Rachel. I'm not offended by you wanting to participate and I don't want to hunt anyone down on linked in or anywhere else for that matter. I'm not interested in your age or your career (the finance industry?, and asking dumb questions like that??) but you still don't get it, do you. All I want is a BB with posters that I and others can believe in; with information that I and others can trust.
What you posted didn't and still doesn't hang together. Did you use a different URL to bypass lse security and gain an additional account name? It's a bit late to say posting your real name wasn't a good idea yet still leaving your real name for all to see, and now with additional personal details?
You say you put in 10k which I queried. That then turned out to be £2,000 cash into MOGP so it must have been at least a month ago followed yesterday by another £10,000 in cash into SPC. Right?
Given your stated long career in the finance industry you must be aware of the strict measures in force to prevent money laundering. Would you mind telling this BB which broker or other financial institution accepted £10,000 in cash from you just like that for the purchase of electronically tradeable shares? Like you just walked in and handed the cash over? Did they ask for passport / driving licence ID? Did they give you a receipt and a contract note?
What was wrong with your traceable debit card? Why not just buy online into this year's ISA for instance? You'll know about those, won't you, having a finance industry background? And through being a long term investor in other shares - over a year in ORPH hoping the sp hits your £1 target, EUA presumably since its return from suspension last July and awaiting the FSP outcome, VELA with a £9m Mcap and over 12bn shares in issue + 3bn warrants-worth of dilution to come, Nasdaq listed RKDA and whatever else you haven't mentioned?
Being invested in those other shares where many deeper questions than "why are buys marked up as sells" could justifiably be asked, why was your first post only now on here when you've been an lse member under the Racheldenton (real name?) moniker since mid January? And I don't buy the scary BB bit. What's intimidating about the ORPH BB, eh?
You see Rachel, when you put all that together - you being a novice newbie investor and all that crap with an unusual bio/pharmatech biased UK and USA portfolio voluntarily declared - none of it rings true to an old hand like me. I could ask what name you posted under last year but frankly I don't care. If you're genuine why post all that b0llox? Why come the naive innocent and for what purpose? We'd have been just as welcoming if you'd been straight with us but look where being devious has got you.
You started this thread but now you want to call time on it because you've been caught out. Enough said all round, I think.
Thank you Newboy58
I see from his/her posts earache is very knowledgeable, I mentioned the other the stock I hold hoping they would say they were good choices or not. I don’t know anyone that invests in the stock market so no one to bounce my ideas off.
Anyway I think I will just tread carefully on what I post, I’m not here to make enemies or upset anyone.
Good to see Earache making friends and playing nicely with others.
Ramming his tripe down any newbies throats that they are not genuine.
The bloke is brilliant........ long live Earole....
Jesus earache, if anyone deserves their username it's you...
Rach you have nothing to apologise for, it's earache who can be up his own arse sometimes
Thank you earache...... like I said you are more than welcome to hunt me down on linked in, add me and maybe you can see the real me. I’m no liar and there’s no need to be so harsh.
I think these messages have gone on long enough now, sorry you have been so offended by me wanting to participate on this BB.
Can we move on now? I promise to be very carefully what I say/post from now on... .... ;-)
Johnski. I'm the softest pussy cat you could imagine, until people mess with the truth. Calling them out - on their own evidence mind you - is not bullying. It's telling them I've got their measure, warning others to beware and trying to keep this BB honest. If you're shocked by that then a less outspoken environment may well suit you better. This no place for the rightous who get offended on behalf of others. That's woke gone mad, and imo it's daft enough to start with.
AIM is our Wild West of the investing world. Many of the companies are no more than life style sojourns for the Directors who raise money from the gullible public, promise the earth and fail to deliver whilst lining their own large pockets before dumping the company and its broken investors and doing it all over again. That's the real world.
BB's are often populated by many with similar mind sets to those Directors. They lie, manipulate and prey on genuine people like you who think all is sweetness and light. If you've been taking notice of them then that's perhaps why you "progressed from there to a few disasters and now just have two shares". That's also the real world.
I've welcomed many a newbie to that real world on the BBs I post on, just as I did with Rachel. I've freely shared accurate research with genuine newbies, pointed them in the right direction, but I'm equally open and forthright in exposing those who's stories don't hang together. Rachel's didn't so I asked pertinent questions which she failed on. That's her problem not mine in this real world.
Many of the people you've met and cared for throughout your working life will be so grateful for your skills. To have done that job means you have a gift shared by all too few. But that gift, that empathy and willing belief in others, is also an open door to the predators you'll find on BB's wrongly advising you to do this or do that or explaining things they themselves obviously don't understand, and you'll get mugged.
