Hi Vendric welcome on board as they say! I know Bb will have some thoughts on the numbers and I personally wonder how many singles are actually in double rooms which may have benefits! Your feedback is is invaluable so I am sure like many other long term investors on this board any feedback really appreciated! Thanks!!
Hello Banburyboy. According to reception there are 715 passengers. We are due to sale from Portland at 10 am. Because of delays we shan’t stop at Madeira but at the Azores, instead. Great news as we’ve been to Madeira but not to the Azores!
Welcome onboard D9Ber1 and enjoy the cruise Vendric, hopefully the well stocked galley and bars will take your mind off things until you set sail.
Hi Vendric.
I and others but a great deal of store on analysing how many cabins have been sold to second guess how well cruise is doing. Just before your cruise sailed there were 29 spare cabins mainly higher grades so we have your cruise as 94% full. Great if you could validate its almost full ?
Sorry you got caught in the storm but that will pass and what a fantastic way to spend Christmas hope it's fab. Banbury
I hold Saga Andy my wife and I are on Spirit of Adventure sailing to West Indies. Embarkation was very efficient and the food is great. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately thanks to Storm Barra we haven’t actually got very far. Currently tied up in Portland, Dorset, waiting for break in weather to make break into Atlantic. So far everything under Saga’s control has gone well.
I've just bought in here at 282, I'm confident good long term hold for me in a well established company.
bit of a scramble for shares today....what happens with only 140m shares....278.8p ...easily moves either way
Bb - Thanks and yes Smiths News is another of my long holding stocks that I have topped up again and again! Strangely very much in some ways there are similarities to Saga in the way it was previously run but has again turned the corner!
Please disregard last post this was for one of my other stocks Smiths News!! My mistake!! Was too excited by the news...
Martin have you posted to the wrong board ? I got excited for a minute
Has to be good news and new info re increase in dividend!
This document contains insider information
Smiths News plc
("the Company")
Receipt of pension surplus and increased final dividend for FY2021
The Company is pleased to announce that on 3 December 2021 it received a sum of GBP8.1m representing the present cash surplus (net of professional fees and tax) resulting from the expected winding up of the WHSmith Pension Trust (News section), which is nearing conclusion following the buyout of the scheme by Legal & General in March 2021. Consistent with the terms of our banking agreements, the cash proceeds will be used to reduce bank net debt.
The Board has also revised the final dividend recommendation for FY2021 to 1.15p per ordinary share from the previously announced 1.0p within the full year results published on 4(th) November 2021. This will result in a total dividend for the year of 1.65p (FY2020: nil p). Subject to approval at the Company's AGM on 20 January 2022, the final dividend is expected to be paid on 10 February 2022 to all shareholders who are on the register at the close of business on 14 January 2022; the ex-dividend date being 13 January 2022.
Looking forward to hearing how your friend's cruise turns out. I am sure many others on this board would also love to know. Birdseye!!!
Not invested here, but yes I can agree that Saga do look after there clients, my wife owned a beauty saloon in Algarve inside a hotel foia and many Saga clients use to her for treatments never a bad word was said about the company. Also the Hotel did so well from Saga clientele that they offered all inclusive for Saga . This did not go down well in the local village as many restaurants closed due to all inclusive being taken up .
Bb - Certainly and I was planning that after 5 January when he returns!
I personally feel that fully vaccinated cruising is potentially a much safer place to be even than a posh hotel where there is no guarantee on whom you are next to! This plays out in a very recent Hotel article for hoteliers that was saying quite a few cancellations for Christmas breaks!
Martin - incredibly cheeky but would be dead interested in any Intel you can glean on how full the ships are ? The website has 27 double cabins left for sale on your mates cruise which is nearly 95 % full. Anything anectodily from the staff / passengers. Keep up the good posts. Been here before but really hopeful cruises can keep going in spite of mutations and the January trading update will but a long awaited rocket under the SP .
I have also reviewed six months of cruise availability and no sign of any cancelations. The odd cruise has gone up by one or two cabins but the exception and the eight sold out are still sold out.
My good friend heads off on Monday for Spirit of Adventure 30 day Caribbean Cruise it sounds so perfect and he is very much looking forward to it. He today updated me that he will now need to have a day 2 PCR test which makes sense but Saga have it well organised and will conduct the test on day 0 on their return to the UK and will be paid for by Saga sounds so efficient and just goes to show that they go the extra mile! In fact my friend so impressed even before the cruise on the feedback he has on P&O which he has booked for Christmas next year he has said he is planning to cancel his deposit and move it to the Saga 35 day Caribbean Cruise departing 8 December 22 so he is already sold on Saga Cruising!
One addition he is being collected by Chauffer driven car on Monday and when asked how many suitcases he would be taking he said he still wasn't sure but they said no worry it will only be him in the car so within reason he can take as many as he wants for no additional cost, sounds perfect!!
