Crikey I was working in ashby de La zouche during the beast from the east. It was relentless. That was 2018. Sure nothing like the 60s but we know that there have been six major ice ages during the earths existence and that we are in one now that started 34 million years ago. We are interglacial so ice will be subsiding and temperatures rising
In our last interglacial period sea levels were 7m higher and temperatures were 5C warmer.
So when we start with cr.ap like “it’s the hottest day on record” we need to ask, since when?
1984, I refer you back to my 22.25 post, which obviously crossed.
Yep, my own personal experience. It used to snow heavy here in Brum. It hasn't done for a long time.
Probably that forty years you speak of.
Does that chime with global warming figures? I honestly don't know.
Good evening Quady!
What I don’t understand is how the 97% of C02 that isn’t man made which is currently under 400ppm has no effect on climate when our 3%
Supposedly does
I further don’t understand that when CO2 was over 2000ppm Over a million years ago when man was not even here yet alone burning fossil fuels, that we were in a glacial time!!
How can it be that 3% of 400ppm
Means global boiling when 0% of 2000ppm means glacial climate?!
It’s almost like it….doesn’t add up
Anon, what have you seen and where? And have you seen it with your own eyes not the BBCs?
I’ve seen literally no change whatsoever in my lifetime and I’m now entering me later forties
This is why Slug is the most unintelligent poster on here.
He doesn't even understand that climate change hasn't got anything to do with what the weather like at certain times.
He doesn't even understand that the man made element is what is being measured and he doesn't understand why.
He also doesn't understand that depending on the mix of gases at certain layers in the atmosphere determines how long the CO2 remains there.
He doesn't understand the 300-1000 year atrophy rate.
He is meant to have a degree in mathematics.
I wonder how many Weetabix packet tops that cost him.
Nope. I'm not seeing your point.
I saw 76. I also saw 2ft of snow in Brum around 73 and big falls in 79 and 83, with a roasting hot summer then too. The year I was born (62-63), was the worst winter since just after the war. An eighth of an inch scares people now and shuts roads down, which makes us older people just laugh.
I'm convinced we've seen far too rapid a change and it's got nothing to do with what I see on the telly, but all to do with my personal experience.
“I’ve witnessed the weather changing and in my opinion it’s far too rapid to be natural”
Sorry but not, you’ve been indoctrinated by 24/7 doom news
76 saw a 13 week drought and burning temps. In the 60s we saw 2 feet of snow. But back then you’d get a news report a day, today you’re constantly connected 24/7 to propaganda. You just don’t relate it!
I remember visiting a market town in Cumbria where a lovely hotel called the trout was wiped out by flooding. The old guy behind the bar told me
This is nothing compared to the sixties, the two metre mark on the town clock is where flooding reached that year.
We are simply in an age of mass information and misinformation. Stupid people are easily swayed
1984, you really ought to know better.
It's about trends and not what happens at a particular time.
You know the one that makes me laugh the most?
"How can it be global warming when it's the coldest it's been for years?" I remember it most during the "Beast from the east".
Ignorance in the extreme, imo.
As for the numbers, it’s about $1200 an ounce to pull the gold out. The vast swathes of copper will pay for that
So 9.6m Oz at $2k is $19bn of gold
If we’re targeting 20% of that call it $4bn.
So a quid a share brings a profit, plus all the sl.ag plus the other 80% of the asset to attack at Leisure when prices make it economical
Whoever gets assurances from government will pay up to a quid a share for this
Not often we had a November with so much snow and what happened to the 46 years between the summers of 76 and 22?
This summer was cold, wet and miserable yet nobody will apply the “cooling alarmingly” in the same way they accept the “global boiling” remit because it’s not peddled by the bbc
Weather has always been weather, what has changed is global connectivity and ease of reach of propaganda. It’s simple to terrify gullible people with words.
Look how many morons who fell for covid being a death threat who now don’t wear masks or even queue for their boosters!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Copper sales will pay for the gold. Look at the significant royalty deals. They are gold shops not copper traders :)
Ah, well that's an interesting point. I very much doubt it will affect me much, given that I'm hoping my 320D beemer is going to see me out. (as an aside, there was a report that quoted a 5 series of the same vintage and engine as emitting no CO2 and extremely small amounts of particulates). All I know is I look at the exhaust and it's as clean as the day I bought it. Not bad for an 8 yo motor, so who's fooling who?
So with my neutral, not giving a toss either way, head on, I think green is here to stay. I've witnessed the weather change and my opinion says it's far too rapid to be natural. And even if I'm wrong in thinking that, I don't believe it's fair that we gamble with my grandkid's or even great grandkid's (which aren't far away for me) wellbeing.
I've no interest in preaching though. People generally won't realise until the likes of the Maldives are underwater.
It'll come when it comes.
So yep, this is a copper play predominantly, in my book. Not that I'm too bothered. I won't be buying the company :-)
Richer, yes we fell for the ESG/DEI rubbish that was the globalists wet dream. Tell them what to do and skint them doing it so we have total control.
I don’t think it’s going to work though, I’m delighted at how many people are waking up and smelling the totalitarian coffee.
