smickster, a 3 bagger from here would not to some seem like something to be fearful of. But agreed, should this go for 60p levels than it would be a crying shame for long term holders. There a last throw of the dice going on with exploration so if we hit the 6's and deliver top results then perhaps that will make you less fearful and you never know might even bring CGP on board. They have up until the 14th Oct to decide and at present have no real interest in any other SOLG blocks apart from those held under ENSA and their 7%+ stake in SOLG equity.
It's all about a bid war in October onwards and pre that... pfs and exploration results. Busy 85 days isn't it!
Hi FTJNY! No, I have no money in Cornerstone and I do have money in here, even though I don't rate management, or think their current advertised mine development strategy is even feasible. (It may be a bluff, as Colonel Drake argues, in which case, fair enough). I expect this company to be taken over within months, for at least 40p per share (hopefully more), and (IMO) 23p to 40p+ is an excellent return for a few months of my money. I've just been busy with other stocks - not least SNG. It does occur to me that Cornerstone might be a far better investment than many on here are thinking, but it is a higher risk play than Solgold, and I like to sleep at night.
I think Barrick will be topping any offer made by anyone else. They are just waiting for the finale and that's BHP's biggest worry. As for CGP, you really need to understand their position to see why they are so fearful of this going to BFS. If it goes that far, they are toast.
Tbtt cgp don't necessarily have a weak hand just maybe not as strong as they think. After all bhp could not of made any sort of commitment as this would be against the standstill agreement and essentially what's stopping Nick making suggestions that he and bhp and a few insti could block it with the help of citi?
TigerByTheTail - It’s strange that you haven’t posted on the Solg board since almost a week ago when Quady observed in his post on 16th July that “Anyone reading your posts, would think your investment was in CGP, not Solgold, and that's why your annoyed.” And given the tone of your post today which is pro Cornerstone and anti the current BOD I think Quady had called it right!
I get 7,840. It’s essentially modelling that the average copper Price over the next 55 years from 2025 will be 20% higher than today. Quite realistic given the shortages about to come in the next 2-3 years.
I'm not sure why people regard Cornerstone's position as so very weak here. It's Nick Mathers who has the gun at this head. Presumably, he will be made "an offer he can't refuse" by BHP (either alone or in a JV with Newcrest) in mid-October, and if he does refuse it, he and the current board will be fired two weeks later, and the offer will be accepted by the new board. If BHP, Newcrest, Cornerstone and some of the institutional shareholders have indeed formed an alliance, then the likelihood is that such a "sack the board" motion will pass, given usual rates of absenteeism amongst PIs. That's just basic maths.
This might sound stupid to the educated, but need to ask, people are using copper prices in pounds the weight, to convert that to a ton, is it converted into the long ton or short ton ? as Solgold refer to copper prices per ton, as it makes calculations different by 10%, what does the mining world use ?
Ton, unit of weight in the avoirdupois system equal to 2,000 pounds (907.18 kg) in the United States (the short ton) and 2,240 pounds (1,016.05 kg) in Britain (the long ton)
I would have thought if the Franco Nevada deal was so bad, then you have to stop it, before it is signed, if Franco Nevada haven't completed a site visit, and there is no other feasible option other than a site visit how much time before the deal is signed, 4 weeks tops ?
if the point was true then they would need EGM before then to kick out the current board, sounds like horse ****e to me
CGP just want this to hit the finale so they can get their pay day. Irwin and co are desperate to get out and if you ask me, even if NM had made a terrific offer for CGP they would have rejected it. All they want is for October to be the grand finale. And if Shareholders want the grande finale.... then they just have to vote for SOLG board to be replaced.
If no offers are tabled in October, then I imagine that the vote on the SOLG board will be put back a month and so on. CGP are just trying to bring this to an end and the only way they can try and do this is through getting a confidence vote (lack of) through. That's all the power they have. And even then, it's unlikely to succeed unless of course the offer tabled (if there is one) is above 70p levels and then they might succeed.
I'm surprised the share price isn't 24p+ on this news as it's clear as clear can be that the lead up to October is now going to be a major event and it's down to NM to defend through exploration results and a nice PFS.
Good afternoon Barry, I suspect we may at some point get a RNS with a reply. But not sure what he's replying too. They want to call the EGM after the 27th. Colonel has already covered that. They are putting forward 5 new board members, but they still don't know who they are. ( maybe no one wants the job ). Part of the reason for removing the board is the Franco Nevada deal is bad value for shareholders. ( that took me a long time to type, as I was laughing so much ). I don't even think it will happen, but hey ho lets see what develops.
