wip: "EVERY organisation researching, treating or developing drugs for cancer treatment are profit making, no matter what statistics show."
Hmmmm. SAR????
WIP.
I agree. It really winds me up when a certain 'vaccine' producer is reported as not making any profit.
You just know the costs associated with the running of the company are vast (and vastly overpaid individuals) and taxpayers money has been amortised into overall costs and hence a profit is not shown.
I dealt with PFG who drill into military subcontractors costs and trust me depending on the level of drill they do (primary, secondary, tertiary suppliers, in house bill of material review and confirmation etc) costs can be tweaked in their favour.
Seen it!
Jarvaman - EVERY organisation researching, treating or developing drugs for cancer treatment are profit making, no matter what statistics show. I know this first hand. ‘Profit’ may not be labelled as such, it’s loosely disguised as dividends, salaries and bonuses. I know unskilled box packers earning £50k a year which is a good salary for someone who struggles with simple mathematics, working in pharma. The bonuses even at low level management are not warranted, or deserved.
Just because some statistics say less than 1/5 of organisations are profit making, doesn’t mean its true.
Failed CEO’s are still earning £8m, £9m a year, if that’s not from profit then I don’t know what is.
Aye Jarva- Therapy and care
Ahfam3 - that’s a typical lefty luvvie thing to say -“if they wanted to cure cancer and HIV they could easily do it but there’s no profit to be had and so big pharma hasn’t bothered. . . . . ill-informed, trite nonsense if I dare say so but of course, lapped up by pea-brained conspiracy theorists the world over.
Why do you suppose there is no profit in a cancer cure whereas science has gone on to develop cures for countless other, less significant ailments?
Why do you suppose Sareum is bothering to commit resources to developing therapies for auto-immune disorders if there is no profit in it and cures can be found so easily????
Naive to say the least but to help give you a reality check -
The world currently spends around $167 billion on cancer care. As of 2918, there were 4693 organisations currently involved in oncology research in 107 countries with only 17% of these being “for profit”.
Perhaps you might like to re~examine your perspective??
Correct without a shadow of a doubt
The current thinking on human ailments is that most if not all are down to our own immune system overreacting. It you can effectively control the immune system as the latest inhibitors are looking to do then where does that take us in the future? Initially there will be massive profits to be made but what happens after that is open to debate.
100% True Afhem. Great thought.
Agree ... greed rules supreme
We've had cancer, hiv etc. for decades, yet the majors come together and create a vaccine for covid within a year. If they wanted to cure these illnesses and diseases they could easily but not profitable. Same goes for world poverty if we all came together easily achievable but not profitable.
Aye Sad, it will get licenced and shelved- treatment not cure is how you pay the dividends and keep the income streams coming in. Good job we are patented up as it will be a bidding war.
If Sareums SDC does what it says on the side of the tin. Just how much will the other pharmas lose out?