You're clearly naive in market matters and copying garbage that someone else posted without recognising it as garbage proves that, but you don't like to be told so. We all started somewhere and I, for one, never stop learning in these ever changing times but getting stroppy with me or calling me names for pointing out the absurdity of what you posted is not the answer to getting the best out of an experienced old hand or the knowledge on the web. A newbie who's lost money wanting to help another newbie? Hmm.
You're right to talk about us being anonymous strangers. What you post is all we see and your efforts so far have been none too impressive. I withdraw none of my reply.
Save your personal insults and sarcasm for when we meet. AIM's a tough life; no cream buns and no prisoners taken. I'll leave you to learn or live on in blissful ignorance - and a nice tete a tete with Rachel.
These message boards are strange places - full of strange, opinionated, thoughtless, egotistical, keyboard warriors - among them there are knowledgeable helpful trader/investors - be selective in what you read and what you say, if your unable to take criticism I wouldn’t even come on here - there other places to gain info/knowledge.
Johnski, LSE BB's can be a tough for many, money always brings out the best in people. I wouldn't sell out on another users post, either respond or ignore. There are filter buttons on LSE. I think Earache has some good knowledge, he/she has probably been round the block several times on LSE, but this is the world of LSE, way to many sharks and charlatans. Its not the 1st time Earache has gone off on one, sure it won't be the last, sounds like he has bitten the wrong end of the carrot, down to him/her to decide to suck it up and aplogise or not, GL to you.
Rach80, I reckon you can look after yourself, this is one of the more friendly boards, when/if this goes wait too see what users rock up. GL.
Thank you and you are totally correct in what you have said.
I’m 40 years of age and most of my working career I have worked in the finance industry, I took a 6 year break and did some property development. Both industries are very male driven so I have broad shoulders.
Everyone is entitled to have their opinion, but bullying and belittling people is not nice.
Earache, I’m happy for you to look me up on linked in should you feel the need to see that I am being genuine.
Jonski if you sold every stock because of someone on the bb you didnt like then you would have no shares as there that many bullpapers and numpties on everyboard. Put your dummy back in and enjoy this stock which will no doubt make you money. Surely that why we are all in it to make money nothing else. Good luck
Never sell because of a post on a bulletin board. Trust your reasoning behind buying. Otherwise it’s a waste of time.
Wow, what an angry person you are. I read your message about an hour ago and just shocked by your level of bullying that you would go to that length to berate someone you have never met, don't know anything about. I feel like a scolded boy whose failed his french test. How dare you speak to strangers that way in that tone. i am a complete newbie, sorry i didnt realize it was a sin, we're not at prep school you know! I'm 68, spent my working life working with people with disabilities and for the last 10 years in mental health. i retired last June and thought I would buy some Lloyds shares as they were low. I progressed from there to a few disasters and now just have two shares. How dare you assume you know anything about me. You are an ignorant aggressive bully. I dont know Rachael from Adam but, taking people at their face value she posted about the sell/buy red blue so, having been in BOIL, now out, I copied, that is COPIED, text from, who I supposed to know a hell of a lot more that me, about shares ie
"This is an explanation given by 'hopingforbags' on BOIL. He has a lot more there too, but here is his explanation. I have heard similar before but as usual DYOR."
My sincere apologies that this has so vividly offended your sensitive nature and fine sense of accuracy. I did it because I assumed this to be the reason and because I wanted to help a newbie like myself.
I will be selling out here now as I could not continue on the same BB with someone who reacts as you do to complete strangers with your level of bitterness and recrimination over what is basically nothing.
Look at yourself a bit more closely and your reaction and effect on people. There are genuine people in this world you know.
Yea earache we actually know nothing lol the recent big buys seem relatively confident for me that does help. I think the announcement of who brought the shares could be fun if its a sensible investor but day by day at present.
Overall I feel kinda comfortable in this share and quietly confident this will have steady climbs
So you're 10k was actually 12k then?? Sterling?? And you paid for them in cash??
As I said - just a load of b0llox. Foreign Office to you.
No beer garden unfortunately..... however yes a nice G&T would be lovely.
I changed my user names as I did not think using my full name the best idea!
You asked why I picked spc as my first investment and I told you it wasn’t that open orphan was my first and the rest have simply followed for research I have done.
I put 2k cash into spc pre name change then invested 10k cash yesterday, I do read these boards and no I’ve not posted in the past and I honestly did t want to offend anyone in any way, just to dip my toe and start getting I involved in some chats, just not these type.
Thank you for you post yesterday giving advice.
Nothing gets past you Earache - she’ll be sitting in a beer garden somewhere with a G&T red faced !
