Whizz - hold your last thought. That is the one that may well come back to bite TG on his bottom. Also remember an RNS said almost all the land rights on which the TL will run had been secured. What does ‘almost all’ mean? It is this sort of vagueness that has fuelled my long held assertion that Tlou’s announcements and communications are often disingenuous. But no matter; the clock never stops ticking and sooner or later, all excuses are seen for what they are - excuses.
Whizzer... I do agree with you that there use of near term, close to and rhetoric of this type is very miss leading at best. TG credibility has slipped due to all the delays and I would imagine he is painfully aware of this. Hence all the Twitter activity highlight what they have been up to this last 18 months . Truth is this project needs to make strides forward .. but I can’t see that happening until PPA is sorted ... The BG seems to like the slow or no progress approach .. but in the real world things can’t be left to amble along
If we are not ready to build the lines then why raise the money and tell us the raise is to build the poles and wires in the near term? It doesn’t add up to me. Also why have a contractor sorted if we are miles away from actually doing something? Everything is as clear as mud with tlou. Gilby needs to spell it out, the actual plan of attack here and the true timescales, all this near term rubbish has worn a bit thin, I’d rather know the truth.
Whizzer, IMO the main reason the TL scope hasn't started has to be due to the PPA..! Why start building TL's that you cannot legally use. Also, if it's a Build and Transfer contract (which I believe it is) there's even less urgency to start the TL's, not only can you not use them you don't own them. I'd suggest the PPA has been cost engineered to recoup the TL scope expense plus profit, this would make the details of the PPA more complex. Can you see either the BG or BPC paying for and project managing the TL build, I don't think so.
As for Orapa Brad, I thought that that project may have become plan A but have been told the grid connection is still No1 priority.
Given up looking for that confirmation - all I found was in the Quarterly reports which said "The Company will review the tender documentation and subject to meeting the eligibility criteria plan to submit a response. The tender closes in May".
Assuming they did meet the eligibilty content OR MORE LIKELY did not like the criiteria and requested it to be changed (after the RFP fiaso) - hence the extension that ended yesterday?
When they raised the TxL preliminary cash, Orapa's tender had not been issued , so could it be our plans are being delayed pending that tender approval or not. If we are successful, Mamba needs reviewing plus, perhaps, some plant needs to be hired or bought as a priority?
I can only assume either they are waiting for the PPA . Before committing funds or the covid restrictions in country make it difficult to do it cost effectively. In the UK all building materials are rising exponentially Due to a number of factors , so may be the same there
Not sure I agree with the sentiment expressed here that management need to push out an RNS just to say they responded to a local tender. I don’t see that, in itself, being something that requires a regulatory news announcement. Of course, it would be nice if the Mgmt Team kept us up-to-date on what they are doing - but isn’t that the purpose of the quarterly releases. Another way of interpreting the lack of telling us via announcement is that they maybe (and I emphasise maybe) don’t think either they have much chance of success in getting an award or worse, they don’t actually see much prospect of generating sufficient volumes of gas in the time frame needed to supply the Orapa tender (said purely on the basis the 100MW pilot tender is taking so endlessly long to conclude). And, of course, maybe Mgmt Team are extremely optimistic that they are going to win the Orapa tender, or get a very large chunk of it (certainly I hope so) such that they do not want to draw public attention to this potential commercial contract given the shenanigans around the 100mw pilot project. As always, time will tell. And no doubt Smith will chime in with links and opinions and stories which we will all roll our eyes upon reading .....
Well someone did put up some big money on the raise that’s for sure so maybe you’re right winni. But it is still very frustrating/soul destroying not hearing anything positive on any front! What is your take on why the funds haven’t been put to good use yet on starting the poles and wires?
All the Aim companies are the same ...PI 's are always the last to know anything..Put it this way there has been no big sell off and the rights issue was successful without much pushing. iI would seem, so things may be better than they seem from your perspective and to a point mine too!
I’ll post it here if I get a response, but I’m not holding out much hope of one, that is why I posted here in the first place winni!! The company’s relations with share holders or the smaller pi is non existent but I expect the larger shareholders are more than aware of what’s happening IMO. Come the end of the year hopefully gilby will hand over to someone else if he can’t get us moving!!!
