Virologist on BBC said they were already giving more vaccines to elderly where they had no antibodies. It appears the elderly auto immune system basically forgets quickly and this is why the elderly have little reaction to the vaccines when given (don't react to virus in the first place).
If Synairgen can save lives and remove the need for hospitalisation then this is an ideal treatment as we will ultimately all get Covid 19, it is inevitable and as the virus mutates the need will become greater
The only thing I didn’t understand was potentially how low efficacy against catching or transmitting would be. Testing currently suggests anywhere from 10-30% effective, I was hoping it would be much higher but I guess variants have impacted that.
But vaccines are highly effective at saving lives, people just need to be aware that a small but significant number can still catch the virus and still end up in hospital and therefore take precautions when in enclosed spaces and close proximity to strangers. It’s good to see down here in the South West, the vast majority are still wearing masks in supermarkets, post offices and retail in general.
My first post here although have a stake since May.
There shouldn't be any ambiguity on the continuous need for vaccines (top up jabs, new vaccine upgrades - preventative or reduction in severity). hand in hand, there is also no ambiguity of the need for therapeutics to cure patients (reactive rather than preventative)- several products are in the pipelines across different companies, some at phase 2 (eg SpectrumX, to be listed) and phase 3 (eg Synairgen), both based on using nebulisers.
Perfectly described skippy
It was pea****ing and to implement fear.
And the award of contracts to build and dismantle to certain parties.
I don't get the perceptions about the vaccines. I reflect on what I knew before I had my vaccines:
- I knew the vaccine did not provide 100% immunity. I was confident it would increase my chances of surviving if I got Covid by more than 70%.
- I knew that some individuals respond to the vaccine less than others and that some will not have any immunity from the vaccine.
- I knew that the vaccine would likely only last for a relatively short period and that the immunity would decline after a period.
- Therefore I knew boosters would be needed and that these 'might' be a seasonal thing like the flu vaccine.
- I knew that there was a high chance of side effects and a very very small chance of significant side effects. I was handed a leaflet that explained all that.
I'm not trying to start a fight. One of the reasons to invest in SNG is that it is clear that the vaccine net doesnt catch all the fish and therefore therapeutics are going to be important and in our case SNG is producing a treatment that has wider usage outside of the Covid pandemic.
I just don't think the merits or limitations of one is a reason to disparage the other.
No staff
Also another thing that I don’t understand is why did the government close down specifically made “hospitals” for covid.. instead of wasting money on useless things, why not keep 2/3 operational in different regions that way no need for further lockdowns and ppl won’t need to visit normal hospitals so they can do their jobs and won’t be affected if hospitalised covid numbers go up.. it will definitely be cheaper to do that then keep ppl locked up and pay them etc.. I really don’t get the thinking behind I some of the decisions this government has made
"In England, where the vaccine rollout has been staggered from oldest to youngest and nine in 10 over-50s have been fully vaccinated, 30 per cent of the 1,788 people admitted to hospital because of the Delta variant in the four weeks to July 19 were fully vaccinated. About half of the 460 deaths in the country linked to the Delta strain since February were people who were also fully immunised."
“Leaky vaccines probably put herd immunity out of reach, especially when faced with [the] Delta [variant]”

It is unsustainable to run national vaccine programmes. The vaccines are a bridge to therapies for those worse affected by the virus. The Government assumes that everyone responds the same to vaccination. Around 10% are non-responders. Around 1 in 5,000 have adverse responses so so severe they can not have a second dose and are probably doublely protected than someone having two jabs. The stupidity and mis-messaging from the government is unhelpful. It is intended to divide society so they can hide other issues and problems.
I’m actually surprised that Biden could even string a coherent sentence together. I’m not that surprised that it was utter nonsense though. Pandemic of THe unvaccinated, what a load of balls.
Doc u don’t seem to understand that getting up to 8 shots in 2 years isn’t an ideal situation, u can’t guarantee that down the line it won’t backfire, no one can that’s the point, so when politicians call ppl cowards and selfish without giving them solid facts that nothing will happen to them later is no different to the anti vax conspiracy nutters talking about 5G and stuff… u might be happy being a guinea pig but a lot of us aren’t simple as that… I want to see a proper vaccine that will last for 18 months or longer
Everytime you have the experimental vaccine your chances of an adverse reaction doubles. It is a really small risk though but you are much much more likely to have and adverse reaction to 'the vaccine' than wining the euromillions.
I'm at two doses and doing okay, I'm undecided about a third dose though.
Gkb, u can’t question the vaccine, it’s unpatriotic and selfish! Just got get jabbed 4 times a year and shut up lol Been saying this since November, getting vaxed so many times won’t end well so the big boys better come up with some proper vaccines by next year or we will lose at least half of the vaccinated ppl, they will simply refuse to carry on like that
That might be subject to contraception.
I must be really tired today: I read the first para of gkb's post as "Evidence from Israel that those vaccinated early on have lost their virginity". :-)
Some are being overly concerned about the 'apparent' decline in covid cases or the fact that an Autumn Booster vaccination plan is being mooted and it's effects on sng.
Whatever happens here in terms of government support or short term declines in a particular variant is in my view of not great importance as other variants will emerge and our success will
be in all likely hood be achieved with the Americans and other countries. This is a therapeutic of wide ranging benefits and of interest globally.
As I have posted before for something to have a global impact the data must be thorough, wide ranging and robust and this will consequently take time.
Any criticism of the company or its management is in my view wholly unjustified.
