As far as I know the only RM staff on furlough were those that would be on zero pay so I'm not sure how all that would work out.
"@Crystalballbroke - What government assistance did RMG take?"
@mike1974
My understanding of it is not so much corporate help/bail out, but a company placing workers on furlough ties them into the same agreement that for the period of such payments etc, no financial payment can be made to shareholders (dividend) which incorporates finances that time period. I also suspect there were other clauses involved, because it would have been seriously frowned upon i suspect, if you've got millions in the bank and still took money for 80% of your workers pay.
It'll all be way to complicated for me to fully understand, buried in corporate mumbo-jumbo, but the way i've been looking at it, is that if there was any form of assistance etc, i'd be expecting the dividends to be cancelled, and this is what has happened to about 90% of the companies i've been watching, with a couple of notable exceptions (LGEN, SLA, CTO, TATE) who I don't think took any assistance, and went against regulatory guidance to not pay dividends
@200 - exactly, I doubt any more that 1-2% of RM employees are/were on furlough, so I don't see how that can have any bearing on when RM can reinstate their divi.
Plus the sww and don't forget the hampers
Mike, a few got furlough but not many. Can't see the divi back anytime soon especially when we get our back dated bumper pay rise.
Lets hope so I'm still in
MrNation, it took it's time getting to £2 so let's hope that you are correct regarding the £2.50 prediction.
@Crystalballbroke - What government assistance did RMG take?
i'd expect to see the dividend considered Q3 next year, what I don't know is the exact extent of government the governments ban on dividends if the company accepted assistance, I have a feeling it's only relevant to the period for which aid was given.
So existing dividends could be paid if they were lined to say the period before furlough payments. That said, there is significant pressure from the powers that be to try and force companies not to pay dividends, stating they should be saving the money incase they need it. The likes of LGEN that have gone against that are sustaining god market performance, whilst others are seeing money leave at the first opportunity to safer bets, such as gold, or to funds or shares which still offer some form of return.
With no dividend, this is dead int he water
What planet do you live on thinking they will reinstate the dividend anytime soon even in the next 2 years I can’t see it happening I have sold out of this stock with a good profit will look to buy in again around 150/160
The divi is reinstated this'll go up another 10% .
You got to feel sorry for the shorters again!
