A little bird tells me the wife offered to pay the extra £52 to sit elsewhere herself. No ideas why.
Booked some flights to Rome this morning. Using BA - more expensive than Ryanair but a lot less faff and I'd prefer to sit next to my wife and not have to pay an extra £52 for the privilege.
Glad to see the UK has relaxed the Covid tests rip off nonsense. That was just a cash cow for the companies involved. The new rules will reduce hassle and expenses considerably and should definitely increase demand for all airlines. Next step is to allow passengers to be maskless for flights - FFS we've all been jabbed and tested to kingdom come anyway.
Sounding very promising indeed then, very good news to hear for all airline holders. Judging by the amount of people near me that seem to have dismissed all the covid 'safe' tips, i think the winter period could actually be better than in the typical year. Time will tell of course.
If someone dropped you at Tenerife airport now you would see very little difference between the pax numbers compared pre COVID days. Manchester airport at 4pm last Monday was also pretty much normal and quite a queue formed at passport control. All paperwork is checked before anyone is allowed on the aircraft so only passports are shown at the UK destination. I flew in on a 757 which was almost completely full.
The easier way JB is to just read the numbers at the top!
Am glad to know you prefer to be seeing mine and JH's posts however rather than doomster dougs :)
So, more importantly, how are the Canaries and the aircraft for tourist numbers? Are they packed or empty? The summer weather seems to have deserted Cornwall this last week, although lots of tourists about still, presume the sunnier climes will attract more visitors after the rules relaxations - all good for RYA.
A good end to the week and hopefully after the announcement today it gets past €17 and stays there. The good thing about this bb is it is easy to know which way the sp has moved by checking on the posters. If it has gone up DT and JH post, if it goes down UD posts. I had to travel back from the Canaries early in the week (back tomorrow) and I flew Jet2. The experience is head and shoulders above Rya. That fortunately is not why we are invested here.
Hope so John, things looking pretty sweet with the sp at the moment, if the rumours around letting us Brits travel with less restrictions again pans out then i think there will be more bums on seats shortly. Seems everybody has 'forgotten' about covid in daily life down here now.
Just got to see of tomorrows traffic lights announcement supports or maybe adds to todays stonking rise. A few of the knockers on here will be upset, shame.
Definately John, literally flying. Just got to hold onto it till close now, has a habit of slipping back during the afternoon these days.
All good though so far :)

(Sharecast News) - Budget airline Ryanair lifted its traffic growth forecast on Thursday and said it expects to create 5,000 jobs.
The company raised its five-year traffic growth forecast from 33% to 50%. As a result, Ryanair's pre-Covid traffic of 149m is set to grow to more than 225m guests by March 2026, from its previous target of 200m.
Chief executive Michael O'Leary said the performance of the B737 Gamechanger aircraft this summer had exceeded the group's expectations.
"Operational reliability, fuel consumption, and lower CO2 emissions have so far exceeded guidelines with very positive passenger and crew feedback to these new, more fuel efficient, quieter aircraft," he said.
With the new aircraft deliveries, Ryanair will open 10 new bases across Europe this year and take up slot opportunities that are being vacated by competitor airlines that have collapsed or significantly reduced fleet sizes.
Ryanair said it expects to create more than 5,000 new jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers over the next five years.
"The Covid-19 pandemic has delivered an unprecedented blow to Europe's aviation and tourism industries," O'Leary said.
"Only Ryanair has used this crisis to place significantly increased aircraft orders, to expand our airport partnerships, and to secure lower operating costs so that we can pass on even lower fares to our guests, so that together with our airport partners, we can recover strongly from the Covid pandemic and deliver higher than expected growth in both traffic and jobs over the next five years."
