Taken from today's Essentra RNS, North America elective surgeries recovering in Q4
"The Packaging division's revenue declined 6.1% on a LFL basis in Q3 2021 (reported growth of +3.6%, LFL decline of 15.2% vs. 2019) as prescriptions and elective surgery volumes continue to be impacted by the pandemic. The division implemented pricing actions in Q3. The slower than expected recovery in volumes coupled with global supply chain challenges - the availability and cost of raw materials and labour especially in the US, means the Q4 margin is now expected to be slightly below 8%. However, we expect global healthcare systems will continue to recover given pent-up demand, a trend we are already seeing reflected in our current order levels, especially in North America. "
loaded up a few k more shares at 1240 on 6th Oct. Been wrong before on this one but I regard this as a LT investment at these levels. Should see £13+ £14+ and £15+ on the next 6 months as far as I am concerned and 20/25p dividend collected annually so all good.
More upside than downside.
Just a view, not a recoomendation.
This is a solid company,Covid, bar a few hiccups is yesterdays news,I see any pull backs as good entry points.
Any weakness in Sterling should be seen through a bullish lens and would make this a very enticing morsel for predators.
Negatives : A silly acquisition or the much anticipated but yet to be seen pull back in the US indicies. Its a bull market folks, hold for £20 in due course or a trade sell @£16.50.
Best of luck.
Actual numbers of patients admitted to hospital with covid 26% lower than headline figures
"At a press conference from Downing Street on Wednesday evening, Dr Jenny Harries, the chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency, took the public through slides showing that there were currently 7,891 people in hospital with Covid in the UK.
What she failed to mention is that this figure does not only include people admitted with Covid, but also those who test positive for coronavirus while in hospital for another condition.
Hospitals were instructed to distinguish between the two groups earlier this year, but so far it has not filtered down into the official figures.
In fact it is only possible to find the data by scrolling to the very bottom of the “Hospital Activity” page of the NHS website. Even then, the figures are woefully out of date.
At the most recent count for England on Oct 12, 26 per cent of the overall cases were not primarily Covid.
If that was extrapolated to Dr Harries’ British data, it would mean that more than 2,000 people included in the Government’s press conference figure are actually in hospital for other causes.
A similar problem can be seen in the daily reported death figures published on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard. On Tuesday, many experts seized on 223 reported deaths to argue that Britain should enact Plan B restrictions.
But the reported death data does tend to jump around depending on the day of the week and reflects deaths over several days. Look at the figures by “date of death”, and it is clear to see the situation is largely plateauing. "

NHS staff have delivered millions more tests and treatments this summer while hospitals cared for thousands more patients with COVID, according to new figures released today.
There were 3.9 million diagnostic tests and 2.6 million patients started consultant-led treatment over June and July, compared with 2.7 million tests and 1.6 million treatments over the same time last year.
The increase, which included hip and knee replacements and cataract procedures, came as the number of COVID patients in hospital grew from under 800 at the start of June to more than 5,000 at the end of July.
