GTx, I would wager that 25 hours overtime on a 35 hour contract is much more than the average but even on £10 per hour would equate to £1000 a year (25 hrs x £10 x 4 times per year). £15 per hour would be £1500 per year.
The majority of my colleagues do around 6 to 8 hours per week so about £250 to £400 per year. Every office has a small percentage of staff who like to hit the docket as well as others who don't want overtime but I would suggest that the average is around 8 hours per week so under a collective agreement you may well get less than you deserve but going forward it should be done on actual hours worked and PSP is no doubt geared to cope with this.
The bottom line is £400 each for 100,000 staff is an eye watering £40m and if it goes back 2 years it's would be around £80m on top of the existing staff budget.
It's interesting to note that BT have been paying A/L O/T from day 1 and don't have an issue with it (and BT are represented by the CWU)!
I was CC on an email to our rep and it said as of 29th sept no more settlements were being made. That RM has applied to have all cases at tribunals held until jan 2020 and that they're working on reaching an agreement at national level. Which to me means deal by Jan 2020. Hopefully it's not one where I get shafted an lose out. I do around 60 hrs a week but contract is only 35hrs.
@ Oli G.
Thanks. But I'm aware of the process.
However, there are some who will need this insight.
I will say though, that while it may look complicated, the CWU are there to help.

Royal Mail holiday pay
Hi IsleworthSpy, if you search for "Royal Mail holiday pay" on YouTube there is a brilliant 4 minute tutorial from Leeds Amal branch.
Essentially, you need to request holiday pay from your line manager detailing your previous 12 weeks of overtime before taking annual leave and asking for the average to be paid when you have a weeks leave. Your line manager will refuse your request so you then need to put on a grievance and log the case with ACAS. It's a bit long winded but at present it's the only way.
Incidentally, if you are a machine operator in a mail centre with a regular SA you get this automatically and they have done for years!
Iwas told it was a simple phone call, gave them your pay number and they did the rest, not true got someone from ACAS on my case,,worked out what I thought iwas owed, just for the 12 weeks before my last holiday, got a callback, wanted to know loss of earning, plus other details ,so told them to drop case,i am just waiting till they come to a arrangement for everyone, but quiet a bit about this on royal mail chat if anyones interested.
@ Oli G.
That's very interesting.
Can you confirm what they actually requested and tha dates involved?
Some staff in my office have been paid for this year only. 1 has requested payments from 2017.

Agree 100%, same as last time will do.
@ Stodgy.
That may be correct.
But some on here are putting their perspective on times, not the actual ballot.
The result will be published on Tuesday.
And it will be a resounding yes, IMO.

Hi GTX, I have just noticed your earlier post regarding A/L O/T (holiday pay).
We have 2 guys at our office that regularly do overtime and they went down the ACAS route in July. They received "a reasonable sum" for their efforts as it was backdated 2 years based on their claim.
According to Royal mail chat ,its 3 30,and would be surprised if one of the union big hitters who contribute on there, wouldn't have corrected that if it was a mistake.
@ wolvesposty.
I believe that the result will be released at 5pm.
How desperate are you that you're trying to prove point based on 3 1/2 hours. Good rise for holders by the way on Friday.
Myself included. Still holding 81.
Instead of your short lived euphoria, and others on here, i'd be slightly more concerned about Mr Backs stance on IA.
@ GTx. Didn't see your 2nd post. So pretty much in agreement. This is going to cost RMG a lot of money IMO.

@ GTx Spitfire.
No they haven't.
What a lot of posties have done is go through ACAS, fill out a form to reclaim their a/l o/t payments. Which I believe is a legal payment, and should be made by your company, without request.
Currently, RMG are refusing to deal with any of these claims, so any claimant has to go through the procedure of filing this claim, waiting for 3 weeks I think, and then filing a claim through the ET. Which can take up to 2 months.
It is a long and drawn out process, and IMO, RMG have chosen this at the moment to restrict any more payments, including historical payments, until a deal has been agreed.
I have been informed that some sort of agreement has been reached. Second hand info, by the way. But this will only be presented in the new year.
I've also been informed that a date has been set for an ET for at least one claim, and RMG have to respond by the 23rd of this month as to why they contest this claim.

@ RoyALMail.
Heard that rumour about the SWW (38 down to 37) being replaced with 1 weeks annual leave.
Clearly beneficial for RMG, hours wise. But I don't think that's going to happen.

before its picked up anti common sense in my post was incorrect.... caught up in the conversation.... should read pro common sense... sorry guys.. bit of a blonde moment if im allowed to say that in this culture of pc...
ispy your comment here"@ wolvesposty.
I'm sure you said that you could retire if you wanted to.
Obviously not, judging by your 19.54 post.
Your lies are starting to unravel, a bit like your 40 grand investment.
For what it's worth: Ballot result @ 5pm ish.
I also understand that there might be an agreement about A/L o/t payments in the new year.
I'm not sure if that is financially beneficial to RMG.
I Spy.... mad reckons 1.30 on Tuesday so have to wait a bit longer than mad. look I am not anti union I am anti common sense which some on here don't obviously have.. did you know every union rep will still be paid out of cwu branch funds when you strike???? no wonder they are encouraging a strike..... FACT
You have to go through ACAS. They're the 1st step. From what I was told you can claim back 2 years. However RM wont work with ACAS anymore and all cases are being refered to Tribunals but they're being held until Jan 2020 as RM are negotiating at national level a resolution.
Hey! Can I claim anything? I did retire though last December.
Alot of posties have taken RM to tribunal courts as they've not been paying average pay during annual leave only contracted hours. There is a stay until Jan 2020 so they're on hold atm as Royal mail has said they're negotiating an agreement a national level I'm guessing before Jan 2020.
For anyone that's interested ballot result is tues at 3.30pm on CWU facebook livestream
Sounds like a plan OG. Although perhaps it should be less than 52 taking in to account existing leave. An extra week seems fair. The trouble is, as you say, CWU have been striving for a sww for many years and have been quite successful bringing it down from 42 hours if I recall correctly from my notes, so I doubt that CWU would accept adding an extra weeks leave even though members would prefer it.
Isle. Where in wolves earlier post does it give any indication that would suggest that he cannot retire or have had sufficient funds to invest as he has indicated.
First he is 57 and has said he previously had more demanding positions then took the current job because he didn't want to vegetate (my words)
That would lead me to understand that he could well have the funds indicated. Given that, he could easily be financially placed to consider retirement. One poster here for example has shared that he himself inherited a sum of money. I have a couple of bob but most I was ever given that was not earned in some way was £6.00 (£36 shared between six siblings) Would you call us all liars if we divulged our share holding.
Why not stop attacking people simply because they have got under your skin by having beliefs that differ from yours.
Can't wait for this IA to be over and some here to return to reasonable people. Ok mad is always slightly cuckoo but much nicer without the union hat.
RoyAlMail, regarding the shorter working week (SWW).
When this was raised by the CWU last year (it's been on their radar for many years now) many of our machine operators asked if they could stick to their existing shift pattern and have an extra 52 hours annual leave instead.
sww
Extra weeks leave instead of see?
