interested in people views on the share buy back
I personly thought it was a good idea
been posting on ncyt share board
ncyt share price has dropped around 50 % over past number of weeks
although started to rise today again
my thinking share buy back has strengthened sla share price which I am a long term holder
And they have sold a stake in their India operations for approx £200m to be used for general corporate purposes (ie debt repayment, dividend, redundancy...)
Jatw; Thanks for the information. I'm in two minds now if this is worthwhile if it is uncertain if they will be able to maintain the dividend going forward.
They have distributable reserves and have reorganised the business over the last few years much to the disgust of Ex SL shareholders.
They can always raise cash To pay the dividend by selling their sizeable stake in Phoenix and India if needed while they wait for the Investment ( Aberdeen business ) to recover.
I am considering investing here for long term for the dividend but am concerned that in 4 of the last 5 years EPS did not cover the dividend. Can someone explain how they manage to pay the dividend when EPS do not cover it. I believe that only once in the last 5 years EPS exceeded the dividend in 2016. The other 4 years EPS did not cover the dividend paid?
:+)
that's part of reason why I like this share
have held long term
That's why institutional funds like so much this company, look at the long list of funds which have parked their money https://fintel.io/so/uk/sla
Very bright future for SLA
Dividend paid and sat in my account...
Jerk,
Agree wholeheartedly!!!
At least one company has sufficient integrity to consider its shareholders. May it long be supported !!
London pre-open: Stocks seen up again amid Covid vaccine hopes
Tue, 19th May 2020 07:31ShareCast
(Sharecast News) - London stocks were to rise again on Tuesday following sharp gains in the previous session, which was underpinned by hopes of a coronavirus vaccine.
The FTSE 100 was called to open 22 points higher at 6,070.
CMC Markets analyst David Madden said: "European stock markets were firmly in positive territory by the middle of the session, and the icing on the cake was when Moderna Inc, announced that its potential Covid-19 vaccine showed positive results in phase one of the human trials. The next phase of trials will be undertaken soon, while the third phase of trials - which will include thousands of patients - might be conducted in July.

Tune1
Thanks for post good to find out dividend being paid
have not looked at some of my shares

another rns expected there Thursday after that might buy some more SLA
:+)
I was going to add a caveat along your lines in my post. Best not to assume anything in the current climate.
Something about counting chickens comes to mind.Keep it hush on the divi, don't focus minds.Let it just happen,,quietly.
Final Payment Date for Dividend is Tuesday 19 May 2020.
blue finish today which good to see
also good to see they buying back so many shares
have not got dividend
has any one else received theirs yet
Yes you are correct - that's the ultimate aim. However, float will go up when employees exercise things like options.
They've been buying back for a while and are targetting 750m in buy-backs ( I think that's the latest figure). Price is falling because of general market sentiment. SLA is an asset manager and earns revenue based on AUM - if this figure falls, it means less revenue (and profits) for SLA.
Saying that, it has a solid balance sheet. Good, IMO, for the long-term.
Yesterday and today SLA announced purchases of their own shares. They say in today's RNS that their intention is to cancel these shares. Am I right in thinking that this means there will now be (slightly) less SLA shares in circulation, effectively concentrating the value of each share?
I'm just confused as to why this action should see a drop in the SP today, although it may just be the generally depressing sentiment today re: price of oil etc.
I'm considering buying some of these shares for a long term hold ( 10+ years) as a supplement to my meagre pension expectations.
Positive noises from Keith Skeoch recently and fill me with confidence that SLA are taking a firmly positive stand on their dividend (again on Friday, CNBC, he was quoted reaffirming strongly the dividend payment/policy), great to see that they value this as much as we do. Also he recently said the new environment should be exactly the time active managers should shine, could we now see the shift from passive to active? Given his statement on this you would hope he has a degree of confidence SLA can start reaching their huge potential.. Another strong recommendation in todays MF too (though always take this with a ton of salt). Good prospects with a huge dividend going forward? Thoughts?
Makes sense Tomglan, did you factor in debt?
hopefully with enough testing , hoping testing will see more people back to work if and when they find out who is immune hopefully get oil workers nhs workers and other workers
and not have to wait a year for a vaccine or 18 months for a vaccine
