I agree about the charts. If only it was that easy to make money! A lot of traders follow religiously though. This one would be in a falling trend of course. Don’t try and find the bottom la la la
Investing much better
How does one really put a value to the share price here even knowing a lot of the valuations of all the assets I’ve read on the board the last few weeks? It feels very undervalued but that’s clearly not the while story. It’s the best way of unlocking that value and cost etc. I’m in as of last week anyway....
earthling welcome back, i think you took time out from posting these last couple of months for family reasons if i recall correctly ?
As Rich points out you don’t need to defend yourself to those who are not convinced
Yes a little knowledge could be dangerous, I include myself in that with regard to charts
BNC certainly seems to be up there with regard to credibility
However, I’ve lost count of the number of Chartists on these BBs who have been so adamant and so wrong at the same time in their analysis based on their charts.
Mate I’ve never bought any shares based on chart info and haven’t done too badly here.
Many of us have been here a long time and all views are allowed, including ones views on charts.
That isn’t meant to sound anything other than a fact.
As I said it’s not for everyone
I’d just like to see one day someone say we are heading for x SP within x time scale and be on the money.
Hi BNc many of us know the value of charts and you don't need to waste your time defending them to the disbelievers - which is their choice and imo their loss.
You also have no need to defend your charting record here mate, which is always appreciated by me and many others I'm sure :)
I personally always use charts to buy and sell nowadays and while only a tool in an investors' armoury, I for one wouldn't dare be without it.
But it's a complex art/science to learn and a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I'd urge folk to either leave well alone and follow those who've studied charting and are trusted, or take the time to educate themselves.
so if charts are no use whatsoever and certainly not here allegedly why were the following calls made by yours truly
May 2013 - buying here at 1.5p v all time low of 1p for potential upside..........
Sep 2013 price was 13p - maybe worth taking some profits here..........
Dec 2015 price was 1p - maybe another buying opportunity here at 1p [earthling maintained he bought there I recall - correct me if Im wrong earthling]
Feb 2017 price 45p - maybe worth banking some profits here..........we've returned well over 4000% since 1p lows
EWT analysis showed we'd just about completed a v strong 5 wave move to the upside and prices should pullback.
Also advised that prices for a 2nd wave retracement could be deep typically 61.8% of the rise [could also go lower]
We retraced to the 61.8 almost (18p v 20p) rallied then went down to 78.6 @ 11p
1) Fundamentals (which includes news flow)
2) Technicals (which includes trendlines and volume)
You haven’t put sentiment in there though?
Sentiment very important.
I think that’s pretty much on the money IMO
Influences roughly in this order:
Chart technicals (MACD, RSI etc)
Don't try to pick the top or bottom, just make money
sh*t happens (unknown unknowns)
Just say the magic work and the bad spirits go away
DB, if it's no use here, why are you blessing us with your time?
TA is useful for trading bands (resistance support etc) on shares with no news due/arrived.
TA is really only useful in my exp when trading FTSE100 companies, maybe 250, and I'm looking to, say SB Barc from 114-118.
It's not useful on shares like this imo.
Confirmational bias, when a lot of "professionals" look at a chart the inbuilt bias is already there, they then add to the bias by buying or selling, which in turn then increases the bias. The whole fraudulent position is only broken when news arrives that undermines the whole basis pf the bias. Look back at some pf the biggest losets and weeks earlier the charts were extolling their virtues. Charts will only
1. Confirm the growth of a sound company
2. Confirm the demise of a failing compan
3. Can NEVER predict a change in fundamentals and or sentimemt.
Its a bit like Economists they can all explain why thigs happened after the event their poqers of prediction are exactly 50% correct 50% wrong, and even when they are wrong they can explain why their methodology was right but things conspired to undermine the predictions.
Why is it that no one van tell you where the market is going, v shaped recovery, tick, sqare root, and theres the small matter of inflation, hyper inflation, deflation, it seems the only thing economist can agree on is interest rates are staying low, so expect mortgage rayes of 8% by this time next year. As you can guess its still raining in St Davids I would hate to have to do this for a living
Seems to work out pretty well though lol
This activity has successfully been financed by international investors to guarantee its performance, thus ratifying confidence in the Company and in Ecuador.
Main highlights are the regulatory approvals received for exploratory drilling in the Porvenir, La Hueca and Blanca projects (located in the Zamora Chinchipe and Carchi provinces), as well as the resumption of field activities in priority regional projects, including Río Amarillo, Chical, Cisne-Loja, Sharug and Timbara (located in the provinces of Imbabura, Bolívar, Loja, Azuay and Zamora Chinchipe).

