That's right, we've not had any surprises.
And seems to be headed that way.. This will drop slightly again in the morning. Just a small amount not to panic people..
That means that a current share price of 50p would equate to 150.. If that's correct.. Then will hit around 40 - 50.
Thing about FTSE 100 like RR - its nice and easy, and there won't be stupid surprises as it head back up and over 100p. It snot like AIM, this is solid investment short/medium or long term
poleaxe
I do indeed remember them as well as Ferranti, Seddon Atkinson, British Leyland, ICI, etc etc. All considered too big to fail. And where are they now? Again, not having much other than a passing interest in RR I really couldnt predict a closing SP for the end of this week. And for that reason I personally wont be dabbling until next week. It would be nice to see RR as a company that was performing well - I have friends whos portfolio averages were up in the £5 region a few months ago who will be holding until they retire. Been there - done it all before.
I use simple maths - Im getting too old to do anything else.....If I was holding 3 shares last week at £2.20 (which lets face it, was pretty much the high), and I had my RI shares at 32p.......Id have an average share price in new money of 75.4p.... Last week Id have been buying shares at the £1.80 mark with a bit of trepidation.... £1.80 would equate to 66.1p today. Using the same rationale an SP today of £1 would relate back to a pre RI SP of £3.27. Current SP at the time of writing is 76.86 - This equates to a pre RI price of £2.26......
The Channel Tunnel another example of the "they will not fail , the world cannot have them fail" mentality. Sure, the Channel Tunnel survived and is still operating. It's the ordinary shareholders who failed.
Too many investors take a half-full approach and are easy prey to the discounted rights blag. They greedily look at the upside from their 'discounted' rights and overlook the other side of investment – risk. They then squeal it’s someone else’s fault when they’ve taken a risky punt and get wiped out.
Just supposing Rolls-Royce really is as up ****e creek as some here suggest (I'm not saying I agree or disagree with them). In some way or another the profitable and strategic parts of the business would be saved, but what do you think the outcome would look like for ordinary shareholders?
Mag , I haven’t ever agreed with you ever but I have no argument to your judgement at all.
It will have to BK for any downside from here. As assets ect are worth so much - USA will buy them, and if not then Russia and china will pay double. lol. see the point here. This is RR.
Here is thee thing..
great buy short term, medium and long term. Take your pick in which camp you want to be - but its buy all the way. Try to understand that from here on.
I remember marconi, that is a very different entity to rr though don’t you think ?? You can not compare the importance at all can you , rr could have gone down many routes in enforcing their cash position and I think they share placing has reaffirmed belief they have when they could have gone easier routes
what's that got to do with RR? generating £6b+ rev, and have £2b assets they can sell at a drop of hat. And now have 3 years clear liquidity.
And Covid vaccine(s)s will be out in matter of weeks now.
Its hard to buy low, as you don't know - and need real insight and value judgement etc. hence why not many make it big
Dnp, they are everywhere all over every board !! I’m not clever or a great trader but I know the basics and actually know the companies I’m investing in , this will go back up how long and to where who knows just yet but they will not fail , the world cannot have them fail it’s as simple as that
Yes larkinjersey.
Is there anyone else here old enough to remember Marconi? Another great British company of strategic importance in telecoms and engineering. It was another "the government won't let it fail" story. Were the ordinary shareholders bailed out? What do you think?
One news of AIRPORT TESTING ... 120 plus...flights want be left grounded for ever as we are falling behind with lot other countries...
Iknownuffin they have actually done me favour... got some cheap shares... they just try but never BUY...
Looking at the companies your commenting on you absolutely are one hell of a trader :) well done babes ::::
Little breather ... get more cheap shares and then next move to above 77... MARKET IS BLUE
Mat twat , stick to your keyboard mr hard man know it all , I ll stick to knowing nothing at all ::))) I’ll do just fine sweetie
Mat****, wanted to buy when went to £1 couple of months ago but missed it but yesterday caught it at 50p so yes spiked , how s h I t am I !!:)))
You missed your buy then? matlot keep trying... think people can make their own decisions... It is moving up slowly while getting RID of the weak sellers...
They have never had the capacity to build more engines than GE ?? Well the GE factory next to where I live must have a secret passage under Caerphilly to take engines in and out :) I don’t think for one minute they are the biggest or best or care for that matter but they are incredibly important to the sector end of , so you can inform us all of how substandard they are , cheaper parts blah blah great , they still sell and lots of them and make lots of cash :)
haha I know they don't power 80% of the planes, it's a rhetorical question ;)
I wonder why RR always seems to be in the brink of problems. RB211 got them to their knees, and Trent has issues too. Probably was a strategic mistake for them to sell their share of IAE to United Technologies in 2011 too, and never getting back into the short-haul market. I don't know why people keep saying this will be at £2 at the short term - doesn't IAG's rights issue and how the share price fluctuated give them something quite similar to compare to?
Ramper ?? Give it a rest ! Let me just say now I do not want or care who buys into RR at all ...simple ... was just making a comment because I wanted too , very sorry to all the incredibly intelligent people and investors on here that’s know better than anyone :)
planes will fly... COVID will be gone...Or we got to live with it.. Vaccine will be found... testing at airports will start... France all ready flying more passengers then UK.. People can not travel aboard without flights... ROLLS-ROYCE SHARES WILL BE FLYING... BUY while LOW... hold few months and 200-300 easy...
Matlot , I’m sure that me being some dull little gimp we can meet again back above the £2 mark and you can remind me how **** I am at investing shall we :)
