1982 thanks
Nearly 2m at 15p ….. bit better but a long way to go
The uncrossing trade is about to completely trounce the volume for the entire day!
Why is there suddenly a flurry of posters expecting news? And why without any news will this jump 20%?
I think the previous company secretary was the general counsel, unless we hear otherwise I assume he's still employed by Solg as GC... so not sure if this will save costs. To your point add, I wouldn't have thought the GC of a small company would be that busy on other matters that he couldn't manage the co-sec role as well.
Regarding which out of UK or Aus offices would get the chop, it just feels to me like London is the one they are closing. They've lost or got rid of Fawzi, Ingo and anyone else who worked there. Half of the board including Mather and the chairman are in Aus. It was a stipulation of the takeover agreement that one of CGP's two directors be resident in Australia. They are appointing Australian corporate service providers.
As ever with Solg, the route to monetization remains as clear as mud...
I’m also surprised we needed one…. Well it seems we how have 2…
Only recently recovered above its 200 day average but turning down fast again. Weaker dollar would be good for both stocks in general and commodities. An uptick in metal prices certainly wouldn't do us any harm
I'm quite surprised we even need a separate company secretary. In a small company like ours the role is usually fulfilled by the CFO.
On another note. Not directly associated to solg, but showing how precarious investments in volatile environments are.
FMG have in the last month or two started production at their new mine in Gabon.
Forged a solid relationship with the president Ali bongo. ( I've not made it up its his name).
1 week after he wins the election, everything is rosey.
Then yesterday military deposes him, and takes over the country.
Seems to be a bit of a domino effect in Africa at the moment.
I wouldn't like to guess how many billions are tied up in Gabon for fmg. Fortunately the divi was announced before the military coup.
Maybe food for thought for those on here who post essays, on what they think, and their hunches and theories, like I said 4 months ago, when ridiculed, stormy waters lay ahead. As in all exploration companies.
Rcg. Interesting post.
Reading into it, it could bring to the fore one or two interesting scenarios.
Might be a precursor to the much anticipated (although all guesses on my part) spin off of the exploration folio/ business?? They might feel it better to leave ENSA on LSE and move spin off to ASX or dual list. Remember, in last few presentations, the Aussie assets (gathering dust) were included which might suggest some that are involved in SOLG (no guesses there) want to progress them in some form.
No point reading too much into it, as think the next update will reveal all. IMHO... the exploration folio has some cash commitments coming up and if they don't pay up then they lose them eg relinquish them. You don't want cause cash issues for the mother ship (ENSA) so any capital raises for exploration folio may well be better off done via newco.
Just a hunch... but when this all gets sorted, I think one Mather's caveat's to signing it off will be that he gets some of the exploration folio ... whether that's free or via greater stake in the newco ... who knows but these boys don't like letting anything go especially Mather. Mather wants to carry on doing exploration... that's clear... so perhaps a deal is done where he heads up the newco exploration business and ENSA gets sold or jv'd and Mather agrees with lower price but gets lions share of newco exploration etc etc. I don't think the CGP guys are too bothered about exploration (or the dilution to fund it) but sure they will keep a toe in there a bit like they did with CGP stake in SOLG. Lets see what they deliver... but they have to please Mather and his buddies or else it won't fly imho.
Good find, it could be of interest. If they were to shut down satellites in different time zones as they indicated, it would make sense to get rid of Australia given it's the furthest time from Canada and South America where most of the team are operating.
Taking on hired consultants to do this role is positive in my eyes, makes it look like it won't be permanent.
According to Companies House filings, Ryan Wilson resigned as company secretary on 10 August. On the same date, James Christopher Doyle and Steven Douglas Wood were appointed as company secretaries. Both seem to be employees of an Australian corporate advisory firm: https://www.grangeconsulting.com.au/team/
Steven Wood, B.Com, CA
Steven joined Grange in 2011, where he specialises in corporate advisory, company secretarial and financial management services. Steven is a Chartered Accountant, and since joining Grange he has been involved in various private and seed capital raisings as well as successful ASX listings, whilst also providing company secretarial and financial management services to both ASX and unlisted public and private companies. Prior to joining Grange, Steven started his career in the Perth office of Pitcher Partners where he spent several years in their corporate re-structuring division. Steven is currently Company Secretary for a number of ASX listed entities.