SOLGOLD: reinforces its safety and health protocols for a safe reactivation
SolGold, who directs the Cascabel project in Imbabura, in addition to 13 other projects that are under initial exploration around the country, has assumed the stage of productive distancing with responsibility and commitment to promote the development of Ecuador. The Company implemented a biosecurity plan, which allows it to carry out its tasks with greater prevention to reduce the risk of possible transmission and contagion of the coronavirus.
The implementation of the plan is mandatory for collaborators, contractors, suppliers and other publics with whom the company maintains relationships in its facilities and / or operations. The same, comprehensively addresses (prior entry and during the workday) the application of biosafety protocols. Among the established provisions are:
Before entering the field

? 48 hours before admission, collect more information related to the employee's environment so as to rule out any possible contagion.
? Comply with 7 days of preventive isolation in homes and then take a COVID-19 Diagnostic Test (PCR).

? Prioritize the execution of video conferences or virtual meetings, avoiding physical conglomeration.
The Company adopted various sanitary disinfection standards and safe work practices on all its work fronts. Maintaining social distancing, the mandatory use of a mask and regular hand cleaning are, in addition, the three measures that personnel must comply with at all times.
Updating of activities in regional projects
Considering the company's own provisions on Health and Safety, in addition to implementing the guidelines of the national government, authorities and local COEs; SolGold has reinstated exploration activities at some of its regional projects since late June. (1 of 2)
Yes you have - swizzler’s ludicrous 16p prediction...
Any convincing evidence on here with regard to predicting where the SP will go in any given time frame.
I’ve seen plenty of charts during or after a trend in a direction.
I’m sure the guys into charts will disagree and I’m sure some of them know what they are doing.
It’s one of those where by if someone swears by them then that is their experience.
Let’s have a challenge to Chartists.
Predict the price here within say a week or a month etc, let’s see if anyones charts can do this?
Got nothing against them and still appreciate people spending their time and sharing their knowledge. I also wish I was convinced or had the time to learn more about charting.
I genuinely just have not seen evidence of them predicting a SP within a specific time frame.
sorry for that clumsy post off of fone earlier - below is my more coherent repost to swazy when he first came out wiith his wrong h&s patterns........

RE: A snapshot of Sol G explained with TA29 Jun 2020 18:54
Done a little TA myself for a little while.
If I may I think the H&S you've shown is a little out of kilter.
If I may explain why.
1) a H&S pattern typically depicts the end of a trend whether that be an uptrend - with the traditional low left high head & low right + kneck line - or an inverse H&S at the end of a downtrend (hi left/s, lower head hi right/s)
- if anything in terms of end trends I'd suggest its more likely that we're possibly ending the prior downtrend so therefore should possibly be looking for an Inverted H&S and not the standard you've shown
2) Guidelines regarding H&S patterns is you look for a level of symmetry in the pattern [not perfectly as they never are but the left & right shoulders should be of similar height / length shape - what you've shown I don't believe shows well any symmetry at all because of the spike on the left that you seem to be ignoring a little.......
3) Finally, where is the kneck line for your H&S matey?
here's an example of the inverse h&s however the neck line (yellow) does not work due to the angle of trajectory as it's too steep.
try to be nice!
and here was also the second post to him showing folks the proper views of h&s patterns [which btw are one of THE most unreliable patterns!]

RE: Politeness & manners cost nothing folks29 Jun 2020 20:09
Bit of reading for those interested in H&S Patterns.........
that is also ill informed nonsense.....if hedge funds banks and the trading community use them religiously then its hardly nonsense is it.however, folks that are incompetent using them make themselves look like fools.......
a companies share price printed daily and even hourly shows whether or not it is appreciating or in decline - this is only seen on a price chart. yes fundies are key to determining the health of a co - but ignore a companies price chart at your peril - there is often more truth in a co's chart than all the hyperbole associated!!!
You mention a super trend moving over 30p
Do the indicators give an idea of where the price may go or is it somewhere around the 30p mark?
Not trying to put you on the spot just trying to get an idea where others maybe trading/selling etc etc
Anyone can read anything into a chart, Id sooner follow Mystic Meg or the Euro Squid. Make your mind up on findamentals and current data, every top performing share will have marvellous charts until something happens which the charts couldnt predict. There is no such thing as the future until it happens, everything about Solg depends upon the status quo on financial markets, oops the charts didnt predict corvid 19 and they will not predict the next financial crisis. For what its worth, gold and commodities like copper will maintain an approximate ratio to gdp, with all thw magic money tree shenanigins going on, Fiat currencies inflated by 21Trillion dolars will inflate gold et al. Gold miners whose profits are leveraged by gold price will rise disproportionally, the end. Im sure theres a chart that will show this scenario playing out, just as you will find otherwise. Sorry about any errors but typed on mobile with fat fingers and weather breaking in St Davids so going out havnt got time to proof
"That's the most obvious statement I have ever heard Quady. Surprised you said that. Next support at 17.5 - 17.80. Hold on tight!"
Enough said ssmith_trader.
Morning ToS1963 you make a fair point but BHP or other major shareholders are going to have to accept that they can't buy SOLG on the cheap. When they cast their eyes over the asset value here and the fact that the copper reserves alone will service their company for many decades then I'm sure they'll smell the coffee :D
