Driftking.
I also have a holding of HFEL.
I think HFEL is over distributing.
The yield is now twice that of SOI and AAIF. After the financial crisis HFEL and SOI had the same yield.
This thread is about SOI.
Personally I am happy with the management and performance of the fund.
It looks like the dividend will soon be covered by earnings.
I will be adding more on weakness.
hi Runner, I remember from the site a year of two ago. Did you buy here? I bought some here, ALAI, and this year bought HFEL. I believe it isn't as volatile as other funds is no one has been told of this. Plus is its listed in JER, so no stamp duty!!
I can see SOI tickling 220p in the next week or so. Flight of capital to SE Asia??

Still a staple for any sensible diversified portfolio. Top class.
Good to see people topping up after the 10% decline, its been a good place to be for the last 2/3 years. Not sure it will get back to £2 very quickly, but still worth being in.
I am still in here too, it has performed well over the time I have held it. I have no plans on selling. GLA
Still loving it here. Along with CTY this has to be a "must have" in any sensible portfolio. Chilling and raking it in.. JP
Another big top up here for me today. This one will provide steady capital growth and income IMO, as it has done for me the last few years.
3 month share chart shows very bullish here. It keeps going up, basically! JP
Well about 8 months since the last post so I'm just saying "hello". Still here and waiting for 200p (beer to celebrate) and enjoying the nice divi. Cheers. JP

I think you are being proven right. Also glad to hold for the long term. Although the price is basically flat over the last 6 weeks, relatively this is losing ground. Cheers, and GL. PS Divi's OK though.
I did go for the Open Offer and asked for additional shares beyond the allocated, which were accepted. Glad to hold for the long term but believe this may dip slightly over the next year as stronger results come from the west and people move money back to markets they understand and can see / interact with. GL
Looking good here for capital growth 2nd half 2013 and into 2014 IMO, and 3.5%+ divi. Can't complain. Keeping on topping up regularly, not trying to time the dips, I'm an amateur and the pros get it wrong all the time :-) JP
Fagen39, what did you decide to do with the offer? I got mine. JP
Hi, I "cost average" into SOI monthly and have been doing so for the last 8 months, for your info. I'm pleased with the performance and the yield and have no intention of selling out for a many years yet. My last buy will be August then this will be about 5% of my portfolio which is a level I'm very comfortable with. Share offer - IMHO you have it right. The maths will differ slightly, but I would agree with you it's a "no brainer" and personally I have instructed the company that holds my shares in trust to accept the offer. I am bullish on this stock short in the long term, but it may get volatile so best not to follow it too closely, for your heart and sanity! Good luck. JP
Any views on the additional shares offer? I am relatively new to shares (since 2009) and am not sure how to evaluate the new opportunity. My original shares are +55% with dividend returns built in if that helps. At £1 a share it seems line a no brainer but I assume there will be some dilution of the existing share value and future dividends? Currently issued 190m £2.07 New shares 100m £1.00 New Value 290m £1.50 with a %divi as per now. So potential upsides would be >£1.50 new share price, greater spread for any fixed admin costs or annual charges. I would be interested to hear anybody elses views.
My wife bought these as a hedge against the £ falling, by the look of things today this was a wise move. The dividend has its attractions too! Guess the rest of the holders don't want to encourage competition!
This share has performed really well. No people chat on here but I would like to know if any others plan to keep the share long term or sell out at a certain point? The dividend could be quite healthy if it continues at c.2/2.5% of the live share price.
