The reason I first invested in Stagecoach was after reading somewhere that they would do very well out of Brexit, if it ever happened. It did, but that was then (last year) and this is now, post Covid19 scaremongering. Todays rise looks more like what we should start seeing from now on. Personally I think there's been a big seller somewhere for whatever reason and this has held the SP down but if they've cleared out/off we should see a nice recovery here from now on. Stagecoach is now focusing on its core UK market away from trains and US exposure. Yes they are on the lookout abroad for opportunities. Perhaps they will use some of the £800 million unused Covid war chest to buy a few Co's out.
Home working means fewer commuters using public transport, also those who do have to travel and have the option to use a car are perhaps choosing to do so. It'll pick up eventually but patience is required. Think long term - buy now and forget about them for a few years. Interesting the Dow has almost fully recovered though whereas the ftse is languishing behind suggesting domestic issues such as brexit may also be having a negative influence on the UK markets.
I thought stagecoach was one of the stronger bus companies, does anyone know what's going on ?
Hi guys, its not even flat, with every passing day, the value is going lower and lower whilst most of the other transport stocks have shown some life. I am 25% in red by the way lol :)
what does that tell you about it's recovery?
May not be in yet, I would have expected a bit more of a bounce up if indeed the low had been reached. Might we still see 39p ? Or as some have predicted lower ? I dont know. What I do know is that buses are getting busier and life will return to normal and that includes people going back to the office. This working from home business while it may have some legs I dont see it happening on such a large scale long term. We are social animals at least thats what we're always being told and that includes working together as part of a team face to face in an office at least a few days a week. It will pay workers to do so. If employers get the impression that all can be done from home its only a small step for that home to be in say India, where for a few rupees the same work can be done that used to cost £££s
been wondering today.. withe the markets moving so much this week on the stronger value of the pound......if the pound were to fall drastically due to a no deal confirmed...if a lot of money came from America to buy shares...would the price go up or down?? I know that sounds obvious but its like buying 100m shares in Zimbabwe travelogue for 25p
is low now, but we are still in recovery and activation mode
stagecoach has survived the roughest period of the UK lockdown, and now services are coming back online
it was a good day today in that all the shares sold equals what was bought, a nice buoyant position
getting back to per C19 price is a bit too ambitious within the next year, but getting above where we are now to well above the halfway point is a realistic and easy to reach position
keep holding for at least a month, thats all, no point in selling now, sit tight things will be alright
I think that was Cheapshareboy, but what he clearly meant was actually 50p, and he's brave for getting it wrong.
now where are those who said it would be 80p and then a quid so soon?
So around 75 pence ?, I bought at around 66p, I could buy some more but I'm holding back, everytime I think it can't go any lower it does.
I understand the frustration of buying high
I've been there. It's best to consider stopping losses when you make such mistake. I bought here at 43.99p so didn't quite get the low of 40.5p today. But someone making fun of me today bought at over £1 so perhaps you are just trying to cry out your tears. I do understand that.
Looks like I'm the only one though who dared to call the bottom. Maybe you bought in at £1.50 not so nice. Either way hope it turns out better for you
Hi Craig, I bought in a 41.48, and very happy with that.
52-week range 40.56 - 166.80, so got in as low as it has been, and have plenty of room to move upwards.
have put an auto sell price near to what it got to in the start of April and the start of June.
now to go hover other shares up of key infrastructure pieces and put hold positions on them :)
Hi Claire, what sp did you buy in at ?
we've had most of the worst times, stagecoach is now moving into a time when they start making money again because:
People and students are going back to work and school
Stagecoach have had time to adjust to the situation to continue operating
the UK weather now will start to get bad (rain, wind) meaning more people will be using the bus and train again rather than cycling or walking
this share price is at its lowest and found its floor, onwards and upwards over the rest of the year.
Can see institutions buying up now to have a secure position.
Cheapshareboy what you actually claimed was that on Monday SGC would hit 39p and will finish the day up.
It didn't move on Monday, or hit 39p today, or finish the day up. That's 3 strikes in 1 prediction, yourrrrrrrrrrr out!
I said it would hit 39p today but it hit 40.5p.
That is the bottom in now.
Reason buses are 3 quarters empty is because on double deckers only 32 people can be carried and I believe around 15 on a single decker...... now come schools reopening..... social distancing has gone out of the window... bus drivers won’t be able to control anything if they try.... the bus won’t be moving.... you cannot kick the children off, as they’re classed as vulnerable people..... more buses will be run...... but I can pick up 70 plus kids just at one bus stop.....life will return to normal..., only because it has to...
Now it's reappeared - how queer!
Posted a link earlier which seems to have been removed - why? See Saturday's Matthew Lynn article "A tale of two cities..."
"Busses and trains that already lost money when commuters were packed like suited sardines will be in even worse financial shape now they are three quarters empty."

Ok well is it not sure clear meant Tuesday
beardozer do you have a link to that telegraph article ? Im a subscriber of that newspaper but I can find no trace of it.
Nothing's going to do much of anything on a bank holiday.