Things are dire now but financing costs will crash faster than they went up, the automotive industry has made its best and needs copper and the struggle to find a way off the dollar can only be solved by gold
If we can survive dilution (or avoid deliberate dilution) then this will be bought out and bought our big.
I personally believe that suitors are waiting for all the licences and laws are all penned by the new incumbent, we have been informed of good things but they need to be passed and put into law, then investments will flow into Ecuador, until then, we sit and wait again
We need clarity to go forward and so do the big boys, look forward to real news hopefully in the AGM, this mine will be built, just when is the question
ATB
1984 I tend to agree with you about what proven assets this company has, their asset value, and at what stage their market value will be maximised.
Too much bias given to the copper reserves here (albeit stellar) and insufficient given to the gold and silver? The silver reserves seem to be often forgotten.
Of these 3 precious metals, copper may not be the one to deliver most profit in the shorter term?
It largely depends on how far duped you are that we are greenifying. Copper has an obvious role to play there but there are a number of reasons it’s not plain sailing.
Firstly, the world is waking up and kicking back against the BS.
Secondly there are other conductors that can be used for mass infrastructure
Thirdly copper is very widely recycled so that’s the cheapest possible supply.
When cascabel was first discovered it was banded as a gold play. It will come full circle in my view. The nutty green rubbish will definitely fall away
Tbh, I don't crunch the numbers like some.
But my understanding is this is primarily a copper play, with a large amount of gold bolted on. Another big attraction is also the silver and Moly etc, which makes this such a diverse resource. It was a big reason why I was so confident it would sell quickly.
I struggle to see that there's only one suitor. If there's one that can make it work, there will be others, imo.
I just don't think there is one at this particular time.
Then again, I agree with Fort. How can the board possibly go into an AGM with nothing to offer? If they do, that's when we will really see the SP on it's knees. I dread to think where the bottom might be in that scenario. No hint of a bid with a raise in the offing? That's a scary thought.
*bid

Apologies, still adjusting to the moronic iPhone auto incorrect algorithms. Only recently switched to posting from a mobile
Stocking fillers going for 8p. Even Santa can’t believe it!
Agree it could just not be reported closed and it’s not big enough to alone cause this drop
Why no bud yet? It’s either the there’s only one suitor and they might as well strangle us, or more likely that whilst the asset is enormous it’s a huge up front cost in a very dangerous jurisdiction.
Maybe the new PFS seeks to mitigate that but so one will surely risk the locals given the metals on offer
I know everyone sees this as a copper play, but I don’t. I’m convinced net zero will be kicked into the long grass because it simply can’t add up. This will be a gold play with copper contributing to the costs
A lot of western fiat is now confetti and calls for a return to gold standard are mounting. Even crypto needs gold backing to be remotely credible
I don't know why I said the shorter. I meant Berry.
But it looks like the last movement of XIB was almost a year ago, when the SP was around 18p.
I'll be amazed if they haven't closed that, but just not reported it. Nobody saw 8p remotely coming, did they?
"Agree regarding lack of news and marketing but it has to be deliberate. What are the chances of getting so many useless incompetent CEOs in a row?"
That's the worrying part for me. My concern is there is quite simply nothing to report, because there is no prospective bidder. You can have all the brilliant CEOs you like, but if you can't convince anyone to bid for what you're selling, when they've had plenty of time to look into the data room.... well.
And as for talk of a PFS3, it's pretty obvious to me that as of now, nobody can make a bid because the numbers don't work.
It's easy for us holders to say this is a bargain, but if it was, at least one bid would have come in.
Yes we can talk about strategy and all that tosh, but if someone wanted it, they would have bid by now, I'm convinced of it.
And it's why I don't see a bid incoming for ages. Not until we see an astronomical Cu price by today's standards.
I honestly hope I'm totally wrong, as I now have a substantive holding here, by my levels anyway.
1984 Investor, I guess you can put nothing past the logical reason for this short on our share! Funny old world this is! maxit might very well be planning to do exceptionally well here! We WILL be sold!
Anon yes I do. I see things on L2 but I also see some hard facts
The short isn’t closed. Had you opened one where they did for that amount, how much exactly would you want before you thought that’s the bottom?
Agree regarding lack of news and marketing but it has to be deliberate. What are the chances of getting so many useless incompetent CEOs in a row?
It suits Maxit to screw those last shares as cheap as possible. A deal has probably been done with the eventual owner to share them out
My only (slight) consolation at this continued diving of the share price, is that I always suspected that such a thing would happen ahead of a bid. These things do happen and then a big rerate takes place upon the initial bid and subsequent bids. Cold comfort though - and that’s even if a bid really is coming??
As has so often been the case, things are as clear as the thickest of mud for SolGold shareholders and uncertainty rules ok. Shouldn’t be like this !
1984, so you think this is being manipulatede too?
I don't believe that for one minute.
A shorter selling a bundle, chronic lack of interest, hence miniscule volume, no news, while the company bleeds cash with an obvious raise coming, plus not the slightest hint of a sale = falling SP.
It's as simple as that for me.
Maybe the current board should have done more to encourage people to buy then?!
If they’re voted out it won’t drop, it’ll rise because the game will be up for Maxit. They won’t be getting the issue at 8p they want
