Does seem like a lot of sour grapes to me. What's hotter in the world than a universal coronavirus vaccine at the moment?? Unless he thinks the science is no good.. and I personally trust the scientists of Scancell, University of Nottingham and Nottingham University over a former employee.
Of course all views are allowed and DE is free to do whatever he chooses but I come back to Crumbs 03.55 comment, "seems a bit of I'm (DE) taking my ball home" - I'd agree with that. It must be frustrating for David Evans to be unable to influence the BoD as before on matters that concern him - but to me he seems to have been a bit of a 'stickler' on this point of governance. Going backawhile, I thought his response to Vulpes selling into the rising SP was intemperate.
However DE's departure does feel a bit like losing an old Friend and as I posted to him earlier, "I would be very sad for you to miss out after all when the SP here suddenly hits the GBP8 as often predicted (wink)." DE claims he has better directions in which to place his money and I for one, would certainly like to see how that one turns out.
Anyway, good luck to him and to us too !
Ivy. Here is an alternative view. Maybe DE needs the funds to invest in his own bio venture? Who knows. ATB.
Morning guys, would be ok to see a stock transfer between DE and Vulpes.
I met DE just about ten years ago, abut 4/5 years ag he retired all his positions, I sincerely hope this is nothing to do with his health?
Morning GF,
Thanks for response.Of course all views are allowed and in this instance I and many others are supportive of the BODs position in this matter. No where have I said the BoD are wrong in this instance but everyone should reserve the right to disagree or agree on any issue without being labelled as being “ bitter “ or having some type of hidden agenda.
A holding of 6m -7m is of considerable size and I will leave it up to others to decide it’s significance.I appreciate that if that size of holding is entirely in SCLP then it is not out of the ordinary in P/F size and equally is not “ massive” to those individuals like DE and his peers who have extensive investments beyond SCLP
So IVY. Just so I’m clear DE’s alternative view is allowed. Other alternative views which disagree (including the BOD’s) are not and as such are wrong? Interesting! Tells us pretty much everything we need to know. And no his holding isn’t massive. Mine isn’t. ATB
spre - where you say 'he knew about the new company set up before any pi' you are incorrect. Several other pi's were aware of the formation of Zakari several weeks ago but chose not to circulation the information in case it had a negative impact on whatever SCLP are in the process of doing.
As stated by others, I believe that DE has chosen to exit is shareholding purely because he disagrees with the both the company and their nomad regarding whether the formation of Zakari (and the related purpose) should have been immediately RNS'd. This IMO is consistent with DE's approach to things.
Morning Spre,
Interesting discussion about DE motives but personally I just accept them for what he stated and having met him I think he is a principled and transparent guy who disagreed with the BoD on a particular point of Corporate Governance and disclosure and has decided to sell his holding in an orderly manner.
Yes this may represent a culmination of further erosion of his trust in the BoD and yes I feel it odd that he may want to break this news on a public board but how anyone can extrapolate further rationale or attempt to discredit him is ill informed and unnecessary.
He is a very successful, knowledgeable and insightful bio tech investor like the Diggles so why is one deemed better than the other just because one is buying and one is selling SCLP.
In fact I recall similar arguments when Vulpes were opposing the BoD against the additional RM investment so how the selective favouritism and choice of zero to hero is right moves on.
I do believe DE has a holding of about 6-7m so will leave others to decide how “ massive” or otherwise this is.
My main point is just to accept that others may have a different perspective or POV, there is no agenda but am sure I will get accused of having a go at various folk but really want people to have the right to state an alternative view like DE or anyone without being falsely accused of having an agenda.
I value DEs insight and would add that he not only has a contact with the BoD but certainly has discussions with even larger SH than himself so his position may not always be as isolated as some on here indicate.

Spre no. Why do you think is he right? You appear to think because he is disappointed his view hasn’t prevailed, and he has made this decision to announce what he has, as such his decision is right. As I said this is the very reason why he left the bod’s. Personally I think the company knows best and what is best for their shareholders. If you recall the bods wanted to bring redmile in. Vulpes of course didn’t. Well we all know how that worked out! The bod’s have a proven track record, without following conflicting views, and there is clearly a plan being executed. As a shareholder I support their plan just as I did their desire to bring in redmile. Vulpes haven’t left. Why? Because they are a sophisticated investor and see now the benefits. The lesson is we all can still learn something new. Especially when investing. ATB
It is a shame to see Evans as I believe a large investor go... he also helped with media interest and is a big fan of Lindys science and according to him he kept moditope in scancell.... so....
however, seems a bit of I'm taking my ball home going on with him.... he is been getting a bit disgruntled at events for a while when he posts... certainly the redmile vote situ he was not happy about and was one of those worrying about a 22p sell out (not happening)...yes as an investor I think an odd time to be wanting out but he has his 'principals and is his own person so....probably a case of scancell are not playing ball with him (and his concerned others he likes to mention) the way he wants maybe if they talk to him.... and indeed that is an issue here and we all know it they are not the most communicative to us pi... yet we mostly all backed em with redmile ... Evans did too but did not like the situ..... anyways if off he goes off he goes it certainly ain't a time to be selling for me....... I do wish they were more open with plans like a 'Zakari Theraputics' though.... as inan says they are doing nothing illegal.... but they are also not communicating well with US! Vulpes obs happy with the plan though .... and we can say something is brewing there just not what is lol
Yes, thats correct ,he knew about the new company set up before any pi, so to sell he obviously knows a bit more whats going on.... common sense...no??
