@ Fruitster.
So your google inflation calculations have me over £100 per week worse off?
Over 5 grand a year, correct?
Do your calculations assume rpi or cpi?
Do you think that RM or RMG as it is now, would've followed rpi or cpi, therefore giving me a take home pay of under £300. These are your words, not mine.
So the CWU didn't facilitate any better increase?
Unbelievable rubbish!!

@ wolvesposty.
What planet are you on?
Where did I ever say about pay or conditions being bad?
You're making things up to suit your anti CWU agenda.
The worst thing is, that people actually read what you post and believe it to be true.
For clarity: Potential IA is about our t's and c's going forward. Now that covers a whole myriad of things. But more importantly, it covers you. Remember that!

isle so rmg employees take home 400 a week? so on lets say 24k a year gross? not bad... and thats salaried!!! not bad for unskilled labour
IsleworthSpy, thanks. It was more of a rhetorical "tongue in cheek" reply as both of us know that the comments from wolfbag2 were incorrect. Nonetheless, there may be viewers out there that may believe this rubbish, so it needs to be called out (which you also quite correctly do).
I am not a CWU hard liner but I do believe that the trade unions are necessary.
Fruitster, yours is a truly impressive story of "local boy done good" for which you must be congratulated and presumably your parents would be (quite rightly) proud of you.
Your story although impressive is not typical of the vast majority of workers, especially the young.
I have a 21 year old and a 19 year old in my household. One works for KFC and the other Pizza Hut franchises, both owned by the same person who has no regard (or perhaps knowledge) of modern day legal requirements that modern day business owners need to adhere to such as the minimum break between shifts, holiday pay, young workers (under 18s) regulations, pregnant workers rights or workplace pension schemes.
Your statement "
As said unions do ntg for you apart from rant for you" paints a very one sided view. In many instances the trade union is there to offer a voice to those workers who are unsure of their rights or who are afraid to speak out against unscrupulous bosses (of which there are many).
Although you may not agree with the stance of the CWU it is unfair to tar all trade unions and their representatives with the same brush.
@ Oli G.
I would suggest it was the rant of someone who couldn't handle the job. And obviously too many cans of K.
The fact that a 2nd delivery was mentioned, would mean he/she was employed over 15 years ago.
I reckon she/he was caught out not delivering the 2nd delivery, got sacked, and the CWU couldn't get her/him off. Hence the bitterness.
Don't expect a response.

@ Fruitster. 00.11 post.
Thank you for sharing your post regarding your life growing up on the mean streets of London. I'm not sure why you did, because it didn't actually answer my questions. Fascinating, nonetheless.
I'll take this slowly now for you. Re-read my 23.45 post again and try to answer it, that's if you can. If you can't, simply ignore it. That in itself will tell me how very wrong you are in your earlier posts.

Wolfbag2, I would be grateful if you could let me know where you got your info regarding your previous post "43 hour week, now 38 hour. - Sorry that's an EU Working time directive" and also "6 day week, now 5. - EU working time directive as well" because good old Google can't provide me with anything to back these statements up.
Mad. A postal strike would not be seen as a Tory failure. More likely a Labour leaning CWU Union.
It would actually assist the Tories, not that they need it. That's why Labour won't agree to a GE.
One part of the EU directive we did NOT join was the social chapter. I have worked abroad for many years and pay and conditions (at the time) far outweighed the UK. Employment was a 3 way agreement, Employee, Employer and the government. When company wants to dump staff, government pays your wage and often laying people off meant employer footed the bill for a few years. The UK was still in the dark ages and "Cyril"BG and his sort would have had a coronary had they had to comply to EU regulations. One thing in common before we leave the EU, workers rights in general are being continually watered down, be it local employment or footsie/nasdaq companies.
"43 hour week, now 38 hour. - Sorry that's an EU Working time directive" NO IT'S NOT
"6 day week, now 5. - EU working time directive as well" NO IT'S NOT
"£88 per week take home pay, now over £400 per week. - Minimum wage requirements" NO IT'S NOT.
None Achievable without CWU
43 hour week, now 38 hour. - Sorry that's an EU Working time directive
6 day week, now 5. - EU working time directive as well
£88 per week take home pay, now over £400 per week. - Minimum wage requirements
You forgot the increased holiday pay (to include overtime) - again an EU directive that RMG has been slow to apply
Sure the CWU take all the credit - unfortunately being a Postman - hard physical work as it is - for the most part is unskilled and consequently mostly starts at a level just above minimum wage - although with the various regional weightings it is not bad pay for what it is
I'm afraid that when I worked for RMG it was a dinosaur and the conditions and perks were rightly (imho) eroded - for instance we still had a 2nd delivery - that was a joke - if it even got done it was seen largely as a perk and many (walk deliveries) had a working day 06:00 and could finish around 09:30 - dossing their 2nd to be able to get to their second job
@ Fruitster.
Your crown is slipping.
Do the maths before calling me out.
If you want me to further embarrass you I will.
What was the annual pay rise yoy for posties from 1990? Each year that is.
What was rpi and cpi and when did RM start paying against cpi? Assuming they did.
If you had a 3% yoy pay rise, starting take home pay £88, what would your take home pay be now, assuming 30 years employment?
Get the calculator out. Although there is a simple formula.
Look forward to your response mate.

