They definatly were, I remember it well because the in-laws were regurgitating their favourite bits from the recent press conferences of the time, it was at a wake so I had to bite my tounge.
Yeah Doc, in isolation that is a perfectly sensible thing for Boris the say, along with any other sensible person, the thing is, 2 weeks into the vaccine roll out him and Hand**** were literally attributing the fall in case numbers to the vaccine.
Doc,
Fall of numbers are down to reduced amplification of the PCR test in January after the ‘WHO’ raised concerns!
The seed has been planted for future lockdowns when new variants mysteriously appear ( my guess Autumn ) , just in time for the government to extend emergency laws,
BTW , did you get your son’s thyroid tested regarding his overheating?
Thanks for your post Professor.
On a lighter note. I had a laugh the other night when the police raided a church for covid rule breaking. It would be like ° step away from the Bible, put your hands in the air'.
Good evening all.
Spot on Joey!
Woody, "How can Boris Johnson come out with a sweeping statement like this ???"
Boris is the king of the sweeping statement, he's built his career on it, the problem is we don't have an effective media to hold him and his throw away remarks to account, and here we are with a government with zero accountability.
Many people haven't had the second doses yet and young people haven't been vaccinated at all yet. Cases will start going up again as restrictions ease.
Woodstock, Not!
I would sooner take my chances with Sng001 - a naturally occurring protein with no side effects rather than an EUA vaccine with growing side effects (yellow card increasing)
They have told us, they don’t stop transmission and at best the reduce symptoms. It’s get scary that they are pushing it on the young.
Have you listened to the recent- Dr. Mike Yeadon podcast with James Delingpole?

RE: Boris Lockdowns not vaccines more effectiveToday 17:41
My problem is, How can Boris Johnson come out with a sweeping statement like this ???. Surely lifting lockdown will not be a problem as many of us have been vaccinated. Do the vaccines work or not ??? Simple question.
It sounds profound but I wish this pandemic gone today. The long term effects on the World economy will effect us all
I have had the vaccine, thanks to the kind advice of some on this board. I hope for all our sake the vaccines and alternative treatments work. My sadness is raised because it appears the vaccine stradegy could prove fruitless.
Isn’t the AZ vaccine only 20% effective against the SA variant
BJ: "They do work but not in the way we've made you believe over the last few months. In fact, we aren't sure they work. JVT, would you like to add anything?"
JVT: "Aaaarrrrgh!"

If Boris says something reasonable, run for the hills! It must be an indication that the government have insider knowledge of something really bad, e.g. their beloved Oxford-AZN vaccine isn't actually working, just like the Sinopharm crapcine, or something like that. It also indicates no further relaxation of rules on 17th May, methinks...
BoJo thinking: "If only some smart professors from a British university could invent a wonder drug that works at all stages of the illness..."
Agreed Joey. It's not something I thought BOJO would say on record at this point so they must be anticipating problems ahead in the coming months..

Remember when Matt H said we'd get back to normal after Easter? Seemed optimistic at the time and just plain daft now.

hmmm Boris changing tact? https://twitter.com/northerness/status/1381923895146643461
'The reduction in hospitalisations, deaths and infections has not been achieved by the vaccination programme. It's the lockdown that has been overwhelmingly important in delivering this improvement in the pandemic'
I'm not great with politics but this seems like he is laying foundations for another lockdown and isn't showing great confidence with the AZN vaccine. I do wonder with the SA variant cases in South London are they expecting it to spread hence a new stance negative on the vaccine and promoting the lockdown benefits. Just a bit odd considering vaccines were previously the route out of the pandemic.
Will be interesting to see the next data of the variants - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-variants-genomically-confirmed-case-numbers/variants-distribution-of-cases-data