Spre. So he knows about the sector. But his view isn’t shared by BODs. They have achieved major funding rounds with ii’s and do not share his view. Hence he left. Like Chester says odd to announce your intention on a bb at such an obvious pivotal moment. Anyway he may have already sold out as he stated himself he knew about new co some time ago and his view clearly hasn’t changed. Personally I’d prefer to back the bod’s they have got the co this far with its biggest ever market cap and clearly have sounder judgment. ATB
It is strange to stay on board as an investor, buy more shares when Vulpes arrived and now that the science is about to be finally tested in the clinic he announces he ready to sell out.
If the science proves to work anywhere near to its potential the demand for the shares will be huge.
So it is strange to pre-announce your intentions at such a pivotal moment in Scancell's journey.
Chester.
Ok, not so sure he is a bitter ex employee,, think he brought another 1 million shares when vulpes joined us, think he had a big holding before that...
Anyway, shame to see him go after so many years, and he must know bit more what goes on in the sector..
Evans only declared shareholding was one million bought at 7p, so if still has that, then he can sell and pocket a 140,000 pound profit. A 300 percent profit in a relatively short space of time is commendable, so if he wants out for any reason he's made good. Selling at a profit is fine, especially if one has other plans for the funds. But I suspect Evans' comments have some underlying personal element as much as any business decisions. Anyway, there are a lot of factual and scientific facts to scrutinise pertinent to Scancell's near and longer term future, which makes pondering over the quotes of a potentially bitter ex employee perhaps a little fruitless.
Is DEs holding that massive? I don’t think it is. I believe he left Bods because he didn’t agree with this very type of strategy. That strategy is only now being put in place. Sounds like teddy’s being thrown to me. Remember it’s just an opinion for which he could be wrong! Think Sclp will survive a PI saying they want to sell their relatively small holding in an orderly manner. Especially if they don’t actually sell out until trial news is in and / or SP goes well north of here. (Which is how I read his own post). ATB.
Hi crunbs, what do you make of Evans wanting to sell his massive holdings when news seems to be coming to push the sp up?
Pivotal will be just how exciting are the continuum findings...... they could be very very attractive to potential investment.... And we all know to take things forwards you have to have that .... continuum might have some of the best research and IP ever yet it could never see a clinic unless it goes a company route as in either gets huge private backing like BioNTech initial did either by private individuals or charities etc... or it goes a listed company way.....gets listed and backed by big funds and pi's etc... Anyways this Dr Bent is well clued up when it comes to creating UK biotech unicorns which he did with both Immunocore and Adaptimmune...maybe there is no need for scancell involvement but then again if Lindy is making the discoveries ...some form of scancell TCR spinout (Zacari) with big backing (US-sakaris) possible?
If anyone could find Continuums applied for patents that could be interesting.....
Just a few dots I can see with it all... seems TCR is going to be playing its part this Doc Bent is a proper TCR expert and also a business creator ...Sam will know him ... the whole Oxford labs bit is the thing that gets me thinking a tie-up of somekind like I say I can only find Contiuum have hired one Immunologist ... not going to be much of a lab that!...but in combo with scancell scientists?.... how such a potential company work again I'm not sure but we know scancell have become quite the TCR experts from the BioNTech collab.... maybe they can go it alone using continuums patented IP?.... all just fun speculation but again we know only Lindy is doing TCR work with continuum not the other Unis....
We are still awaiting the exciting announcement from Continuum.
It did seem to be linked to Lindy.
So what I'm saying is a possibility it's about TCRs not Glycans... 'The Lord Remembers' The immune system remembers too... just sometimes needs a nudge :) and Continuums patients hold the answers
probably totally wrong... but nothing else to go on... Its certainly proved to be Evans final straw moment!
Continuums lab is to be Oxford-based so far only recruited one immunologist scancell is recruiting for their lab there Dr Bent is Oxford-based with a therapeutic company there.... Continuum want to bring therapies to market.....
possible other Zakari therapeutics angle ?.... who knows not us lol....
Interesting development at Continuum as they have appointed Dr Bent Jackobsen (co-founder of both Adaptimmune and Immunocore) as CEO... seems whatever they are up to is likely TCR related (what Lindy is working on with them) and Jackobsen will be well known to our Sam Paston..... https://twitter.com/ContinuumLS/status/1408073748637491202
