martin1 i was totally unware myself of the takeover bid when i posted on the Firstgroup board this afternoon. Firstgroup management were correct to reject the takeover approach by Apollo Global which fundamentally undervalues the company by a wide mark. The rules state they have till the 9th May to table a revised offer or walk away for at least 6months. ATB
Stagecoach. While I did not know at time of posting.a bid has been made for Firstgroup which I think as overextended itself with not best Management in past Agree with you about Brian Souter
Maybe a future buyout by the management and the company turned into a private entity. However knowing Brian Souters canny business acuem, he will try and pick the company up as cheaply as possible, if that his is future intentions for the company.
Whats the chance of a buyout of this Company Market capitalisation 821m seems cheap to me
With the collapse of the East Coast Main line franchise and lost income from the SWT franchise the shares now look fair value. However it is now hard to see where future forward earnings growth projections are going to come from within their exsisting remaining operations, that will have to work extra hard to make up the shortfall of the lost income without putting the dividend at risk of being cut .
Well, I have my divvy reinvested. Nice to have a few free shares :-)
Hope we can hold for 2018 then extra happ G L A
Everyone.
On the plus side, divvi day coming soon, so those like myself that are reinvesting it will get a couple of extra free shares because of the lower s.p. So not all bad news.
Down over 11% for a few days snow .two Months yes Stand to be corrected what I see is most money making operations still on course
Good time to buy in mate.
What is the reason for sgc sinking like. stone this afternoon. There is no RNS. It doesn't seem right that us punters are outside the know
Good to see some recovery here.
A lack of disclosure by HMG/ network rail. They did not count on having nice shiny new trains sitting in mothballs because the power supply on the east coast main line had NOT been up specked as stated at the auction.
Goahead did a better job of the estimate. Its that long ago I cant see 3 appearing for a long time.
Morning Some people will take a risk and invest . Others just sit back and smuggly rubbish others . SGC got their sums wrong because trying to cost a business plan on something the size of a railway is dam near impossible . Others like banks who have managed to break so many laws and get away with it are the real crooks for destroying people’s investments . Personally I wouldn’t hold the share just to get the dividend but I do think in the medium term the SP will improve a bit . At that point I would get out as I think there are too many ticking time bombs likely to arise over Brexit and interest rates etc etc . Let’s hope it steadies up a bit and makes a bit of a recovery for all those invested . In the long term I’m sure it will be fine if they just stick to buses maybe .? Fingers crossed all and good luck
Can not see the above being affected So I expect quick turn around in Share Price G L A
Good luck with that. Those of us that post on this board have a stake in the company, and endevour to be courteous to others, and do not mess about putting childish comments like that about. So if you want to play silly bug gers, would you mind p155ing off somewhere where you will be made welcome. Thanks in advance.
Just seen a piece about stagecoach on TV. Got their sums wrong. Lost a shed load of millions. Now whose going to buy shares in a company like this who "gets their sums wrong"? I was thinking of investing here but oh no. I'm thinking of investing in Carrilon!!!!
Starting to show some recovery quickly.
Ouch, sounds painful.
Aprt from the projected 200m loss, approx. 1/5th of the company valuation...
No dramatic bad news and we're dropping like a stone! Obvious guess it's down to the American markets tanking yesterday. Unless anyone can think of anything.
V good RNS, confirms that the Dti and Sec of State probably aren't capable of running a sweetie stall at under 5's playgroup fund raiser!
Contract to run East Coast franchise to end earlier then expected ,has to be plus for me
