"Solg has Gold, and Gold is suppose to rise to new highs, this just seems a correction after big rise"
KRSS Solgs gold is so far underground, and so physically and financially far away from ever being dug out at this moment that it might as well be on the Moon.
Gold is a safe haven only in "normal" bad times. When things are "really" bad it becomes just another metal. You can't eat it and you can't wipe your backside with it. That's why people on transport trains gave away gold rings in return for a loaf of bread or a sip of water.
Bitcoin is collapsing for the much the same reason.
At the moment, cash is king. You'll know when things are really bad - that's when your cash is no good.
Personally I don't believe this virus is that dangerous at all (to me anyway). But the self-inflicted damage to the world economy - almost done like a religious act to appease the gods, a great self flagellation with the emphasis on making everyone's life as miserable as possible without actually stopping the virus - is very real, and we are using a global sledgehammer to crack a small nut.
It reminds me of the 1665 plague - in order to look like they were doing something radical and effective, the authorities ordered the immediate killing of all the cats and dogs. You know. the cats and dogs that might have caught the rats that carried the infected fleas.
This is our killing of the cats and dogs - a wholesale destruction of the economy, an economy we really need in order to fight and survive this.
It's hysteria. Every time the Government announces a stricter, harsher edict - usually targetting the elderly - the crowd bays from the sidelines, like fanatics at a book burning.
Meanwhile over in Japan, they still think they will be inflicting the borefest that is the Olympics on us.
The whole planet has become a madhouse. God only knows when the real fever - this obsession with economic self destruction - will break and we start to see sense and rebuild.
gold has been hammered of late. Down from near 1700oz to 1450oz earlier today.
Probably hedge funds over weight and need to reduce to cover other bets. You'll often see the market sell into highs regardless of defensive qualities as that's where they can offset against loss making bets. At the end of the day, they are like all of us out there. They have to balance the books or they go bust. When Gold begins to rise again, then could be a hedge against further equity falls. VIX is the one to watch out for at moment.
Solg has Gold, and Gold is suppose to rise to new highs, this just seems a correction after big rise
"Been jobbing for the past 4 months and got 1.5 mil at 12.8p average"
As the millennials like to say: THIS. DID. NOT. HAPPEN. LOL
They do but this wasn't to do with that as we had an UT at 13p and then trade s at 12-13p.
LSE had the figures screwed earlier........ not unusual!
seems strange we opened 20% up, a leak maybe?
As Jerry said NM wont be able to buy if he is aware of significant news pending that would affect SP
I am expecting some news any minute...........that NM has just awarded himself some more options.
If he was a true leader he would be buying shares at this level, but he probably cant because he knows that he knows so much that hasnt been divulged to the market that he would be running the company from Belmarsh.
Its not how it should be.
Was very strange, only just logged on but we are still on the blue leaders board for miners...
Quality again?
the MRE3 has been sent off to be independently verified, then SOLG will release it when they get it, he said within 4 weeks.
It seems most other companies are releasing news so don't see why we wouldn't either, apart form the fact we haven't been doing so any how for many months.
Its certainly not true that all the majors wont be in a position to cherry which resources they want to buy, as they plan decades ahead and not months.
What better time to make a cheap offer that seems decent to many, with our SP down here.
Get out while you can.
would love to know who recommended that irksome post by bm312uk!
I think he dropped the 11p target to 8p so probably focusing on that target now
Another market bounce today. Seems like the best way to help the investment bankers get their cash balances back up to level is to create multiple trading opportunities for them. The DOW's like a 10% daily move AIM stock at the moment. Won't stop until it finds a botom and it won't find a bottom until the awful headlines stop. Give it another month and will be getting there on the markets at least.
Fed cuts interest rates, eventually it going to boost the Gold price. Currencies can come under pressure
Mather has a nest egg of over $7.5 million awaiting since 2018 ($3million per year) which is to be used in his salary package to buy SOLG shares. When this extra $3m was voted on the shares where in 30-40pence range but no shares have been purchased. Last 15 months of practically no announcements has seen share value plummeted to current levels and he is now in a position to buy 70million from this increased salary package alone. Watch this space because he will continue to plunder SOLG for all he can!
I had noticed that the poster who annoyed everyone on here for months - banging on about "a completely random prediction of 11p soon" - had gone silent.
I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that said poster (who shall remain nameless here) - perhaps had the decency to realise that their "wild guess" (and obvious wind up) had only come true because of a virus that has / could kill millions.
i was prepared to congratulate said individual for finding a spine and not gloating (as this virus made his 11p prediction come true through no skill on his part).
But.............. looks like they were banned a month back (at least).
so - imagine (and enjoy) the agony of that wee bam sitting in his mum's 3rd bedroom - wishing he could still post to
tell us "he was right all along"
Karma
The only fund I've kept, Investec Global Gold, is down 16% today alone and 34% in the last couple of weeks.
This is absolutely insane.
There is no safe haven in this market .
My shares PF is a third down and I wish I'd set stop losses, but heyho, I'm going to ride it out and am looking to pick bargains and add to existing holdings.
Shell at 1044 today, for instance, as a starting point.
Mind you, I can see that continuing to plummet.
Hence, given that Covid has barely started here or in the US, does anyone want to bet against the SOLG 6p I predicted the other day?
We could be in for an absolute steal here.
Being cynical it all looks to me like the big boys who thought Brexit would crash the market didn’t happen so this seems a bit convenient.
* the GGP CEO bought the shares in GGP not SOLG to clarify
As I'm pretty sure will have already been posted today, the Greatland Gold (GGP) CEO has bought circa £55,000 shares today.
Same market sector as SOLG.
I am invested in GGP for the record.
Mr N Mather please do the same this week !
Columbo,
As you're no longer interested in SOLG, your words, are you using this as a social thing for you now?, or you will you be continuing daily with your SOLG has no hope posts as well. ?
Or do we wait until there are other whole nations of people you'd like to label?
if you will be going to the pub at the weekend and maybe macdonalds or kfc afterwards.

"The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But our own behaviours and “fight for yourself above all else” attitude could prove disastrous."
I’m a doctor and an Infectious Diseases Specialist. I’ve been at this for more than 20 years seeing sick patients on a daily basis. I have worked in inner city hospitals and in the poorest slums of Africa. HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis,TB, SARS, Measles, Shingles, Whooping cough, Diphtheria…there is little I haven’t been exposed to in my profession. And with notable exception of SARS, very little has left me feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed or downright scared.
I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19.
What I am scared about is the loss of reason and wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a spellbinding spiral of panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they ” probably don’t have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know…” and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess.
I am scared that travel restrictions will become so far reaching that weddings will be canceled, graduations missed and family reunions will not materialize. And well, even that big party called the Olympic Games…that could be kiboshed too. Can you even imagine?
I’m scared those same epidemic fears will limit trade, harm partnerships in multiple sectors, business and otherwise and ultimately culminate in a global recession.
But mostly, I’m scared about what message we are telling our kids when faced with a threat. Instead of reason, rationality, open-mindedness and altruism, we are telling them to panic, be fearful, suspicious, reactionary and self-interested.
Covid-19 is nowhere near over. It will be coming to a city, a hospital, a friend, even a family member near you at some point. Expect it. Stop waiting to be surprised further. The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But our own behaviors and “fight for yourself above all else” attitude could prove disastrous.
I implore you all. Temper fear with reason, panic with patience and uncertainty with education. We have an opportunity to learn a great deal about health hygiene and limiting the spread of innumerable transmissible diseases in our society. L
