNI, which was more than a little frothy at the higher levels (and still is a bit frothy at 41 and change in my not so humble opinion). MGNI still has a lot to prove. The company needs to fundamentally grow into the values the market is assigning it via the stock price.
This is about the GOOG announcement yesterday regarding cookies. The entire sector is getting spanked. This is nothing. we were ahead of ourselves.
......people panic for nothing!
