GL,
Have a look at the charts for NBP day ahead vs TTF day ahead year to date. This explains better than anything else the divergence in SQZ / KIST

Pretty much **** all physical delivery gas trades at spot fyi. It’s all contractual and those contract prices can de miles away from this imaginary spot price. Going forward, Look from sep onwards where we will be agreeing supply contracts with utility providers for winter 2022/23. All above 200p.
GL,
Agree … ;-)
Certainly would do that’s why I’m here lol
Fwiw I don’t think the price action at Sqz has anything to do with gas prices and/or windfall tax, Kist has been unmoved in months whereas Sqz has lost 25% and they would also be moved by these issues
Something else going on here imo, either a distressed seller or something else, the cynic in me thinks it’s for somebody to get Sqz on the cheap, far too volatile - remember Sqz has 50% of its mcap in cash, if anything it should be less volatile than Kist (fyi I’m invested in both)
GL,
Mirror of RRE would reward all shareholders handsomely…
Does anyone have a link to the spot price i can’t find it
Of course spot is used by Sqz but also we sell at a premium too afaik
Must just be Sqz getting the windfall tax judging by the performance of other ns heavy o&g companies (iog excluded with their production issues)
I also see similarities with the drop in sp pattern and RRE’s takeover fwiw
GA, away from my desk atm … so you may be correct but I also think that £1m pd is on the low side… will check when back.
Then as you know with almost guaranteed gyrations in NBP we could as easily be at +£2m pd in no time too. All the fun of the fair as we ride the NBP rollercoaster.

SQZ are being primed and ripe for picking by any number of PE backed outfits imo…. Our rapid fall and continued pressure to subdue our SP is akin to RRE just before that fateful day ….
Cash is always king and SQZ are making £millions£ FCF …. Each day that passes is another ~£1.4m net added to our massive cash hoard with ZERO debt to service too.
At ~300p our SP is a wise choice for any investor imo.

To add to what I’ve written below … this is an argument for a significant buy back which will reduce the float and should dampen the share price volatility. Lower vol will have a positive knock on impact in that banks and brokers will assign higher LTVs which will support more margin lending leading to more buying.
All in my opinion only and please do your own research
Part of it is 271.74 mln shares outstanding for SQZ and KIST only has 82 mln. SQZ also has a much higher free float as AA and Tulip have more than 27% between them and they are likely not selling anytime soon.

People are probably also fearing the Windfall tax, which is all but a done deal at this stage. It won't matter if some companies do invest their profits, as long as a few don't that'll be enough for the 'social license' to do it to be drummed up. It's coming unfortunately. We don't know the details yet, maybe it'll just be another 5-10% on top of the 40% already paid. Egregious level of taxation yes but it won't be the end of the world, not with the amount of cash companies are generating. What it will do however, is actually reduce investment and make the supply situation worse and thus prices higher. There will be ways to massage your profits too so as to limit the amount of tax payable.
If it does get in, it also won't be a one time tax, it will stay.
I don't think Joe Bloggs retail investor has any idea how much cash this company is making. Also this stock is on the AIM which is full of fecking traders. People cannot hold a stock for more than 10 minutes these days.
Anyone have any theories why Sqz is volatile af whereas Kist doesn’t budge at all?
thanks for the clarification. I'm now happy to continue holding
do we sell at 'UK NBP day-ahead prices' ? which are low at the moment.
