F-F, on e of the points to come out of WCM is to identify and attack your biggest loss/cost. The biggest outlay for RM is the wage bill so I would imagine that there will be drastic headcount reductions. It's going to be difficult to massively reduce the delivery staff headcount so I would imagine that reductions in mail centres (especially in administrative and managerial positions) will be the first to go.
@ Feline.
Let's hope he doesn't just look at the lazy front line staff.
I know the white collar brigade has been reduced, but there is so much dead wood in the higher echelons, its embarrassing.
Jobs for the boys (& girls) I think it's called.
Start at the top and work your way down.
Less jibber jabber in the office? I agree!.

Oli.
I see your point. My affiliation is a mother that earned her crust as a postie. The turn around has started and is in good hands.

From reading posts on this forum over the last six months it is clear that Royal Mail is definitely an emotive subject, probably because it has been part of everyday life for so many for so long.
To anyone who has no affiliation to RM it is "just another parcel courier" and the fact that it should be producing a greater profit and higher share price is obviously going to be very frustrating.
Yes it is quite often badly managed with massive inefficiencies but this is a business that was never intended to turn a profit. It was only privatised six years ago (approx 1%of it's total existence) and like any lumbering giant is going to take quite a while to turn around.
Keep taking the stoopid pills Redceo.
Fortunately most here would I understand rather slit their wrists than take advice from STD. I hope for his (presumably) sake he does his full time job packing for Amazon more accurately than his share price predictions.
I see the "is "/ "is'nt" debate was concluded this morning with Fruitster and 200iq insisting it is still cheaper to employ Angard staff. Well just bear in mind this pertinent little point if you would: don't think of it as one particular person who is employed on a zero hour contract and only gets, on average, 2 or 3 days each week throughout the year -- think of it as there is always someone, on that shift, doing that job, 24 hours of the day, every day of the year. If you cannot understand this...then you truly cannot understand anything about the cost to Royal Mail concerning employing Angard agency staff. Angard staffing themselves get paid on a pro rata basis with the posties...and you still have'nt paid Angard their cut for supplying them in the first place. The cost to Royal Mail every year - astronomical!! There has to be a better way...and I believe they are now finally waking up to that fact. Time will tell no doubt...time always does. P.s one very important thing to remember about RMG: they react very slowly due to being entrenched in their ways...a hangover from 500 years of being a state owned governmental department. In other words -- extremely slow on the uptake! Lol...
