I think people try to make sense of Trump by retrofitting rationality/strategy to his decisions. It makes a lot more sense if you accept there is none to be honest
Roll on the next production doubling acquisition
Bangrak
Agree with most of your take. Just one point though: ‘ He doesn't want high oil prices’, surely Trump wants high oil prices to keep shale viable? There is a lot of high yielding debt attached to the shale complex, Trump can’t afford that industry rolling over on him in an election year.
er Monthly Production Actuals..Fri 22:04
Makes no sense to me. BP was crushed today (Shell too). That removes the "rush to quality" argument. There will be some interesting investment opportunities when this turns. It's easy to say no buyers but what it actually means is that those who broke mandates/covenants, panicked or see CV as an existential threat exited at the available prices. Traders dropped the bids and we are where we are. If nothing else this is fascinating watching even
Plenty of low hanging fruit for AA now unless we allready have a deal in.principle??
And US production on the decline. This is the biggest news out yesterday but got lost in the noise!! Google it!
Generally, i don't say much but I will today......We all know what went on before and just how badly the banks acted years ago. I worked for a bank, I know what went on, i had to sign a piece of paper when i walked out so i didn't speak about it for a while, these people will do anything to rob you. I know people sailing about the world who made millions in that crisis who got paid to walk away and say nothing. You have a US president trying to introduce a law to make US firms stop using china, he almost gave a warning something was going to happen when he said the Chinese supply chain is broken like an egg 2 months ago, he is like my old father after a few pints. He doesn't want high oil prices, he hates the idea china will surpass the US and I think he will do anything to get what he wants and so will his people. Some say he might even be benefitting from these swings in markets, the oil price for the Saudi float was amazingly good. We had a brief period of calm after the UK vote, the signing of trade agreements and it really did look like things would go well, I had oil down to go to $72. Then all of a sudden a sharp price rise, oil was breaking out.........this isn't supposed to happen......... then we get the virus.....Europe and the US don't care, it's confined to Asia.....then it gets into Europe and the news agencies push you stories of deaths and schools closing. Well, I live close to the area where all this started and I wore a mask and was careful as we didn't know what was happening, what i can say is this........... I genuinely see no evidence with my own eyes (and i travel around this area) that this is anything more than a very weak bit of flu that the world is now looking for, this is supported by WHO, who say 80% get mild symptoms. I've done my research and there are no sudden sharp increases in respiratory issues or Flu other than from pollution this way. The west is now going through what we went through 3-4 weeks ago and that is uncertainty, speculation, fake news, face masks and looking at Chinese people and avoiding going near them with OCD handwashing. Occasionally It rains cash so make the most of it, it's raining now, 1800p+ of cash for 1400p and 20k boepd with a chair that has ambition and 29%. Amazing it's here but not for long, 1m OPEC production cut and then in 3-4 weeks the realization the world is still open and the virus isnt some biological experiment that went wrong, it will take a few weeks though we're ahead of you...
Regarding what?
Yes Jimmy agree, needs to get the market cap over 500 mill to be safer from a predatory bidder
Am expecting some sort of news any day now
Ruled it out before, but things change. He probably never though it would be so far under cash. Could be a target at this price just for the bank balance. Could change things a bit.
Slightly concerning that his buddies Cav went over 10% recently so less than 10% needed in any MBO
What price would some take 25 bucks??
CUNING PLAN!!
Hi Jim he would have to apply for a whitewash. if you look at the last core finance interview with malcy end last year he ruled it out.
Also it would reduce liquidity, maybe a tender offer 20+ or if I were him do a MBO 30 Bucks would only cost 400 mill then the cash on the balance sheet 250 mill means the real cost only = 150 mill. or is that the dining plan behind the fall it does seem somewhat overdone from near £23
But that was then and this is now so who knows?
ATB
Is it just me, or does anyone else think AA should get a waiver for holding over 30% and start spending to buy back shares until they reflect the value of the business? It would be good for the company to take advantage of the market.
