I think they don't want more than 4 operations at once. I recall elsewhere that they want to really focus on a limited number of high quality businesses and don't want to get spread too thin.
TEK are on the first leg of the journey with these four models. Imagine what's next at how much easier it will be with the lessons learnt.
Thanks for response. When I tried to sign up with MicroVentures, I was asked if I was a sophisticated investor. As I've never thought of myself as sophisticated at anything, the question threw me somewhat. Turns out sophistication opens the door to additional opportunities.
At about 23mins into this August 2021 interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocLSXWkLaRI
"We are tracking a number of technologies for potential acquisition. Before we pull the trigger for our next technology acquisition to build our next technology portfolio company we want to see some more meaningful progress from our portfolio companies. "
This gives the impression, before making another acquisition, either TEK aims to monetise at least one of their current portfolio companies, or they want to see the TEK sp moving up significantly before issuing more equity. Could be a combination of the two of course.
Agreed Ace, I like the diversified portfolio too.
Seems like TEK, as a business model, discover interesting IP patents, form a company from them, bring them to fruition, then take them to market - the idea to have a 'conveyor belt' of companies at different stages of development.
TEK board seem astute to me, don't think they'll jump too early, but will need capital to progress the company - better than constant raises??
I am invested in Tek because they have fingers in lots of different pies
However if the BOD sell our stake In bell. too early for my liking I will consider buying into bell.
GLA
Afternoon Ace12
It's my possibly rough understanding of TEKs business model that they will sell off the stake in BELL (maybe not completely??) so as to have capital, in order to instigate new IP companies within the portfolio. And continue to repeat the process.
Us shareholders will receive a proportion of the funds accrued in the form of a Special Dividend.
In that scenario, given the way you feel about BELL, you could invest that dividend in buying BELL shares??
Stu
With the products that Bell are lining up I do wonder if the likes of Phillips or Inogen might look for a purchase ???
Some of you are hell bent on selling our stake in bellascura ASAP.
Some wanted to sell at the IPO
Look at the price compared to IPO price
Be Patient
Bellascura will be worth multiples in a couple of years
Hi CM
You're 100% right about TEK CM. It definitely trades at a discount and that's why it's such a gem. Also I think a lot of people have misunderstood the model in the past, but with Belluscura and the crowdfunds for LUCYD and SALARIUS, we know how it works. With those too TEK will end up with far higher stakes too so they are also getting better at operating their own model, as you'd expect.
Yeah, IMO they'll be lining up another IP for spring next year, which they'll fund out of their retained portion of their Belluscura stake and with such a wide choice you just know it's going to be well interesting !
Thanks cm22
Agree with your thoughts on TEK completely, just the $5m pre money valuation on Microsalt seems slight considering the news recently
If I do decide to venture, it wouldn't be macro, so to speak
Stu
Sorry TopCatz & Stu,
I don't know too much about these crowdfunding avenues. I only invest in TEK. I still think it is the best value way to get into TEK. I see the Tekcapital share price as still materially undervalued. Simple arithmetic will tell you that. I tend to think that grouping all these investments into 1 investment trust seems to create a discount where It should be the other way around. The TEK model provide added value in that the TEK board can provide valuable oversight and network for the subsidiary companies. Also, when one company gets into trouble the others can compensate. So stability in numbers.
Also, missed is the research network that TEK maintains. It is not just the 4 companies on there own which should be added together but TEKs amazing network of new research ideas and services that it provides to universities.
I bet the next patent that they commercialise will be amazing. This is the first time they have done this, so they will have learnt from there mistakes and will know what to do better next time. They have also had a long time to choose the next venture.
Yes, for sure TI. I think we already have a few trolls that weren't there when it was at 4p a share.
You can do it from UK need passport for ID fairly straight forward
Indeed TI, the higher SP might well make it all worthwhile though
Make the most of it! The higher the SP, the more it attracts derampers/shorters/trolls. I agree this is a great board to date.
Thanks again TC
Must say this Share Chat Board is pleasantly level headed and informed (currently lol)

I'm pretty sure you can only do this stateside. If not I've made it way too complicated. Microventures look Kosher to me and have been around awhile so reasonably confident they can be trusted. (Hopefully not famous last words :/)
Anyone have a link? Will at least have a look, when I have the 'means'
Thanks in advance
640k raised so far not sure how up to date that is
No worries, didn't explain myself very well - awaiting funds, which may arrive too late, you guys should do well from it imho
Stu
Also there's no way out once you've got past your 'right's to cancel etc but I may be wrong so probably not for everyone.
Thanks TC, in theory it sounds good the way Salarius could go, but maybe too late anyway
No idea Stu I'm afraid and it may depend on how any potential remuneration is awarded.
IP3LY and CM22 may have a better idea
The crowdfund crossed my mind, but prefer to invest via my ISA - not sure of the tax position/implications...any info guys?