Haha well said. Earache
Racheldenton, or whatever your name is. You said "I’m new to investing so trying to learn as much as I can. I find these BB’s very useful, it’s my go to place when I’m doing my research on any new shares I’m thinking about buying." I cautiously took you at face value and offered some sound advice about posters on these BBs.
I asked what on earth made you choose SPC as your first investment but you've ignored the question. Instead you tell us you've been invested in ORPH since 9p. Well, that's more than a year ago. You tell us you're also invested in VELA, EUA and RKDA. Well then, so much for being a poor newbie seeking help and advice.
And the 10k you say you've invested here? No-one, not even a dumb newbie, slaps £10,000 into what was MOGP at the time you claim when nothing at all was known about SPC. I'm guessing therefore you meant 10k shares which would be about £30.00 + fees. Really? That much? And such a momentous act was sufficient to cause you to put up your first ever post???
You said "Yes I think all the negative/trolls is what’s puts me off posting on these boards plus I’m a novice so I’ve been building up the courage." You follow that with "I actually really enjoy reading the chat boards, I’ve picked up many tips on how to research ........ " So you've been investing for over a year in numerous stocks based solely on what you've read on BB's but never posted on their BBs? What a load of contradictory b0llox.
You've been reading BB's and investing for over a year yet you have to ask why buys show as sells? How many times has that one been answered on these BB's? Are you for real?
Part of my advice was to watch out for people with multiple names yet here you are, before your first day on this BB was out, with an extra new name yourself. Eh??? Go do one Rach80 or whatever the feck you want to call yourself. "I’ve no reason to lie ", you say. Well I say take your faux innocence and naivety somewhere else - you're not even good at it.
Johnski - another new member of less than a month and posting a load of b0llox about buys as sells. "They use a BEST GUESS algorithm"??? "They turn down modern tech for TRADITION"??? [Your caps not mine}. Next you'll be saying they prefer quill pens and parchment and send little boys scurrying between offices with arms full of still drying scrolls. You're a typical example of those who think they know it all and use a BB to pass false information to others. Fools advising fools. Ha.
Google the question. Investopedia or any simple markets guide will explain, but if you must post fiction instead of fact at least have the decency to call yourself Enid Blyton.
Cross ramp goon. You forgot to mention a.z is a complete waste of time and useless at running a company
As well as invested here, I'm also in SYME. If you like a roller coaster ride then have a look! The BB is always busy, passionate, despairing. 3 items here today so far, 110 on SYME. DYOR of course.
Rach80, welcome aboard. ATB
Welcome Rach, nice to have some more folk on the board...
Yes I think all the negative/trolls is what’s puts me off posting on these boards plus I’m a novice so I’ve been building up the courage.
I actually really enjoy reading the chat boards, I’ve picked up many tips on how to research and where to research and from what I see the majority of people are nice and happy to share information for fellow investors.
I bought in on this stock before the name change and I topped up again today. I hope everyone that’s invested makes a nice return that’s what we are all here trying to do.
This is an explanation given by 'hopingforbags' on BOIL. He has a lot more there too, but here is his explanation. I have heard similar before but as usual DYOR.
The market do not list red/blue or buy/sell only trades
All 3rd party sites that feed on that information artificially add just like this London South East
they all do if from a BEST GUESS algorithm based on what IT thinks is the current mid price
Its pretty dim on a normal day but poor old Algo gets very confused on any busy share as it's
ideal world would just be one buy price and one sell price
The market does not comply to that wish, in most cases fairly safe to say if trade at or near
the full ask it was a buy and likewise at or near bid a sell
However when busy and the MM's are competing for business to fill client orders the lines
become blurred and the more varying prices available across the spread the more poor old
dimbo algo gets wrong
I have many times over the years both sold at near ask and bought at near bid and anything
around the invisible cut off line MID it thinks is in play are all very much a 50/50 guess
its as basic as ya get anything above what it thinks mid buy below sell and anything exactly
on mid or confused prices moved on it will choke and call UNKNOWN that popular button
we all use everyday
No matter when the trade was placed today yesterday 3 days ago (have seen them) or is a
completed in the evening after close (the big boys work 06:30-20:30) it applies the same
what it sees as now mid and prices to ALL
The stock exchanges of the world have all been offered the simple modern day tech fix's
to add real buy/sell data at source , they declined choosing TRADITION over tech lol
Hello Rach, a warm welcome. Watch out for rampers, derampers, trolls and anyone who genuinely enthusiastically says an sp is going to the moon, as usually it isnt. The main thing above all else is do your own research (DYOR). Some people are really nice and helpful, some are not. Never buy more than you can afford to lose. Be cautious. You will need to study the area you intend to invest in. Have fun. DYOR
