Quady, I'm not a climate denier as it is obvious the climate exists and changes. We therefore need to continue to have an inquiring mind and investigate it as the Science is never settled, especially when we know so little about it.
After 50 years study, it has recently been discovered that Jupiter's atmosphere is heated by the Sun's violent electromagnetic storms being funnelled towards Jupiter's magnetic poles. What if the same thing happened to the Earth? Unfortunately, at the moment, there is little interest as it is contrary to the CO2 crowd, which is a shame. It just isn't Science as we used to know it, and the extra heat could be added to the climate computer models.
The IPCC reports are fairly sound but their Executive Reports are something else. The IPCC is the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, so it's driven by governments, not Science. Again, if the Legacy Media quoted reports, not the executive reports, the public would be better informed.
I, and Dr John Constable, want the government to avoid spending a lot of money, especially when we are in so much debt, and ending up worse off and disrupting industry unexpectedly, like the fertilizer factory closures causing food shortages.
I'm signing off on this subject, for a while at least, but wanted to present the other side of the discussion. The Daily Telegraph's Andrew Evans-Pritchard, up to recently a very keen NET Zero supporter, has seen that there are many unanswered questions and, like building a mine, need to be answered before any construction starts:
https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2021/09/19/aep-finally-wakes-up-to-the-green-nightmare
As he says, "It’s terribly depressing."
Quads,
You certainly had a good hearty breakfast this morning, I think you had all the nutter ranges covered lol
Atb
Oreinspiring you are one of the climate deniers.
The BBC does not set the agenda, they are reporting on the Science. I am the first to admit they don't always report it factually, not because of any agenda, but because this stuff is difficult and you need to understand the collection of the data. how it's formatted and how the modelling is done.
There are many collection points.
It's not about basic Chemistry and Physics, if you think that you cannot possibly understand how urgent this is.
You are a joke if you think the IPCC is politically driven, have you any idea how the IPCC reports and updates are compiled.
Of course you haven't.
I wonder how many other boxes you tick.
Climate denier.
Vaccine denier.
Who shot JFK.
China is responsible for all bad things if you cannot blame Russia.
Covid was genetically engineered by the Chinese.
Aliens walk amongst us.
I could go on. But if anyone answers any of the above in the positive, you are a nutter, if you answer more than one, then please get help.
If you answer all of them then your name is BBG.
seanhunter - thank you for your last post, especially paragraph 2. With the BBC's aggressive stance that it is an Emergency, and the schools pushing the narrative, rather than teaching basic Physics and Chemistry, it is looking like it is a case of, 'You can't tell the people, you have to show them'.
In the video, Dr John Constable does say that we need a credible plan, that may work, not one that certainly won't work. At least I have sufficient wealth, I think, to minimise the probable disruptions ahead. It's always the poor that suffer most.
If anyone dares to venture onto conservativehomecom and sees the posts under any article promoting NET Zero, usually by a government backbencher wishing to be noticed and having not a clue about the Science, Engineering or Economic demands required, you will see posts from those who have had a solid career in such Technologies: and they aren't very supportive! :). There's usually one or two every week, and the posters have very varied backgrounds.
Fortunately, in mining, there are professional bodies of long standing, so reports are credible, yet too many Climate Change reports are just politics, with the IPCC Executive Reports being a 'good' example, and the Legacy Media just exacerbate the misinformation.
We have food disruption because two fertilizer factories have shut down due to fuel costs, including green taxes, so the CO2 they produce as a byproduct and is used in food processing is not available. A complete surprise to me, but then, with the government we have, it shouldn't be.
Very good DBW but inaccurate in many ways.
Yes those things are important, but I will list the big CO2 emitters .
Gas heating I feel this is going to be the toughest to tackle
Fertilizers , this is difficult as going organic really lowers yield, look what's happening in Sri Lanka up to 40% lest food yeild.
Cars the world will go electric
Aircraft we will change to hydrogen.
believe it or not electricity production worldwide is the biggest CO2 provider as the element of fossil fuels is still huge, but this is the easiest thing to Attack.
Sean , never quite sure what your motives are , but you may enjoy this all the same

OreInspiring, before Grandmother Quady comes shuffling out to call us all climate change deniers, I have to put on record that I can see that it undeniably real. And it seems to be speeding up.
It is the West's self-flagellating response to it while the rest of the globe goes full steam ahead, laughing at us, that i have an issue with.
A similar issue - plastic in the oceans. Who can argue the sheer horror of that?
But then we take our zero-tolerance of all of this (as exemplified by a constantly hysterical Quady) and apply it to the local activists in Ecuador who are horrified by Solgolds mining plans for their local environment.
We were all outraged on here when they tried to slow us down via the courts, remember?
Remember Quady?
Like Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" it's always funny to realise eventually that - to someone - you are the bad guy.
Oreinspiring you don't understand what you are reading. it doesn't matter about the cycle this is talking about the man made element. If you can't understand that you can't understand anything.
We are not coming out of the little ice age for the last 150 years, stop reading rubbish.
We are in the Pleistocene period and we are getting Glacial and interglacial periods within that.
