......apart from New York......
......it is also worth mentioning.....England has the largest and oldest BME community in temperate climates......less sunlight.....more Vit D deficiency.....less immunity.....
They also have more inherent diabetes and heart disease.....
....when all the world calculates deaths in the same way (total deaths over annual average).....and after at least one annual cycle(12 months).......it is very uncertain which country has come out worst....Japan, Korea, SE Asia, China all seem to have a level of herd immunity......following previous coronavirus epidemics..... see papers on Japan Covid......DYOR......lets wait and see.......
Just be thankful Steptoe wasn't on watch .
Chrishar - It's not their confidence or bluster I give two hoots about! That's just a smokescreen for dangerous levels of incompetence and agendas.
Looks like Southampton could see more clients for SNG over the coming weeks !!!! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8506605/amp/The-43-local-authorities-England-Covid-19-cases-RISING.html&ved=2ahUKEwjG9LaMpsLqAhViRxUIHfgtCwcQFjAAegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw2Ou1xCRq3t6svodv0DgrOb&cf=1
Let's be honest, unless you are apolitical you've decided what you're going to believe and what sources to trust by now. Neither side is 'right' of course but there are certain things that are more objective than others. The UK clearly does not have the system in place of other countries, especially Asian nations. Whether or not that's the government's fault is open to debate but the amount of bluster and confidence along the way leaves them open to ridicule.
"Maybe our Government deserves some credit rather than a bunch of Captain Hindsight’s constantly criticising"
That's the best joke I've heard all week. Priceless.
The media have acted in the most deplorable manner throughout the Covid19 debacle, misreporting, selective reporting and blatant lies. There are a lot of simple folk who believe what they read and see broadcast on their screens thanks to the dumbing down of the education system . Well done the teaching unions.
Is that the same WHO chief who insisted no problem in China last October when visiting his mate.
Amazing that the world's governments are not addressing how China's leader has brought the rest of the world to its knees, without even firing a shot. There he is just quietly waiting in the wings ready to takeover companies as they fail and fill the world with Made In China.
How about some balance? The government's response has not been an unmitigated disaster and there is some evidence that the late lockdown was very much the fault of the sage advisors (minutes from before the lockdown show no urgency from the scientists to lockdown earlier than they did and a reliance on inaccurate modelling). However they have without doubt failed on numerous fronts. The test, track and trace system is a total joke and failure and it pained me to watch ministers try to defend it. There has been so much bluster around areas such as quarantining travellers that was purely spin to seem like they were taking this seriously. And the shift in messaging is so quick at times if you blink you miss it. eg banning eating out to subsiding it in the space of barely a few months is pretty mad.
Credit!! The constant lying about figures on deaths, ppe, testing doesn’t deserve credit for me. I haven’t forgot! I would prefer if they would go against their natural instincts and tell the truth once in their lives. I don’t care if the stats are bad just don’t want to be told porkies and treated like a chump!
"WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the total number of infections around the world had doubled in the last six weeks. “In most of the world the virus is not under control. It is getting worse,” he warned."
