That was the point I was making "a reduced capability of antagonising the host cell interferon response.” fits in with the clinical picture ie mild disease
The other paper suggests and elevate capability of suppression of IFN induction would predict omicron would cause more severe disease which it does not .Something lost in the translation I think ,not peer reviewed yet. Anyway thanks for acknowledgement All the best for 7am
For someone more knowledgeable than me, but do we know how much a nebuliser costs? It would be nice to know what this all costs, including the drug. We have a rough idea what SNG might sell it on for.
ThinShins
I've been reading that pre-print.
Although the researchers emphasise omicron resilience to IFN -alpha .Also the in vitro results do not fit with the clinical picture that basically omicron is a far less severe disease compared with Delta ?

Thanks for your post .Please ignore my previous post ,it must be updated with respect to the findings new VOC : (
We know Omicron is less antagonistic to interferon beta during infection , so poses less of a challenge to our treatment
Thanks Matml74, interesting stuff and thanks for your insight. Did you get a chance to look at the recent pre-print titled "Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 exhibits an increased resilience to the antiviral type I interferon response"
"Abstract: The new variant of concern (VOC) of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), Omicron (B.1.1.529), is genetically very different from other VOCs. We compared Omicron with the preceding VOC Delta (B.1.617.2) and the wildtype strain (B.1) with respect to their interactions with the antiviral type I interferon (IFN-alpha/beta) response in infected cells. Our data indicate that Omicron has gained an elevated capability to suppress IFN induction upon infection and to better withstand the antiviral state imposed by exogenously added IFN-alpha."

Thinshins, SNG001 is an immunomodulator. It does not act directly but against the virus likes MAB’s or the pills. The documents I have read by the fda have only requested in vitro work for those drugs that act directly against the virus. The genomic changes between this variant and the previous ones are very small, although they have big effects on effectiveness of vaccines and drugs that target specific parts of the virus. SNG001 will be unaffected by these changes due to its mode of action.
However I expect SNG will do the in vitro work as they will leave no stone unturned. Data is king as RM would say.
ND71, regulatory bodies will most likely request or require IV results for Omicron for EUA as it is currently the dominant strain in circulation and we most likely did not recruit any omicron into SPRINTER. The FDA are willing to spend big bucks on any treatment shown to be efficacious for hospitalised patients, so it is in their interest to receive IV results showing that the drug will work against Omicron. Take a look at what has happened and is happening to the mAbs which were in use in the US after Omicron landed.
The patient doesages were completed before Omicron ever rose its head.
redundant.
but...50 mutations....
its not the same virus. is it?
Ndn.... RM said they would test against variants if governments asked them to. But I think they know, as you suggest, it is indeed redundant.
xviolet - if it fails Omicron IV then it won’t matter that it works on anything else. The whole story for SNG has been that it is variant agnostic. To fail Omicron would throw this theory out of the window and would be very bad for the SP.
Thanks Doc. However they could get great results for Delta (and positive EUA-friendly Sprinter) and fail to touch Omicron. That make might it difficult to estimate the sp.
RNS will fall at 7.09 like it has before a few times, this week I hope
I think there is a cream for that Doc, but I’m not sure
Blockbuster....
Agreed...I posted yesterday that if we have successful P3 the RNS will
be a Blockbuter....RM and the team will have waited and hoped for
this for many years..They will want fireworks...We know they have the Bubbly......!!
It will be designed to make headlines.....!!
MM's will struggle to put a price on SNG by 8.00am....Can you imagine
what this board will be like 7.00 - 8.00am on postive P3 RNS......LOL!!!
They must have the Delta and Omicron IV results available by now.
Also, the brand new website has it plastered all over it that it is variant agnostic. They’ll be some egg on faces if they then announce days later that it’s failed the latest IV tests.
I’m sure it will be announced alongside ‘the’ RNS.
Maximising the big bang impact. One RNS
Hopefully in the same RNS we are waiting for.
So we should get those results soon. Then.
Thank you.
A few days, I believe.
Press release Dec 8th...
"Synairgen is investigating the in vitro activity of SNG001 against the Delta and Omicron variants of SARS-CoV-2 and will make data available as soon as possible."
How long does it take to do In Vitro? Anyone know?
To save time and lives, why not just add a bit of sng001 to local water supply where infection levels are high, just like fluoride.