I am an Astronomer and understand the various cycles of the Sun, so don't even start on that.
Because the cycles of the Sun and Ice ages are taken into account, we are talking about the man made element.
I know it's not simple, but please don't paste rubbish on this forum, listen to the Scientists and those that interpret the data.
"A new State of the Climate report confirmed that 2019 was among the three warmest years in records dating to the mid-1800s ..."
Well, it would be, as we have been coming out of the Little Ice Age for the last 150 years. This followed the Medieval Warm Period, something that Michael Mann managed to obliterate in his Hockey Stick graph (as it was warmer than today). This graph is based on dendrochronology, something that tells you more about rainfall than temperature. The BBC, against their charter, only present one side of the discussion, and the Legacy Media just follow, so you need to delve into the academic papers that provide a more balanced view.
The important point is that no matter WHY temperatures have slightly risen, the current response of NET Zero is bound to fail.
The UK does not have an overall plan, so it hasn't been reviewed by anyone with the responsibility of ensuring it works. For example, the windmill constructors will make wonderful windmills to generate electricity, but who has the responsibility of ensuring continuity of supply when the wind stops, so the food in our freezers remains frozen?
Britain 'let go' its gas reserve facilities (as gas, Methane, has Carbon which burns to Carbon Dioxide) a few years ago, but Britain has recently had light winds, so there is a shortfall of 'Windmill Electricity', and Russia has only been delivering the gas that has been contracted, so gas prices have soared in Europe! Britain has been stopped from exploiting its own Coal, frackable gas, and North Sea Oil, and developing new nuclear reactors and has been destroying its existing coal-fired power stations! As it takes about the same length of time to build a power station as a Copper mine, we and Europe have a problem, and Putin is sitting pretty! The problem is that professional Engineers have been excluded from the whole process. The cost to Britain of NET Zero is estimated to be over £3 Trillion, and will result in a lower standard of living.
Even though this video is over an hour in length, it is the best I have seen to explain the problem.

I'm actually starting to think Quady that when they circumcised you they threw away the wrong bit.
"Well done seanhunter that is the most stupid post ever."
Coming from you Quady, that is the greatest compliment.
For the uninformed on climate change, this is a start .
It puts it in simple terms and you can look up references and get the detailed data.
https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/reporting-state-climate-2019#:~:text=A%20new%20State%20of%20the%20Climate%20report%20confirmed,the%20start%20of%20the%2020th%20century%20through%202019.
Well done seanhunter that is the most stupid post ever.
You talk about climate change, but you have not mentioned man made climate change which is what the scientists are measuring. So you don't even know what man made climate change is.
I doubt you have even looked at the NOAA datasets, but even if you did, I would bet you couldn't understand them.
On China, I can see the world saying to them, cut your emissions or pay for your carbon emissions.
China needs the money. It requires trade. But also China knows that the world is in danger.
Grow up and read up on the subject, and become better informed, you really are clueless.
"The test for homo sapiens is global warming."
The planet has been warming all through the holocene period, and homo sapiens have thrived.
Let's swap the global warming label for climate change, which is making itself pretty evident now. Humans will always adapt and survive. The real "test" is for the West. Do we tax ourselves, limit ourselves, restrict ourselves, chain ourselves, berate ourselves, flagellate ourselves and tear ourselves apart over climate change while China builds hundreds and hundreds of new coal power stations and India begins a century of pollution on an enormous scale, both without a hint of remorse? Nothing is going to stop China and India from emitting unprecedented levels of CO2 in the next few decades. And little Greta has nothing - absolutely nothing - to say about that. In the West it's a middle class activism of choice. Look at those white posh loons currently blocking the M25. The whole subject has been polarised - between the massive polluters of China and India, just out of the starting blocks, and the trendy climate change crowd in the West. the test has already been failed. In an age of Zoom and online conferences, you will note that it's the environmentalists and climate change activists who simple MUST fly to Glasgow for COP26. No restrictions of travelling for them. i daresay Glasgow airport will never have seen so many private jets.
It's a worthy cause, but it's long since been ruined by these people already. Climate change is no longer a problem, it is an industry, a career path, a moral high horse. a social justice platform - these people don't care, they just want to be seen to care.
So whatever is going to happen, will happen. Mother Earth will respond in due course and give us the kicking we deserve. But as China burns more and more and more coal, forgive me if i don't give a tinkers cuss what a little Swedish girl says about how I live my life.
Hi cadell I see that you’re coming up to 10 years of posting and that you are 90.
My sincerest regards to you ! :)
Agreed cadell, if people read the science instead of the conspiracy theories, we would be working together globally to solve climate change. people are now talking about a 4 degree rise in global warming as survivable .
What they don't tell you is the climate will change and fresh water and food will be a fraction of what it is today.
Zoros, I am ninety and look at the world from the wrong end of a telescope. I understand your views on the frivolities of society, media, gender, hypocrisy and so on, but one must ignore such froth. The test for homo sapiens is global warming. I live in France and watch the current increase in road traffic here, read of air travel picking up, and gawp at floating hotels and know that things are getting worse, not better. Sorry to be a profit of doom but the facts are there. The rest of man's follies do not matter.
