I’m afraid it’s probably a case of more questions than answers. We know 2 things for sure tho :
1) there is an algorithm-bot working the Nasdaq in order to bring the price down/suppress/manipulate it
2) Short Selling on the Nasdaq is making up between 15% and 30% of the total Nasdaq volume for 9 of the last 10 trading days
These 2 things are not necessarily linked, but it’s a stretch to think they are not. To my mind the Algo-bot is being used to bring down the share price, because as far as I known you cannot use an alto-bot for short selling. This means that someone is either shorting this on the Nasdaq and is using an algorithm-bot to help manipulate the price down (I.e. one in the same person) OR, someone is shorting this because they know someone else is running an alto-bot and they are taking advantage of that by shorting the stock. The other option (and probably the one subscribe to), is that the Algorithm-bot is being used to drive down the price on the Nasdaq (whoever is using this is also shorting it, because Why wouldn’t you make money from a falling price if you are controlling it) while at the same time attempting to fill a large buy order either for them self, or for a client either in the US, in the UK, or both.
At some point, these short positions HAVE to be covered/closed tho, because if they are not, whoever is borrowing the stock will be liable to pay the owner of those shares the value of the Demerger shares missed out on. So for example, if someone borrows 1m shares to short sell and doesn’t buy them back and return them to the original owner prior to the Record Date, they would have to pay the owner of those shares 1m x the price of each AccuStem Share (because the owner wouldn’t qualify for free shares at the cut off date).
Obviously I have idea on timelines etc for this, but once short positions start closing into a such a small Free Float, this will go up so quick you won’t believe it.
This is being played BIG TIME, so hold on to those shares guys.
No lupus, if someone has borrowed shares to ioen a short position and they have that shirt position open when the demerger record date passes, they will be in the unfortunate position of having to give the lender back the shares they borrowed when the position closes and also purchase Stem shares and give those to the lender too so the lender is in the same situation they would have been had they not lent the shares. That could prove difficult if Stem shares aren't immediately tradeable on the markets so I would expect any short positions to close by 27th October in order to be confirmed on the register by 7am on 30th
I have taken further advantage of this unfortunate situation this morning by topping up - another 5000 @ 138.2p. I could have purchased 10,000 for the same price, but prefer to monitor the situation to see whether the short-term selling takes the share price lower. It would appear that there is plenty of liquidity for the time being, presumably because investors are panic selling in reaction to the share price dropping, or perhaps automatic stop-loss selling is taking effect at these prices?
Whimax ,
Just a quick question , if one of the us funds has lended their shares to shorters would'nt they need to get back those shares to benefit from the demerger ?
Those that give us a possible deadline for the shorters to close their positions ?
the problem with this being shorted state side PI's know the sp will drop, so do they buy now knowing they will see a loss all be very small, or do they try and catch the bottom......lots of us here are in the red here and the trading volume has been very small so even the traders aren't making money here, so untill next month i dont see a change in sentiment and then it will be a fight for shares, so for me its hold, buy more and watch my investment grow in the next month
There is no way I am selling before the Covid 19 trial results. Foralumab is the biggest drug candidate for Tiziana with many more possible applications, and if the trial prove it works, then sky is the limit. I will be happily waiting 3 months for the results. GLA
So simple really - lol !!!!
LeddachJack,
Spot on...if nobody sells, then logically they need to increase the SP.
Unless the evil forces are at it again....then no hope for us.
GLA
It definitely is interesting, thank you. A couple of questions if I may:
- Do you have a sense of how significant this in the volume terms of the total shares traded (across AIM and Nasdaq)
- Do you know how this compares to a typical share? Ie what would a ‘normal’ percentage of shorts on Nasdaq be?
- I assume we are certain they are shorts and not ordinary sells right?
- Do you know how long this trend has been going on for?
- Any thoughts on why this is happenning?
Thank you, really appreciate your insight on this
Hi Whimax
It's very interesting - please keep it up.
Who do you think is doing the stock lending to facilitate the shorting? Or are there other ways to short these days?
Whimax, please keep up the good research. Vbw
I hope I’m not boring everyone with this Shorting stuff. If I am, just say, and I’ll stop. I just feel it’s better to be aware, of what imo, is the main reason the share price is performing as it is, particularly on the Nasdaq.
At some point this will be released and the price will increase very very quickly.
In the very naive and simplest of terms, if no one sells and they are looking to fill orders, eventually they have to move it up. If only everything was that simple !!!
Shorting %age on Nasdaq yesterday was 22% of total volume traded.
Still being manipulated/suppressed.
Here’s to a better day today folks. It’s coming. Trust your research and don’t let the big boys steal your shares.
