Copper, despite not wanting it, I too think a jv is looking likely. My hope is that anyone interested will ask themselves the question, why do they need us? I hope they conclude they don't and therefore make a decent offer to buy us out completely.
Hi addicknt, the SR is looking into a "reduced sized" block cave initially....to reduce capex. Then ramping up to a larger scale block cave. All options are on the table.
Our J/V partner will have a large said in things too!
Q, that's an interesting point as it implies he's confident we'll have done something to address the funding issue and, as BBG says, that all permits will be in place.
It was also interesting that production won't start until 2029 and we are looking at a block cave. Any talk of a quicker route to cash flow was dismissed.
And bless the lord i sayeth unto you, Sean.
What's come over you??
Quades, genuine question for you:
How does solg go mining within the next 5 months with only 200 staff and approx $2.9Bn short of the money needed to proceed?
Z
A decision to mine, that always galvanises prospective purchasers into action.
That makes about 625 job losses from the peak. Economic sense for us, but no laughing matter for the individuals and their families involved, struggling to put food on the table in a desperately poor country.
We are thus reminded here today to pay heartfelt respects to our honoured unemployed. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, these job losses takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new mining world; a world that our beloved comrades gave their jobs to protect and nourish. They did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we should not debate their profound wisdom with these proceedings.
Now, for us, it's second star to the right - and straight on till morning.
... and you would only start construction on the proviso you have the enviro/water permits...
The important thing from yesterday is construction will start this year, beginning of next year.
That's the big story we are all waiting for.
Given we've been granted the other two licences, and provided we meet the requirements, you'd assume we'd also get the water and environmental licences almost as a formality. The same applies to the revised IPA.
It may not be correct but the Reuters article will help the sp.
The news this week sufficiently good that I bought back in with reasonable hopes of a bid this year.
Lol …… maybe that’s today’s news
Yep same…. I’m sure it would have been mentioned
Has it? I thought SC said work is ongoing.
“The agreement with SolGold will "position Ecuador as an important producer and copper exporter," said Minister Fernando Santos, noting that the project has been awarded all necessary environmental and water permits”

Anyway a fantastic day here 0.06p up mustn't grumble
Bingo!
Hi addicknt it was 275.
Ftjny, Q thought it was 245. We'll get there eventually! In any event, as you say, it's a very large reduction.
Add - I thought he said there were 245 employees globally of which only 5 are based outside Ecuador. Either way it’s a huge saving on the previous 700+ workforce!
Good evening Talatum.
I think if he wanted to remain ambiguous about wherever BHP and NCM had entered the data room he could have phrased it differently.
He didn't.
Change for me and more than you'll ever see In your life.
Shame
