I totally agree this green idea is total fantasy as without exception all these so called green technologies rely on oil to either manufacture or make them work . as with the electric cars all it does is produce the pollution elsewhere in the manufacturing & disposal . threes nothing green about it.
As an engineer with knowledge of how these things work and all the mechanical moving parts involved. I would oft for a gas boiler every time has anyone considered the racket that will be generated when you get whole streets of these dam things rattling away the fan noise alone will be horrendous.
Tesla, I'm talking about scale, not what is currently a minority activity. I know you're very keen on your EV, but I could point you in the direction of very many who are not. But that's not the point. This country will not be prepared for 2030, or get anywhere near it and it's time our leaders re-thought the daft and arbitrary date. By the way, they will change their minds on this, but they'll prevaricate for as long as possible, causing havoc in the motor industry in the meantime.
The heat pump thing is interesting. I live in a listed, part early 17th century house and I couldn't have a heat pump even if I wanted one. In fact, listing restrictions mean I can't even fit proper insulation. And then there's the issue of the millions of people who live in flats...
Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of doing stuff to reduce the cost of living, but what concerns me is the cost and practicality of getting to that point and at the moment we are not even remotely near being capable of delivering, and such is my disdain for our politicians, we won't be in my lifetime.
China consumes 55% of the world's copper
"China consumes more than half of the world's refined copper, and demand usually peaks during the September-October autumn months as the property and manufacturing sectors ramp up."
"While futures prices in London and Shanghai have fallen to multi-week lows, some investors have been building long positions, based on LME data, in anticipation that prices will turn higher in coming months because China's inventories are so low, and on hopes the Chinese government will roll out more aggressive economic stimulus measures.
The total net long position in LME copper rose to 9,488 contracts on Aug. 11, the highest since Feb. 10, data provided in the Commitments of Traders Report showed."

But electrification is viable, and is happening daily.
It’s nonsense that heat pumps don’t work, prices are dropping and usage is increasing.
I keep on hearing how if you don’t have a new build property then heat pumps don’t work. Our house is almost 100 years old and we had no problem even when it was -10c this winter.
Our electric bill was 25% of our estimated gas usage.
I haven’t even factored in EV usage.
There is a lot of scaremongering in the media about heat pumps, no doubt from engineers who want to service antiquated gas boilers or can’t be bothered to re-train.
Q, in part, that was my argument. If the price makes it unviable to produce batteries, for example, no one will make them and net zero will remain a pipe dream.
Adikt, I 100% agree with your post.
The net zero dream is on a par with some of the fantasy on here.
The only issue, if it is an issue with your post is, it asks more questions than gives answers.
Why has nobody come in for solg, because I firmly believe we've been up for sale for a good couple of years.
Whilst you quite clearly have an honest opinion as to something going on in the background regards a sale.
I think your correct, something is going on.
But I believe it's all hands to the pumps to find a way to make it economical to extract it.
Hopefully a more feasible way will be found.
Maybe they could employ fort, redknight or quady.
It's also possible a jv is actually on the table. But nm won't sign it because he's canny enough to know the pitfalls
They appear to have the answers the world's experts are searching for.
Lol so you expect BHP to yield 5% when you can stick your cash in NS&I and get 6.2% and zero risk, well you can’t because you’re broke from all your gambling.
Morning Quady… I agree… that’s a very well made point.. demand will be there to a point, but it slides away at higher prices…
Good morning addicknt.
To me the copper price makes sense.
People always concentrate on the supply side of the argument and forget the demand.
Demand isn't about what is required, it's about what is required and affordable.
So as the copper price rises, the demand falls on the affordability test.
This is why the likes of colonelDrake and Redknight predicted gold at 5,000-10,000 dollars an ounce, I knew they were talking rubbish.
Sure the world is going to require copper on a massive scale.
But if the price rises part of the demand cycle diminishes and we become self regulating on the price.
We will see higher copper price's but not as high as some on here believe.
Crying off to admin eh Kalneedabari?
If you can’t take the heat, get out of your 1 room bed sit.
Rk. I don't know where you've been lately.
I expect you've been having a crash course in utter rubbish.
It was obviously a successful course, your posts today show you learnt a lot, and prove the point.
Fort. Have they not tried the little niggle aproach several times already.
12 majors sniffing round, several confidentiality agreements signed, several majors accessed the data room.
How many niggles do you think are required.
And its possible your correct, we do have a massive discovery.
But is it not also correct we are again trying to find a more economical wey to extract our massive find..
I note once more the amount of I think, I believe, I'm guessing, my theory that litter your posts.
I also note once more, bugger all facts or evidence.
But by the look of the recommends your post has,
The gullibles are impressed
RK, the copper situation is baffling.
There's literally no one who is saying anything other than a chronic copper shortage is on the way - and not in the distant future, but in a few years time. And yet there appears to be virtually no urgency whatsoever in terms of the behaviour of governments or the major mining companies. It's as if they think the issue will somehow resolve itself by some sort of magic.
If governments really are committed to the concept of net zero (a total nonsense in my view) then they are actually going to have to do something about the supply of the essential ingredients of its delivery. But they aren't, and when the sh*t hits the air conditioning in a few years time, the politicians of the day will spend their time in a state of wild panic whilst simultaneously blaming everyone except themselves.
This isn't some sort of fanciful dream, it's going to happen, and how will the price of those commodities react? Well, you don't have to be a learned economist or central banker to know the answer.
Until the question of supply is answered, net zero is a complete fantasy.
Redknight, the only person who has established a correlation between the PoG and SOLG is you. No one else thinks that idea to be remotely plausible.
Sean. It does appear I've joined the fantasist list.
To be honest tho, I'm still not convinced it's a dreampt up copperpot story. Their is still a lot of rumbling here.
Just wish I'd never mentioned it. A lesson learnt
Oh and CAML 10.73%...
And I think there are a couple of extraneous factors...
Copper and especially gold stocks are badly beaten down...and we have previously established that there is a correlation between the Gold price and SOLG SP...
And...London as a market is going down the tubes...you can buy RIO on a historic yield of 10.56 and BHP 9.97%...
Doesn't that suggest that the sector itself is undervalued by at least 50%...?
If its not economical to mine Alpala then its certainly not economical to mine Oyu Tolguei...or the ocean beds...or the surface of the moon...
Needalife I assume that strong rumour we spoke about has fizzled out? I can't find any new leads in it.
No delirium pads,
bbg clearly delusional. his ridiculous posts are on this board for all to see.
the likes of you and your late night drink induced posts, do nothing but show how
you gullibles are ruining this board,
not infesters, but the likes of you and your complete idiocy in believing and supporting the clowns
Another late night drinking pads.
do you still have Mathers picture hanging on your bedroom wall.
gullibles fantasising to impress fantasising gullibles
I wish I could share your optimism, more like the share price bouncing around the low to mid teens until the inevitable cash call/fund raise with Scott popping up on the odd webinar to tell everyone the world needs copper....
Is it just me, or have others noted that the likes of copperpot, shippy, aquinaga, quady, bbg, dinnermoney
And one or two others feel the need to tell the world about the green filter dots appearing on their screen. By coincidence these dots only appear every time they are shown to be strangers to truth and reality
Yet when the gullibles jump to their defence, and they assume their fantasy has been believed, by some miracle, the filter doesn't work and they start responding.
