Yep that's one of your go to buys - no stamp duty - makes sense.
Wonder where this sector will be Thur morning
MNG is due to pay out 15.77p in May ex div on the 16th April @ a sp of say 1.20p that's 13.1% - expect some volatility there.
G
Bought EMG again for second time and i am happy with 3 to 4 p movement .
i got no plans to keep anything long for now.
Volcano - also closed out IMB. Not a great favourite sector of mine but it's been beaten up and not just over the last month or so. Looking for rns confirming cash or funds in place to ride this out. May go in again if there are future dips.
As well as trading I'm looking to re align my long term portfolio, which is over heavy in some sectors and light elsewhere. Am aiming to transfer out of the odd share down 20% in one sector for another that's 20% down where I am light lol.
G
Gerry i have closed my deals already mate, i have missed that RNS on IMB this morning but i reckoned you will do OK there,
people smoke in good and bad times , i used to twenty five years ago.
Hi Volcano - PHNX and EMG are good to trade today and maybe tomorrow, I'm guessing you'll be out before ex div day on Thurs mate.
I went for IMB this morning on the back of that RNS.
I see STOB is holding 45p this morning.
G
Luckily i didn't followed Pharma's this morning ,
nice work for less than hour ,time for cup of coffee.
Hi Gerry,
The harder hit companies are bouncing back but i am still sticking with LGEN ,PHNX and EMG ,
try to to chase few this morning but i got put off ,maybe it was a mistake. KAPE and ALFA.
Pharmaceuticals will do OK today ,
Hi Volcano - any idea why STOB has bounced up into the mid 40's or high 40's three of the last five trading days. Let's see how it opens tomorrow. Might be worth a punt if its sitting in the 30's tomorrow afternoon at around 4.00 - 4.15.
Are you watching EMG/ PHNX / SLA / QLT - running into their ex div dates on Thurs ( my post earlier today at 14.01 - potential risers tomorrow and Weds, or value traps on Thurs ).
G
That is nearly 20% rise of the lows for STOB today.
Stobart Group Ltd
STOB
45.60 GBX
+2.40 (5.56%)
USA markets holding up strong for now
That's three days out of the last five that STOB has bumbled around then rose after the close, today finishing at 45.60 - up 5% + on the day. Has anyone any thoughts on this.
Lets see if the US markets hold after our close this time, or if they slip back in later trading as they have been doing lately.
Be good if they could hold their day highs into into their market close, maybe giving UK markets a bit boost tomorrow morning.
G
As we await any further news, on STOB, either by way of any update to the RNS dated 17th March, broader Sector news ( EZJ confirmation RNS today excepted ), like many I guess I'm looking at other sectors for opportunities.
Volcano You've mentioned you have been in and out of EMG and PHNX recently, I've dabbled in AV. and LGEN, and today I've made just a few quid on QLT ( only enough to pay a months council tax ) lol.
However we are moving into Dividend season with 4 going ex div this week on Thurs 2nd.
EMG / PHNX / SLA / QLT. three offering around 3.5% - 3.9%, with SLA offering around 6%, though these figures were based on Friday close sp values. All div payments are due in mid May.
Today has seen more volatility - normally you could anticipate a share rising into EX Div - say Wed 1st, then fall back on Thur 2nd by close to the amount of the div.
So are these potential div opportunities, or definite Ex Div value traps on Thurs ?
G
I'm on day trading atm - not looking to hold for the longer term,
Few years ago PFG was in trouble like that ,FERG looks good financially .
now there are so many out there, just picking the right one, but not that easy.
PLUS 500 used to sponsor West Ham before they come on the market
in 2013 and i have been in and out few times, but they are always volatile.
enjoy your weekend researching
some of the shares in my watch list recovered in the last two hours,
see what Monday brings.but looks good.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52066303
Rent-to-own giant BrightHouse is close to collapse, the BBC understands, putting 2,400 jobs at risk.
The company is expected to fall into administration on Monday after facing an influx of compensation claims for selling to people who could not repay.
Stricter lending rules had put the business under strain long before shops were closed owing to coronavirus.
G
Volcano-i'm looking a the week chart for FERG, its back below 5000. I did ok earlier this week - wow
On Monday it was below 4000, it hit 5500 yesterday afternoon, now back down below 5000, its a lovely chart - providing you were on the right side of the movements.
It's on my watch list for a day trade, when market sentiment changes again and we go on a run northwards.
I bet there are dozens of quality shares with the same pattern out there.
Probably no need to take any massive risks out there next week - could be more than enough to be made from the FTSE 100.
Sure everyone has their eye on something.
G
Same here mate i got two weeks in May and two weeks in September in Europe,
but looks like my back garden is the favorite for now ,lol
With China closing its borders to prevent a second wave, it could be that even when Countries come through the other side of this it may be that borders will need to remain closed around the world.
Not sure I'm going to get a Summer holiday this year !
Still got 2 weeks in Morocco booked for mid Sept.
Emmm.
G
Not in times like this Gerry, it is very scary out there. keep safe mate.
Gerry ,
In this volatile markets I am sticking with companies i trade regular ,
and there are financially sound for now, i think they are lol.
SPT, SLA, LGEN, PHNX,AV.,LLOY and EMG no stump duty on this one.
magnificent seven NOT today they not, maybe Monday.
on my watch-list only few are in the green out of eighty .
https://www.lse.co.uk/share-prices/sectors/
doesn't make attractive reading today. really pleased I didn't carry any trades over last night. Am guessing a few may have got their fingers brunt.
Does anyone feel confident enough to carry a trade over the weeekend ?
G
Hi Volcano - been watching HFD - it is swinging around. But it's one I'm going to steer clear of at least this side of the weekend. Not sure many bikes are going to be ordered, and based on what my friends are doing - not many young to renew MOT's or have cars serviced at least for the present.
There are a number posters over on that bb that are in deep. One who has been posting s lot bought in around the mid 1.50's a few weeks back, and posted that because pleased with his price.
Here's another strange one - TPT, stores closed but you can order online. A close friend is looking to use up his spare time to re tile his bathroom. He had already chosen the tiles he wanted, very nice too. He needs around 200, I said " good luck with that order" wouldn't want to be the delivery person dropping those off at his place lol. Yet since the rns the so has gone up. I was hoping for the mid 20's for a trade.
So Boris has the virus, emm wonder how many in Parliament may have come into contact with him. Good news that it's closing down for a period.
G
Yes i was expecting HFD to go down on the news of 25/03/20 and i bet that surprised many people as well.
If you're looking for another nice swinger, HFD has been bouncing between 75 and 90 after they found out they would be allowed to stay open - likely to rise further (they were sitting at around 160 before corona news hit)
WWW it is then - TLY popped up earlier in the week for me - glanced at today's rns- nice rise this morning . No nothing about IXI.
All sectors down today, several solid long termer's are back in my buying territory.
Looking at Banking / financials / Builders / Heathcare /Consumer goods - where there are 5 % + then 5- swings almost on a daily basis, great fun but you have to have eyes in the back of your head.
Wonder how the US markets will react today, and what sentiment will be carried into the weekend on both sides of the pond.
There was me a while back wishing for a bit of volatility in the markets, as it was getting a little dull - well be careful what you wish for lol.
