Generally I am happy with how things have progressed to date... Although as I said the other day, I think between now and mid-October, they need to try to get some good news out (albeit over time, not every single day) to try to get the SP heading up. And I think if this is going to get sold, NM would do well to get it sold sooner rather than later if he wants a strong price for it, rather than shoot for production, fail and get caught between a rock and a hard place in 2 years time if market conditions have deteriorated. Ideally I would love this to go to production and be worth ££ a share, but it seems a herculean task for Solg and the risk of failure could undo all of the potential that could be achieved if Solg was bought out a decent price (by which I mean decent for an explorer sitting on a Tier 1 asset with 3 or 4 potentially similar assets, which majors want - not the same thing as a fully functional miner).
My main gripe is probably the last placing a few months ago. I just think 21.5p seems too low and it hammered the SP down and took a good couple of months to work off with people selling for a quick return every time it got up a bit. What do you guys think? Did the 21.5p placing knock the wind out of the sales just as it was up into the mid to high 20s and could have pushed on? Or was the SP already hissing air and trending down anyway?
Z I think you will find that the Toyota Camry is one of the best selling cars ever you sanctimonious t..t crawl back under your rock the stench is awful. I personally will be the judge of who the better ceo is and I think it is a no contest based on what NM has achieved to date
Lots of frustration seeping through to the surface today, peeps I know some on here don't like comparing Solg with GGP but in this instance (market movement) there are several comparisons: Both are sitting on a Tier 1. Both will get massive output on production. Both are carrying out extracurricular activities (drilling and surveys). Both have money in the bank. Both have majors onboard in some shape or form. But @ GGP the SP is electric and on a daily basis almost. Why is that? News releases are +ve and frequent, Company media same. Webinars are enthusiastic and effervescent. The forum is full of very high quality research inputs and comments and more often than not very very busy with friendly posters. GH is charismatic. At solg it's the opposite - news releases are few and far between. Company media output is either drab or infrequent. Webinars are rinse and repeats of the previous ones. NM is dull and dreary. The solg forum is dominated by a hardcore of those who talk b - o - ll -ox (newtoit), same old one liners (cookiecrew), insults (novicehunter and brokenrecord) and last but not least the pullitzer prize winner for war and peace replies (Quady). If I came back to this forum 6 months from now - suddenly......nothing will have changed (including the SP)! The difference between the two companies is down to the drivers of both companies...GH and NM. There is fire in the belly of GH, there is porridge in NM's! The MM's are bored with this stock because FA happens out there in the real world of Solg. Elodie joined to enhance "corporate communication skills".....so where is it? If solg was a car, it would be a Toyota Camry An old one at that.
And perleeeeeze please, Quady don't respond. I hate napping mid day. XX
In fact, whether or not there has been manipulation for the last few weeks, ever since that extraordinary hiatus yesterday, the market has seemed altogether more 'normal'...a reasonably narrow market Quote and steady two way business being done, without the previous pattern of being jacked up at the start of the day, wound down and often an UT at the top end after hours...
And we haven't seen those 50k repeats and even larger trades that previously characterised this.
Finally, I'm encouraged that, despite the 4% fall in gold in the last 3 trading days and the 2% fall in copper today, the SOLG SP has held up well...including a tidy increase today...
I guess I should reply to various posters who have posed some thoughts/questions. Addicknt, yes 50p would give me an acceptable return over two years for a risky stock like exploring in Ecuador. £1 would be an exceptional return. Quady, I really dont know what NM wants, but whatever it is I dont think he is doing a very good job of it! Unfortunately one of the CEOs job is to promote the company and the sp. He is dreadful at that, Should let JW do all the presentations. He is so much more charismatic. Whatever NM does want he will find it a lot easier if the sp was 50p now rather than half that. For that he is responsible. Novice, I wont sell now cos on a r/r basis this is good value and I think I will make money. That applies to everything I own, or I wouldnt own it. I dont know anything about the companies you mention and I am not going to find out but thanks for the ideas. If by Xmas we havent had a bid or some other price changing event then I would doubt we are going to get one any time soon, so on a r/r basis, there probably wont be much reward. You are entitled to your view about my portfolio but I do wonder what that view is based upon. Miagi, yes obviously GGP skews the results a lot. But I also have a lot of silver and gold and the miners of the same and no broad equity exposure. Other contributors have been DSV, GDXJ, SSLN, Merian G&S, SVE and ELY. Their performance has given me the return I mentioned, not GGP which I hadnt factored in. SOLG is the only 'mining' stock that I own that hasnt followed PMs. Not sure any of this helps the discussion, but it might provide some clarity or explain the frustration. And just to re-iterate, my preference is to sell Cascabel/ENSA and go exploring which is the company's strength, core competence etc. If that was the case I would be a happy s/holder and I think the sp would be 60-80p, before any distribution.