@ Fruitster. 22.30 post
"""What year was posties on gbp88 a week?
Sounds like 1970’s when a loaf of bread was 4p. I’m sure Cwu are not responsible for uk inflation"""
30 years ago when I joined RM. That was my first take home wage.
I suppose that's a lie as well to fit your pathetic greedy agenda..
Off you go now. Back to the OED.

@ Fruitster. 21.51 part post
"""Mad. - there are employees of rmg that don’t wish to join Cwu and pay the money to cwu as they truly believe cow doesn’t add any value to their terms and conditions. Ie bankers never had unions and there terms and conditions were pretty decent."""
Probably the most pathetic post regarding the CWU!
In simplistic terms for you, some things that were in place that have now changed.
43 hour week, now 38 hour.
6 day week, now 5.
£88 per week take home pay, now over £400 per week.
None of the above achievable without the CWU.

@ mad.
The absolute desperation of shareholders (and I am one) to try to shore up their investment is clear to see.
They think that trying to detract from the fact that IA is a real possibility will make it not happen.
God only knows how much the likes of nuri, fruitster, redceo, feline, arsenal, wolvesposty, ray thepostie et al are down. I think ray and wolves might be related, LOL.
It's actually quite embarrassing.
I fully expect the denial posts, the militant name calling etc: But I know that they are all seriously under water here.
Defending your investment is one thing, but this is getting extreme now.
What are these shareholders going to be like if IA actually happens?
How much have the above named holders actually lost, paper value, since Mr Back has been in charge?
Not withstanding the 40% divi cut!
That word again, DIVI!!!
Anyway mad. I'm holding, long and strong. Hopefully my shares, all 81, will be worth 350p by xmas. 550p in 2020. And 850p in 2021. As predicted by the knowledgeable on here.
You and I are the great unwashed, who don't actually know what we are talking about.

97.1% disagree with you
Oh I see LSE have brought out their Joker come on then lets have it lets see how good you are
FFs...who has woken up madasabuffoon with his misguided unionist cr@p.....?
Where is Rico? Why wasn't he at the ACAS talks which have now finished. I will tell you why, he would have been outed absolutely no doubt about that. In a one on one with TP there would only be one winner. He has never taken on a Union like the CWU and even senior managers are now questioning his rationale. That said though they are now saying on different conference calls to gear up for IA. Does that sound like a group of managers that want to negotiate? It aint really is it. So remember when the battle starts we had an agreement we were happy to run with we would have stuck to it. RM have not honoured the agreement and are threatening to break up the industry and make no mistake about it you lot should be questioning just what he thinks he is doing. You really do. So we didn't want a fight but we aint going to run from one and see this industry destroyed and sold off that aint going to happen. And don't you dare blame the CWU for this. As for the ballot name another industrial ballot anywhere that has delivered results like the one this week, you wont find one it is a phenomenal result so much so that if you think it isn't I will run with the people who didn't vote supported RM. Even then it is a magnificent result but you know that most of those who didn't vote supported the CWU the numbers ssay so
