It's good job jcreek has such authority over the markets that he can guarantee it's not going to bottom out on Monday.
Amazing!
Who knows where this is heading....... don’t for one minute assume that because kids are returning to school that stagecoach share price is going to start a one way spiral upwards..... Way too much damage has been done by this Covid virus.... life is never going back to normality, well not for the foreseeable future..... Footfall is massively down at present, yes it’s gradually rising but it’s no where near what it needs to be.... patronage levels are still only 30% of pre Covid levels... some employees are still furloughed... some have been made redundant or taken early retirement...... as one of the directors has said... everything is being monitored hour by hour.... personally I’m not bothered, life’s a gamble currently I’m only putting my money into stagecoach... and every spare quid is going into it... looking at a 2 -5 year period not worried even if it goes to 30p... just means I get more for my money......
Are you saying there is going to be a continuing drop before it goes back up ?
I guarantee you SGC won't bottom out on Monday.
What do you think the sp will be in a year ?
I remember when commodities hit rock bottom couple of years ago - some wrote a piece which said Glencore might collapse. On that morning Glen sp fell 30% on no news.
That was the bottom. Bottoms are associated with extreme fear and capitulation. This is why SGC may bottom on Monday, let's see what it hits and I will call it the bottom. I suspect 39p but will finish the day up.
Bus companies will return to normal and the SP will double quite quickly, but not from the current SP. I feel we are looking at a low of about 25p, look at FIrst Group, it hit 25p in March, but as we know it is now the same sort of price as Stagecoach. it will if anything to 15p, but will itself double to 30p. Both companies will benefit from a vaccine which may work for 6 months, but with time these vaccines will improve.
Share prices mean nothing! Look at the Mkt. Cap. of the company concerned which could have any number of shares in issue.
Comparing share prices gets you nowhere! More worrying is an article in today's Telegraph which suggests bus companies will never make money again! Has to be linked with SGC hitting a 52 week low and the clever money will pile in.
Are you looking at the UT? That is not a single transaction but rather a balancing of the books at the end of the day.
First group is now higher ?
huge dump of shares at the close... something fishy going on
Bought at 43.99p
Hoping it's a double bottom
With the children going back to school next week, that will free up parents who couldn't get child minders to return to work. MPs are leading by example by returning to parliament so hopefully many city workers will return too. I am a bus driver 59 years of age with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and have had to work through all this just like the shop workers and van delivery drivers and can't understand why anyone under 40 in good health was ever furloughed in the first place. Rant over, just saying things are looking to return to near normal on the buses soon, imo of course.
I'm aware that Manchester maybe franchised , not sure if this would improve the share price or not ?
I wouldn't touch first group with a barge pole. Too much US exposure for a start, we've already been down that road and got out. All Stagecoach woes behind us now. Still, somebody somewhere seems to have an interest in keeping the share price where it is. Maybe the FAMILY want to take it private again ?
It's surprising that stagecoach share price is 45 and first group is 42. Stagecoach are in a much better position so I've heard.
Who keeps dumping stock at or near to the close each day....
I know services are getting slightly busier everyday and schools open next week with services going up to 90 per cent.
Are you planning on holding long term ? Or selling when it gets to a certain value ?
What is everyone's average buy ?, Mine is currently 64, what would you expect this to be by Christmas ?.
Extra buses and school service prioritisation from September
We are committed to helping London's schools reopen safely in September 2020. Around 250,000 school children use London's buses to get to and from school. So, from 1 September until the end of October 2020 we're planning to add over 200 extra buses to the network.
We're also planning to prioritise some of our bus services for school travel. Government guidance allows for all seats to be occupied on these 'school services', doubling their capacity, which is currently limited due to necessary social distancing.
These 'school services' will be clearly signed and are planned to operate on:
• 600-numbered school routes
• Some of our busiest high-frequency routes in both the AM and PM peak
• On certain low-frequency routes which we forecast to have a demand that exceeds the current capacity of buses.
We ask that schoolchildren travelling without adult's travel on the designated school services where these are provided, in order to help ensure space for customers on other services.
We will continually review how our network is operating to ensure our approach is working and meeting demand as best as possible. Check this page regularly for the latest information on our services and safer travel guidance.
By doing all of this we will help increase capacity and free up other buses for other customers including your staff, and also help enable London's young people to make safe and reliable journeys to and from school.
Routes with extra buses being provided:

School kids are big users of buses after the summer hols most will return. Pensioners will gradually gain confidence and return also. That just leaves city workers and tourists to take up the slack. Working from home will never replace offices in any large way. Office leases cant simply be unwound. Quiet routes have been and will continue to be axed. No more N American contracts to worry about. Plenty of money in the bank and still profit making and that's during a global pandemic. Of course I could be wrong, the end of the world could be coming.
