Cisco Systems in 1998 right before the Tech Boom and let's just say I learned a lot (the hard way) from that boom...I plan to apply lessons learn to the CV boom. 75% of my portfolio has now been diversified in CV stock. SNG is the cornerstone of my CV stock after investing many research hours back in March.. GLA.... patience is the key then make sure to at least top slice when the BIG news comes and I do believe approval is only a matter of time..
When Norwich Union demutualised I received some free shares and I could also purchase extras at a discounted price, so I did. My first independent investment was in Knowledge Technology Systems, where I brought 100,000 shares as 3.5p each and sold them a week later at 7p a good start and I've kept on *mostly* doing the same...
By the way I am not having a go. A made about 9 purchases in the last 2 days ;-)
Fair play and good points, but it is still a punt. If it wasnt then it would not be at this price. It is similar to miners. There are different levels that you can buy into but the cheaper the share (generally) the earlier it is. Sres just got its permits...you could have bought them a few weeks ago for half the price, but now with permits for many it is better paying a bit more after confirmation knowing that it still has many many bags left in it. Pays your money.......atb
Splatted- it was a punt when it was pre hospital trial readout. It now has efficacy against Covid and COPD. Highly likely to be an effective all round anti viral so imo it isn’t a punt anymore. The punt, at the time, got rewarded from the 30p’s to £2.50. Clearly has retraced for now but you can’t hold a good share down for long!. Particularly when hospital admissions will go through the roof and people start asking what drugs do we have and not so centred on testing and vaccines which have taken up far too much money and media space this far, with zero impact.
Hee hee.. can I buy shares in doner kebabs taiwan? I am currently in taiwan, and you can’t get a good donner anywhere..I cant be bothered to start the business but if anyone wants a sleeping partner.. hee hee yum yum
Burford was my first serious buy last year.
Bought after MW attack with a view it was oversold and I could make a quick profit because MW attack was mostly rubbish (targeted attack). Caught a falling knife. Went back up, bought some more, was up 25% and forgot to sell (believed it would go higher/re-bounce when it fell). It didn't.
Bought more when it fell and ended up sitting on a 30% 'Loss' - averaged down some more. Became a mid to long term prospect.
Today that lost disappeared for the 1st time in a year - hopefully results + NYSE dual listing will create profit. Phew!
Probably hold for compound returns on growth, going for 150%+ profit in next few years (better than 1% in savings account). Rest are in funds except SNG - got hit by Woodford - which would have probably been looking pretty good by now.
my worst was Greggs bought high just during early Covid, did not follow my rules, I have 53 shares to remind me...
Maybe they could develop the steak bake as an anti obesity drug delivery system, now where is the patent office number :)
"I don’t want to come across as a bit nasty, but this is not really an investment, it is really a punt."
Oh no. Who's going to break the bad news to the doctors and scientists who've invested a large part of their careers on this? I wonder if Venrock can get a refund on their 'not investment'.
I hope that didn't come across as a bit nasty because I was aiming for mercilessly cruel.
Hemogenyx was my first. Bought in at 1.9p. Made £3.6k and didn't know what to do. Watched it disappear by the end of the day. Lesson learnt but I managed to get my holding on a free in the end. Not that I think it will ever do anything.
GDR an absolute dog of a share will never touch again!
SNG made me more money than I knew what to do with!
And a huge upside if all goes well atb
I don’t want to come across as a bit nasty, but this is not really an investment, it is really a punt. But not a bad one at these prices
Try Sres. All permits done, and in huge demand. Sorry for the blatant plug.. dyor !
Surprisingly or rather not, It's actually SNG for me and I had made my first small purchase on crazy Monday after reading about the firm. Been investing in funds all these years every month from my savings regularly and it's not really got me anywhere..Still to see what SNG finally does for me, but so far I am quiet deep in the red after all the additional research and topups, lol.
Dragon Oil in the very early days. Only £500 but made a very nice gain some years later! Beginners luck
Worst was ami. Never put too much in African mineral miners. The numbers seemed so good... oh dear, never in Africa. 12k loss
Quite Ghia ! Dumb luck for me too. Only my second share purchase
Worst share I purchased Lightwaverf they’ve delisted.
Brilliant products House is kitted out throughout but poor investment.
Apologies sold about 46 pounds. Did about 10,000% from September 1999 to March 2000. Pure dumb bubble luck. Info bank crashed and burned in the bust a few months later, surrounded in fraud cases
Bluemoon - I remember those crazy days. My first share purchase was DES and remember logging in from a hostel in turkey to watch the RKH meteoric rise only for the dial up connection to fail which ironically saved me from selling out far too early.
Info bank in 1999, bought 45p and sold around £10.50p, bought two houses to rent and 1 for me...never got close since..still looking though
Falkland oil and gas. Made about 5k always jumped out before each round of Annoucements. Sp wouldn’t rise in anticipation I was skint back then and didn’t but dare lose it.
Haven’t traded since until March. That was about 10 years ago.

Marconi... terrible investment of money but they gave me a great start on my career which has done me very well.
Boohoo in 2014. Beginners luck.
