Konar yes I remember a Scancell retweet earlier and Crumbs, that Prof. Ball tweet indicates that Scancell may be more than 'just a mention' at CEPI.
So where's the announcement as you say . . . ?
Morning Krafty and Crumbs
At this precise moment any potential tie up with CEPI is hidden from us.
Let's just believe for a moment that the Covidity platform is now producing really strong lab results and it's a sound delivery system with no inherent side affects.
If that is the situation then CEPI would want to back it all the way.
I honestly think this is now all about 'If Covidity works and has the full potential we all hope for'. CEPI only mention Notts Uni and Scancell because it fits their brief perfectly.
What we need from Scancell is the confirmation that the platform is Trial Ready and then we will find out what has been causing this long Radio Silence.
Chester.
More interesting is the author of CEPI article likes to retweet it on her Twitter feed and prof Ball has retweeted not her article but one of her tweets which does indicate a possible relationship between CEPI and team notts anyways till we know we don't but a partnership there would not surprise me just would like it to be announced already:)
Chester, I agree. Its only because of what Cepi are saying I am so optimistic and I hope this is the route as their track record in last year is phenomenal. Not sure how many realise on here their input on the AZ/Oxford vaccine
I think CEPI are already creating the potential for Hype.
In CEPI's own words :
'We need to develop a Universal Vaccine, like the one being developed by Nottingham University in conjunction with Scancell'
'We need a Universal Vaccine that targets the Spike and the Nucleaic Capsid, like the one being developed by Nottingham University in conjunction with Scancell'.
'We need a 2nd Generation Vaccine that stimulates a strong T-Cell response, like the one being developed by Nottingham University in conjunction with Scancell'
I think they may well want 'Covidity' and are prepared to back it 'Pre-Clinical'.
Chester.
Roses,
Actually a bit of overhype on the CEPI might be useful to see whether there actually is a (semi) formal price support/lidding operation on the Share Price - as looks to have been the case over the last few months. A negative (or positive from Cepi) would demonstrate that to be the case.
Let the Overhype begin (continue)? LOL
IMO the CEPI funding situation makes no difference at this stage - indeed Scancell may not even have asked them for any funding given how much they have in the bank and benefits of self funding P1/2 (i.e. no obligation to sell the vaccine at cost or very low margin, although they may of course choose to do so). What does matter is getting Covidity into P1/2 trials and getting some data. If the data is good and indicates potential as a universal vaccine then Scancell will have their pick of partners / funders.
Good point..
But haven't these last few times, I just think if nothings going on it's strange not to re-tweet whenever CEPI puts it out there.
I'm convinced that this six month silence is not self imposed.
Chester.
@chester - I hate to ruin the theory.. but scancell did re-tweet the article when it was first published
We have been down this path before with the grand challenge.
The share holders got hyped up assuming we were in with a chance, and when it didn’t happen the share price tanked.
I think it is a prudent decision by scancell to try and not elevate expectations in regard to CEPI’s decision as it could go either way. And if we don’t end up with any funding and scancell were seen to be giving the shareholders the impression that it would, then I think that the same shareholders would be forming a queue to blame the company for giving them a false hope and the share price would tank again.
Having just posted about a possible re-tweet by Scancell, here's an interesting thought that occurred to me after I'd posted.
Why would Scancell 'not' re-tweet that article, it is actually very relevent to the Covidity project and whoever looks after the Twitter account has been busy re-tweeting Bamudashorts posts on a few occasions.
So logic dictates that the question should have been 'why haven't they' ......
Chester.
Morning all
It would be very reassuring if Scancell re-tweeted the article.
Chester
HI C7. the closing dates for submissions was May 31st, giving only 2 months to come up with a viable universal vaccine which did put us at an advantage. so all the different scenarios come in to play. We would be far the smallest company Cepi would have invested in so I am assuming/hoping the delay is do with partnerships or even the potential buy out. And if there was a buy out, that would explain the delays for the other trials. On the other hand, as Topol would say, the recruitment for trial staff implies Scancell are gearing up for doing the trials themselves. Truth is of course we have no idea and await that elusive red dot at 7am every morning!
Morning TF, in fairness it is CEPI who are building all the hopes
Thanks krafty, just been using the morning hours to catch up on a few things. My third computer this year and finally able to retrieve e-mails, I had 1250 unopened, down to 750 now.
I take it from your pot there is no particular date for the ""winners" to be notified........is that the case?
On reflection I suppose it is a little reassuring that CEPI in the last 4 months have not identified specifically or in passing, any other new 2nd generation 'Universal' Covid vaccine project ?
Just retweets of the March 1st article with mention of Scancell.
Not to build a castle in the sky of hopes, but . . . . . . . . . . . .
"Given these promising areas of work, CEPI is also exploring the need to develop a broadly protective coronavirus vaccine, with further details on our work to be provided in the coming weeks."
This is the highlighted summary quote from the end of the article. A few weeks later, there was the call for submissions for the project and now just waiting for the 'winners' to be announced from the resulting cash call to fund the trials.
They only mention 2 projects in this constant retweet, one of which is ours. So yes it would be very strange if the partnership was not to happen.
Morning Guys, TF I agree the CEPI tweeting the same tweet is a bit odd, surely theyhave decided we will be one of the coompanies receiving funds as quite simply what would be the explanation if we aren"t given they have tweeted the same article many times. It might go some way to explaining how we will exactly spend the windfall, but then again surely we would have received some assurance from them that this is the case?? It would be really odd if that was"t the case by now.
Can someone please tell me what the timelines are for waiting on their announcement??
So 9 trading days left in July (I think), particularly pleased as has been the case for long periods we held strong at 20/20.50 to the end of the week, in a week that saw VAL and SAR (IN PARTICULAR) record some huge gains. Something I have been pleased to see in recent times given the circumstances here is the volitility in the share price being so much less, hat being the case I think it will be only great news that will take us into the thirties, good new is just about expected, butto me great new will confirm COVIDITY is moving into recruitment as is MOD1. there is certainly a log jam in our pipeline waiting to go into trials and I prsume advertisements for more new staff reflects that for the development of ore platforms to enter the same position.
So for me it is still all about expectations, we are just coming out of some of the biggest restrictions on new trials we have ever seen and positive news on those two will be a great step forward as the market starts to reduce the trial log jam which has formed.
So still relaxed about news, feeling confident there will be enough good news to send us well North and of particular import is the updates on everything we are doing to give us a much clearer idea of timelines to come, which at the moment we do not have.
Delighted to see the heavens open in London yesterday and this morning, the humidity has cleared for now which for me is a G_D send, and looking forward to next weeks as ever. Have a good weekend wherever you are ATB.
Miavoce this retweeting is odd but shows that the concept of a 'Universal Vaccine' for Covid remains the target of CEPI's ambitions and well done them ! Certainly it would be handy !
2nd generation ambitions were mentioned in Curevac's bad news piece yesterday but even in harness with GSK, do they have the science to get it done ? Quoting their hopes to trial in 2022 they may be some way behind Scancell.
Prof. Lindy and her wizards need to get the whole shebang spot on - tick tock !
Just for the record, CEPI have once again tweeted the article which mentions Scancell.
