JB. The comments from Anguard personnel are frequently not enough hours and not reaching the level where they go on equal RM pay. So obviously RMG are not using unless necessary.
Ha ha the Trolls are unaware that my clock malfunctions. Must have a weak spring never winds. That's compensated by a strong forearm which does the job.
600p average could be worse @ 630p. I'm dreading the Troll Cabal realising that's the true average :-)
Redceo I see utilising agency as just another management tool and of course is aligned to traffic forecasts supplied by our major customers and to fix temporary hotspots. I had a laugh at some of the feeble attempts of some to try and wind you up and good to see you just swat them away. Only 600p lucky you lol
It's a sea of blue buy/sell at the moment. Pity we can't see the short positions in real time.
Hi JB. "So in effect if we take on more agency we pay ourselves for doing so...lol. " Your comment is basically what I said at the start of the Anguard thread. It's obvious why RMG use agency, Agency don't refuse overtime or go in strike. It's apparently around 5000 according to Anguard site, which is not a high % of the total workforce but enough to keep the wheels turning.
The SP has put a smile on my face for sure and with the recent top ups looks very nice, thank you very much. I think my average is being reported nearer 600p now by the Troll Cabal. Poor me it's probably going to take a while to reach that. Lol.
That was decent couple of weeks on here, Egypt was fab as well.
200iq spot on and agreed flexibility levels help manage the peaks and troughs if we need to bring in additional that's absolutely fine.
They need to keep regular staffing at a core level for reliability and then top up with agency because they are cheaper, it's quite simple.
Fruitster cheers and thankfully we did manage to avoid the egyptian quick step. Decent couple of weeks overall. Lets see what half year brings.
Morning all nice to be back to chilly UK. Scan read some of the more recent posts. Agency and Angard seems to be the negative topic of choice this week. Angard is part of RMG and has been for some years. Yes we may use some more agency staff but not IMO material enough to make any real difference. On a stand alone basis hour v hour I do believe agency is marginally cheaper due to not paying other costs, NI etc

I can't recall the deal at the time but in effect we took part of Reed almost like a JV/TO. You will see in the companies listing RMG Directors are shown and a Reed person or 2 as well. All of the costs are and have been covered in People costs and budgets for a good few years. So in effect if we take on more agency we pay ourselves for doing so...lol. Not sure what the issue is here maybe just some trying to make something out of nothing. AIMO and based on 2 minutes of research.
@ 200iq.
If it was cheaper, then why dont RMG use agency staff instead of employing.
As I said in a much earlier post, we had 4 applicants for interviews last week.
Why are these people not agency staff if it's cheaper?
I Spy
That's the reason companies use agency.
I'm not back tracking. It is cheaper.
@ 200iq.
Get your facts right please. You clearly stated that it was cheaper to employ agency staff. You are now backtracking.
I believe that in the current climate the use of agency staff will increase and not just because it's seasonal.
This in turn will affect profits. IMO.
That is the point i'm trying to make. Nothing sinister at all.
I Spy
I don't need a break down. Its common sense.
Someone said double.
@ 200iq.
I'm not sure where you get the double from.
If you read my initial post I said "twice", Far removed from double.
So if you can supply the break down figures for agency workers, Reed et al, proving that it is cheaper to employ this way, I will eat humble pie.
I Spy
Prices increased across the board in March if I recall correctly.
Its obvious RM pay Reed but not double. I know someone who worked in admin for a different agency and they stick 50% on top of the hourly rate. RM don't have the overheads to pay. That's why they use Reed who already have it all set up.
@ 200iq.
So can you elaborate on the price increase on a PIP basis?
And you are now accepting that RMG have to pay Reed, albeit less than Manpower. How much would that equate to combined with the agency workers earnings?
You were adamant (as were others) that the Angard is cheaper than employment at RMG!
Are you admitting you were wrong?
I Spy
Parcel volumes have been around last year at my mail centre but revenue should be up due to the price increase. They pay less to Reed than they pay to Manpower so regardless of what it is it's the cheapest option.
@ wolvesposty.
Would you say that traffic is up, parcels only, compared to last year?
Your managers could answer that question as they get a daily report. Their forward planning is also based on what happened last year. So you could also ask your rep. Although with your anti CWU stance, I doubt that would get you far.
FWIW, I think parcel volumes are down. Yes we have had very heavy days, but on the whole, and judging by the excess booked, I would say down.
Let's see what the great and the good come up with.
On a different note and open to everybody: As Felines post yesterday would suggest, REED operate Angard. How much do Reed get paid for this? Has anyone any ideas?
I Spy
200.. we are in a stage of restructure....so anything level or above last year will be welcomed by the city and reflected in the sp...
Can't be any worse than last year.
lets hope we on track my fellow investors and workmates....