James Doyle, B.Com, GDippAppFin
James joined Grange in 2022 and is an experienced corporate advisory and governance professional specialising in the provision of company secretary and corporate advisory services to companies across a range of sectors including resources, industrials and information technology. James has extensive experience advising on ASX Listings as well as secondary and seed capital raisings for public and private companies. James currently acts as Company Secretary for a number of ASX listed entities.
Does this mean anything? On the one hand I'd guess no, they are just outsourcing some administrative functions in Australia and shutting down the London office, as per their stated aim to reduce the number of jurisdictions they operate in. Although if they are just outsourcing admin, why not outsource the co-sec function to a UK based service provider, given the primary listing is on LSE?
On the other hand, if you want to make wilder speculations, could they be planning to arrange listing on the ASX, or otherwise raise capital in Australia? Would they transfer the primary listing to ASX, and would London be maintained? Who knows with Solg...
"More electric vehicles are being made my manufacturers than drivers want, one of Britain's biggest car dealerships has said.
Vertu Motors, which trades under brands including Bristol Street Motor Company, said supply of new and used electric models is outstripping demand, forcing manufacturers to slash prices in an effort to shift stock"
Pretty sure a wise old owl on here said a month or so back that the saturation point had been reached. Those who want to signal their virtue have all got these wretched things as tax write downs via their businesses.
Perhaps they're finally starting to get it? We don't want them. We don't want clean energy either, we want cheap! Old Sadiq Khan is about to get his poll tax moment with that daft Ulez
Of summer, then the spivs will be back at their desks looking for bargains. Expect this to rise back to 17ish next week then let the news flow commence
In fairness some of my best mucks are poms.
unlike on here they enjoy a bit of banter and also unlike on here.
have found out false pomposity and indignation just dont cut it.
im not to sure how some on here would fare to be honest. probably drinking in the corner grumbling
about it being to hot. and adikt would probably have a wooly hat on, to keep those worms out of his head.
last day of winter here 27 degrees, wall to wall sunshine. it may explain why we dont get hysterical over things. like some
to bloody hot
Qualibashi. have you noticed. ive got 5 likes today.
wahoo, wahoo.
im wondering was one of them secretly you.
Cheers NAL. I know how fondly POMs are regarded in Aus:)
Go easy Sean, on 28/08 Rairaimed on Advfn posted:
"All preparing their accounts; rumours there is a deal."
Clearly, NAL is not the only source of the deal rumour.
I think we can all keep our fingers crossed and hope that something happens before the AGM.
Just for clarity. im simply saying there is lots of talk ref solg deal.
for the addicts and copper pots of this world studying my every post, I wouldn't want anyone to buy shares on the back of a rumour. Im just saying there's rumours and there's rumours. I think this rumour has legs. but its a rumour non the less.
so adikt/ copper pot, when you inevitably reply to my post, please reply on what's been said, not what you want the gang to think I said.
Not Sean, sorry mate, I meant that for eloro
"why would i spend the last 6 months ****ging of solg management and the clowns on here, to suddenly leap up and tell the world of a strong rumour ive heard, that if true could be good news."
Why indeed? It's why your posts caught my eye - it does seem odd that you would stick your neck out and stake all your credibility on this one unless there was a tiny chance that you are right.
I sincerely hope you are.
Sean its not to bad where I live. the only danger is getting stuck with a whinging pom.
fortunately their all on this board. some I dont come across them very often.
Not wanting to sound pedantic Sean, but can you send a link how Scotland is sustaining the world present day,
unless your like most on here, your yearning for yester year.
sean, no game. why would i spend the last 6 months ****ging of solg management and the clowns on here, to suddenly leap up and tell the world of a strong rumour ive heard, that if true could be good news.
even the clowns on here would have a job to contour up something out of it. and that's takes some believing
It's as deep as yours needalife. We are a hardy working folk, tough as old boots, the sweat of our brows and our backbreaking labour has sustained this world since the middle ages... and we stick together.
And it's worth mentioning that any "strong rumour" now being talked about on Twitter is only people referring back to YOU here on this BB, so you have essentially started the rumour yourself and now it's circling back to you.
I'm as hungry for good news as anyone and I hope against hope that you are right - but whatever your game is be careful.
Of course you did shipwright, of course you did
