As I remember it, the previous hapless webcast was not arranged by the company itself. Also the two distinguished professors were not at all attuned to its basic requirements. Professor Wilkinson was too cool and understated. At first I thought he might have been in an exotic location, like Hawaii, until I realised that the background was a diagram of an exotic complex molecule. The other professor, who directed the P2 home trial, came over as somewhat dour and gloomy. Even Richard Marsden’s with his trademark precision in his dialogue did not manage to lift the mood.
This time around will (hopefully) be a very different scenario. Meanwhile, Synairgen have recruited Brooke Clarke. Going by her CV, she is more than capable of ensuring that future webcasts and other presentations will be a major improvement on that unfortunate event on April 30.
I also hope that some of the interesting and plausible theories offered here today about the possible nature of the presentation have some truth attached to them.
Ref. thoughts around the high-profile hirings of late and how the near 'future' will play out (JV/BO/To, etc) ... I would think that RM et al will be 'playing a blinder' in terms of keeping all options open. What better way to play for gold, than to set up your own impressive top table to send a message to big Pharmas that we are ready & willing to captain and crew the SNG ship. It will be strategy (with knobs on) right now so it may be that cards remain even closer to chests, and thus leaving us to pontificate. So be it .... seen enough of RM to be sure of a good outcome, but don't doubt the pressure he & BoD will be under right now.
I think she is London based considering her previous post was a London HQ.
Fruit, yours is not as potentially exciting as Joey's suggestion, but does also have merit. Doesn't the new Comms Director reside in USA?
My thoughts on why the webcast - they may have to synch people in from different locations (rather exciting if that's the case), it allows them to show off of new processes and product (maybe we will spot *Beaker in the background holding a test tube of SNG001 potion in front of a warehouse rammed full of millions of batches, lol), also allows introduction of new team members etc.
*For those not old enough, Beaker was the hapless monosyllabic science geek muppet in The Muppet Show...
Good point Joey
But that alone is sending a strong positive message!
Could be the SNG team are in the USA to discuss Activ-2. 1pm is equivalent 8am US time.
Would be a nice surprise if SNG broadcast from the USA :)
TLWilliams - It's not an AIM requirement and seems a bit OTT for a company the size of SNG, the aim listed company I work for circa 500-600mil mcap sticks out an interim report 7am via RNS each year standard procedure.
It may just be that SNG have been advised to change the way they operate but deviation to a 1pm webcast for analysts has peeked my attention.
Ghia,
I hope that your theory is correct. However, the Q&A session at an interim stage of the fiscal year has been a standard procedure for my other invested companies. This is followed by a later RNS with a list of all the questions and answers dealt with in the session.
As stated earlier, I await in anticipation as to how this session will unfold.
Regards and good wishes.
unless material news release before it happening, not expecting anything from a webcast / Q&A session affecting current SP just letting off some pressure, companies doing it lately very often
I am very much hoping it is good news, too but THAT last session still casts a shadow so it could also be that RM wants to avoid such a fiasco again by hiring comms people and tackling head on any potential negative news.
Either way, RM will have learnt from that last session and will be able to milk the most positive news coverage possible.
Thank you for your usual well-informed and thoughtful comments Doc.
I agree with your point about recognition for the achievement probably being the most important consideration for the staff, who have been working on the product’s development and testing for going on two decades.
There are so many options that the company could pursue if, as I now believe to be the case, the outcomes of the clinical trials are successful. I await the preliminary results with bated breath. The company may well have more to add at that time.
Regards and good wishes.
Borsaci06 - The point is why have a q&a about 6monthly results they’ve never done it before so why do it now. Either they’ve been asked to do it by large investors or they have something they want to say.
Nothing stopping them putting an RNS out on the morning of the webcast or during the webcast.
Thanks gunto2020.
I believe you are right. When I tried LinkedIn earlier, I was able to access the names and profiles of three of the major personnel. For some reason it was only job titles that were given for other employees , everything else including their names were inaccessible. I will follow your advice, and will start some “Apple device play” on the site if the information remains hidden. I will have a definitive list soon.
Regards and thanks for your quick response.
Regulatory News Service (RNS) is the official chanel of communication
what news they can reveal with a webcast / Q&A session but not via RNS
TLWilliams - i don't believe there is a list but all of the people have been located via LinkedIn.
When I go to LinkedIn, I see 56 entries for people who either currently work at Synairgen, have previously been at Synairgen or have included something to do with Synairgen on their profile.
Go to the search bar at the top. Type in Synairgen and filter for 'people'. All the new faces appear.
It's curious never before have SNG put an RNS out indicating that Pre-Liminary results are due on x date. Also never before have SNG gone to teh lengths of having a webcast Q&A for Pre-Lim resutls.
Why woudl they go to all teh boeh rof a webcast Q&A if they have nothing to say? Food for thougt.
Either they think there is significant interest from analysts for them to warrant a Q&A or they have something to say and want a platform to say it.
Wouldn't rule out a further RNS soon.
gunto2020.
Is there an online list of the major Synairgen personnel that you mentioned earlier? I would be grateful if you could post the link if it does exist?
I have searched for one and the closest I have come is the LinkedIn site, which is not helpful, as I am only able to access the names of three people on their list.
I have all this information separately, and will produce my own list of one does not exist out there.
Regards and good wishes.
Peelweight - The Q&A will be live exactly how it was for the AGM.
Fruitsnveg,
I concur that Synairgen have steadily hired a formidable team of experts during the course of the year. At first, I thought that the company was ripe for a buyout and that they were preparing for that. Since then, my opinion has changed and I now think that they may view a JV as the optimal route to market. Personnel wise, the company is well prepared, and there is no reason to doubt the company’s viability from other considerations. I look forward to the forthcoming review, which should tell us more.
Regards and good wishes.
Thanks Matterhorn, though would have loved to hear the Q and A live
Absolutely Fruitnveg they are engaged in an incredible scam or they are sensibly gearing up towards ‘imminent’ lift off.
To do good business in America adding quality home grown talent is definitely the way to go and thankfully atm the Special Relationship seems a lot healthier which also bodes well.
Can't disagree with that Fruits.
I suspect the balance of power in interviews for such experienced people is with the employee, if they don't like what they hear they wouldn't sign.
Money alone I don't suspect would get this calibre through the door and little Synairgen will hardly be paying top dollar - on this will the top earners be declared next week, or just the board ?
Gunto2020, I didn't realise there had been other key hires - many thanks for posting that.
This hiring spree looks promising.
Fruits
I concur.
